  1. Great videos and good information.
  2. Well,,,,,,, I used to fish Tournaments. In my head I wanted to feel that tick, that pick-up, that what ever something was happening at the end of my line. I used those $200.00 plus rods and it gave me some added confidence in dragging that lizard across the bottom in 20 feet of water. Now I am retired and guess what, I still want to feel that stuff happening at the end of my line. I now go fishing for fun and part of the fun factor is having nice gear. Could I catch more fish with a $100.00 rod, maybe! When I hook up the boat to go fishing, I want to catch fish, be it a tour. or for fun. If spending a few extra bucks on a rod (in my mind) makes me a better fisherman, than so be it. Back to ghoti's, original post. Very interesting read. Next time I am on a pile of fish I will have to pay more attention as to where I am feeling what.
  3. I am retired and fish just for fun. My tour. days are behind me. Anyway my lady friend likes to fish for bass also. She likes Stren Hi/Vis Gold mono and I like Berkley Trilene XL clear/blue. Strictly lure fishing. Some days she catches more than me and some days I catch more that her. Am I ready to switch to gold line???????? NO. I guess I am too stubborn to change.
  4. Curado 50E. Just a nice, easy to palm, reel. Shimano puts out some good quality baitcasters. You can find them on "for sale" boards for around $120.00 new. Now their new offerings, well, we will see.
  5. I hate braid. BPS Excel (mono.) for me. Just good line and cheap. I re-spool allot. 8 on my spinning and 12 on my baitcaster's. Keeping it simple.
  6. Stradic 2500FI on sale at Cabelas for $119.99. Check out their web site in the " bargin cave".
  7. Some times you have to tell it like it is.
  8. Nice, just nice.................
  9. I think a Cabela's computer dude discounted the wrong Stratic and it was caught and removed. Just a thought.
  10. It will be great when used for boat control only. BUT, here is the kicker,,,, I use my tin boat on a few "electric motor" only lakes. Sooooooooo, get as much as you can afford if you have some small lakes that you intend to fish.
  11. Two ways I use to de-snag braid. First, wrap your line around a boat cleat and hit the trolling motor. Second, spool off about three to four feet of line and wrap it around your waist and hit the trolling motor. Works for me.
  12. I got a can of the Tracker Green paint at my local BPS.
  13. Adjustable is the way to go. You start the day all rested and lean on the seat and as the day drags on you might want to lower it a touch. I start my day out leaning on my seat and end my day sitting on it. Of course I am one of those senior citizen types.
  14. I am a "smallie" guy so I will be looking for the review. Interesting rod. Thanks.
  15. NRX spinning rod. Please, please, please.
  16. The Core is a much smoother, and lighter reel, right out of the box. If you are looking to put a light outfit together then the Core is the ticket. If weight is not a problem then save yourself some money and get a Curado 50. Also the Core has a higher IPT than the 50. Things to think about. Price of used depends on condition, box with goodies, etc. I would say $220 is on the low side for a decent, with box, Core 50mg7.
  17. Bottom bouncing baits, "ROD". Baits that bass hit and want to rip the rod out of your hand, "REEL", but not by much.
  18. May I ask, how much is "for very little". Thanks.
  19. I visited my local Cabela's yesterday to look at their "AGM" deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor. There is a number stamped into the top corner of the casing and I have to believe it is the date of manufacture. They had eight AGM batteries in Group 24 and all had the numbers 04-01-10 stamped on them. Does that mean that these batteries are at least a year and a half old? Is this a good thing? The clerk went back into the warehouse and said he found a few with 11-01-10 stamped on them. That's still almost a year old. Is there a rule of thumb on shelf life for deep cycle batteries? Does that rule change for regular (add water) batteries verses sealed AGM batteries? What is the oldest date you would except, paying full price on a new battery?
  20. I have not been to Raystown in years. Sounds like there are still some bass there. Sure do miss the place.
  21. I feel the same way about the Avid's bump in front of the reel.
  22. X 1000 on the New England. And yes,the recipe would be nice. Thankyou.
  23. Yep, I agree with "oomod". Nice all around set-up.
