Speedy recovery, @Catt Had an a-fib episode last year. Pretty scary in and of itself. Friend recently had a stent put in, caught his heart-attack early while at Lowe's 2 weeks ago.

Good post! My Dad introduced me to the sport in the 70s. He's still pluggin' along at 91 as of today, not fishing though, just living a great life. And I'd consider it a hobby, though I've been known to call it a sport from time to time.

Unfortunately, those are Burmese pythons, you see all over Florida. Ball Pythons are very different and do not grow to the size of a Burmese. One of the best snakes you could own as a pet, and the genetic morphs can generate big $$. Me holding one of my son's morphs, a Piebald Ball Python. And just to show how crazy we get when we see a snake while fishing, my youngest (11 in this pic) saw a large black rat snake on a dock and had me motor over so he could jump out and catch it . Was at Little Creek Reservoir in Toano, VA. And yes, all my sons are quite well versed in snakes and know venomous vs. non, especially in our locality .

Big fan of snakes. Have commented before. If you're an outdoorsman it is a good thing to know exactly what lives there. Familiarize with the kinds of snakes, birds, insects you'll perhaps encounter. Advice that probably a majority here already follow, but just practical. Have encountered a number of cottonmouths while fishing, some very aggressive, but they're belligerent snakes in general. Have caught a bunch of snakes while fishing. We're a snake family, so they're part of our family fabric, LOL. Eldest son has taken over and has about 19 snakes, getting into breeding ball pythons. Pic attached was a really big and feisty cottonmouth at local Harwood's Mill Reservoir when I was long-pole dock fishing with one of my boys. Back in 2010, taken with a Palm Pre...fun phone. Pic doesn't do size justice. Ended up having to use the butt end of my long pole to lift him and move him to other side of dock to get out of our way.

No worries. Shouldn't make a difference. I use both green and clear lines, not seen a difference in hook ups.

I like Z-man plastics. But there are so many new variations on Ned rigs that I'm tempted to try some out; however, the old adage "if it ain't broke...." plays here, too .
