  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. Welcome to the forums, and love the avatar pic!
  3. First, welcome to the forums! If you are near a Bass Pro, or other fishing shop, stop in and talk to the folks about what you want to do. I've encountered kayakers who work there that can be of great help. That said, if I had the money, I'd go for a DSI model, be it a Humminbird, Lowrance, or Garmin. I have a B&W Garmin that is not a problem to read in sunny conditions. But realize not all B&W screens are equal. Better quality will mean better visibility (generally)...
  4. Welcome aboard, Kevin!
  5. Wow, I am so glad I've not noticed this before. I absolutely *hate* that sort of thing. My wife dragged me to a time-share deal in Myrtle Beach, SC once. It was awful. I think we got a $60 dinner voucher or something like that. I swore "never again!" She has the kahunas to go and just get the freebies patiently waiting to say "no" at the end. I won't do it. On that, she's better than me, LOL. When in college I did some time making ends meet with moving companies and telemarketing. The telemarketing thing was the worst gig I ever did. I felt awful every time someone said "no" and I had to flip the card templates to their "excuse" and read the rebuttal. Always felt that when I said "no" I meant "no", but they said "no" actually means "yes". I was young and needed money. Never again!
  6. I'll keep my eye out. Only time I go into the boats section is when the boys want to go look. Otherwise it's tackle all the time for me.
  7. I have had it hang up in guides, but rarely. I found that as I learned to tie leaders, getting the wraps consistent was so important, that and getting a good trim on the tag ends. Not so much the braid tag, but the leader tag. If it stuck out because I couldn't trim it with tools on-hand, it would hang up more often when trying to pitch the bait.
  8. Nice boys. Really nice.
  9. Hit a Walmart up in Williamsburg, VA this week, they had a lot of clearance stuff, but zilch on the rod deals. Buccos were $99, Vendettas (flat black) were $99, I think... Anyhow, I did score a Plano bump board for $7, and a Plano Hydro Flo 360 size box for $5. Both on clearance, decent drops. But that's all I found interesting. BPS rod trade-in here I come.
  10. I've never experienced this sales pitch here at the Hampton, VA store. Are the time-shares something unveiled along with the Spring Classic? I'm planning to go for the rod trade-in. The only thing they pester me with is the pitch for a (another) BPS credit card.
  11. Too many? Can I say that here?
  12. I just like that their faces look like they're riding in a wind tunnel, LOL.
  13. Welcome aboard!
  14. Plano bump board at Walmart, clearance for only $7, and Plano Hydro-Flo utility box, clearance at WM for $5 even. Not bad, if I do say so myself. But they didn't have any ultra-cheap Veritas rods I was looking for...
  15. If memory serves, the online sale lasts longer than the in-store sale...FWIW.
  16. I never target pickerel, but they seem to have bitten just about everything I've thrown for bass, panfish, etc...
  17. Dunno if I really have a *favorite*, but I like Hank Parker, Shaw Grigsby, KVD, Aaron Martens, Shin Fukae, Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, among others....
  18. Wow, that's a steal of a deal. Still want to get my hands on one. I like my Lexa, love my Chronarch 50e. I know I'd like the Tatula, but need to see what it feels like in-hand.
  19. Welcome to the forums!
  20. Welcome to both of y'all!
  21. DVT, are these essentially the same as the Lexa internally? And have you found the Lexas you've serviced also have a grinding in the gears? Curious. I was looking at the Exceler. Have a Lexa, really like it.
  22. Yeah, don't get any ideas now. Like wacky rigging a Yamamoto Yamaminnow, or even a Zoom lizard. That sort of stuff never works. Anywhere.
