For me that would be the Ch50 mg’s and the curado/citica 100D’s. I own 7 50 mg’s and 5 D’s. I’ve also got aldebaran 15’s, metanium 20’s and I fish the others a lot more. Adjust tension knob from spool rocking back and forth, set centrifugal brakes and forget em, no outside wheels to adjust and also ain’t gotta worry about dropping side plates in the water. Buddy of mine dropped his side plate in the water adjusting brakes on his aldebaran mgl and it was $115 to replace.

You are correct. I think people call it a 70 cause they say it has a 70 size spool. I have one and it holds about the same amount of line as the Ch-50mg/ Cu-100D Mine came from Digitaka

The 50e’s are lower profile but I prefer the footprint of the 100d and 50mg myself

Oh I see what you’re thinking. He was meaning Anti reverse bearing not anti rust or shielded anti reverse

I also repair reels on the side and I have noticed that arb bearings do not hold up like they use to. I’ve replaced numerous ones in mostly Shimano SLX’s,curado I’s and K’s for people. I know a lot of people took the anti reverse pawls out of the D’s & E’s but I myself believed it saved roller bearings. What’s your thoughts?

I treated myself a few months ago and bought some nice rods/reels. Metanium B, Aldebaran’s and expride rods. I fished with them a few times and thought wow, these are great and lightweight. But, I always found myself reaching for my (7) ch50mg’s more that are on various rods, Powell, Zodias,Dobyns. I guess it’s just cause I’ve fished with them so many years and you can just set the 6 pin centrifugal brakes and forget em and ain’t gotta fool with no dial on the side to get em’ dialed in. I also just like the footprint of the Chronarch’s better I guess and ain’t gotta worry about the side plate hitting the deck and bouncing in the water while adjusting brakes cause they are free swinging and stay intact. Any of you other guys find yourself fishing your old reels more than your new ones?

Sounds like it’s the brake tab pushing down and binding when you put the spool in like DVT said, Best thing to do is, put spool in side plate hub, spin spool to make sure it spins freely without binding and carefully put spool and side plate back in together, make sure spool is seated into pinion by turning till you feel shaft go in. This should fix this issue

What part of Alabama are you in? I work on reels and the 4600 is a simple reel and should be a simple fix. if you’re close to Tuscaloosa, let me know. Also don’t try to reel it anymore because you could break the idle gear or cause more problems with it. If something is bound up, something will give or break if you force it.

When I do use a leader, I just tie a surgeons loop. Tie it in about 30 seconds, Wrap 4-5 times and it’s good to go and it’s a small knot
