  1. Looks like a normal spinnerbait with some colorful surgical tubing over the wire.
  2. I'm with you. I like my Daiwa reels best. I especially think they are doing a great job in the entry-level spinning reel market. I'd say I like Daiwa, Shimano, then Abu, then it's everyone else. Like you my favorite reel is a Revo-SKT. Party because it is a smooth tank of a reel, partly because it has sentimental value. That reel was a pleasant surprise birthday gift from my parents when I was young. They aren't exactly made of money, and knowing how much that reel retailed for, it meant a lot to receive that from them. It's still my favorite reel.
  3. I've never had that one but snag proof makes some good frogs! I've had a couple of the Bobby's Perfect Frog ( same general body as this one) and they are amazing at collapsing and getting hookups.
  4. Agreed! We need a 3600 jig box please!
  5. Oof, that's a bad break, how'd that happen?
  6. I use an Outdoor Products one I got from Walmart - they usually have a good selection of 3-4 models back in the camping/fitness sections.
  7. Wow that's worth it just for the rage tails
  8. I've got just one set of identical set ups: Daiwa Laguna casting reel on a Falcon Jason Christie series rod 7'3" MH. One has 30lb braid, the other has 50. They are used for frogging and flipping/pitching. The reason for the duplicate is that I had got them on sale. The Laguna's were only $30 down from $60, and the rods we're found on Clearance for $15 from ~$100.
  9. Bummer! Good luck on the hunt. Must be a popular rod, it's out of stock everywhere!
  10. https://www.thornebros.com/products/g-loomis-nrx-casting-rods?variant=28986136887370 This the right rod?
  11. You're gonna love it, I've got 2 friends with the aird x and they both love it. Both are rocking Daiwa reels, One of them has a Regal and another has a Legalis on it. I have a revros lt myself and love that also.
  12. Another item came in the mail - a new reel handle for the old Shimano Citica E - the old handle bent a good two years ago and I just avoided using the reel instead of buying a new handle. I think it looks pretty good myself.. maybe need to shop around for a matching nut and retainer though... ?
  13. Thanks for the interest but in going to hold on to it for now in case I change my mind down the road. I've got a Ray's studio spool ordered, it's going to be used to throw light lures All the way from trout spinners on the lower end to need rigs on the higher end.
  14. I got myself a pretty toy recently - Daiwa T3. I've got a custom spool ordered for it, it is going on my finesse baitcasting rod which I built myself.
  15. If it is full of small bass then I would suggest a small topwater lure . If you can find a small popper, or a small floating rapala, those are Awesome lures to catch small bass, and because they are topwater, your son will be able to watch the lure as he is working it, and see the fish react to his presentation - and see some cool topwater strikes!
  16. I'm eyeing up these guides for my next build as well, so far it sounds like they are good for need rig rods haha.
  17. Any spinning reel, size really doesn't matter to me. You don't need the small size ones, in fact I prefer a 25 or 30 size reel over a 10 or "1000". The bigger spool slows down the inevitable line twist and picks up line faster. Just get a Shimano, Daiwa, Pfluger, or even Abu and spend at least $40 and you will get a quality product. No need to spend a ton of money IMO.
  18. Too bad I run 3600's! I love the design, I'd probably get one if it came in a 3600 size. What I love most about it is that it looks like you can have a few larger, more open compartments if you want them. I keep a few sets of hooks in their original packaging in my box, and I would do similar to what you have done in your upper right corner.
  19. Got out in Wisconsin this weekend, the lake had multiple areas with widely differing water clarity. Caught about 8 or9 and all in that 12-15 inches range. All the bass I caught were in the murkier water as opposed to clear, and we're all in the shallows. They bit a big chartreuse and black Bomber model B balsa crankbait, which was sometimes waked, sometimes cranked down to about a foot deep. I figure the bass were males in prespawn mode getting ready to settle down and chose to warm up in the warmer, muddier shallows if the lake.
  20. I would suggest a cheap kayak, for around $200 you should be able to get a lifetime tamarack which is a fine boat, or as @Throwafrog had mentioned earlier, You could upgrade to the Teton which is a little bit nicer. If you get a kayak, you'll need to plan and factor in a way to transport it. My roof racks cost almost 3 times as much as my kayak. If you have a pick up then that is easy. If a car, you can get away with use some rachet straps and some rope directly to the roof - just throw down a towel, rubber mat, or pool noodle to minimize movement and prevent the roof from getting all scratched up. Not ideal, but works if you drive really slow and have no other option. Personally I don't want myself in any inflatable on the water while I'm fishing. I feel like it is just a matter of time before a hook finds it's way into the hull and ruins the boat. At that point hopefully you are not far from the boat ramp. Don't give up on finding a vessel to get you on the water, I know sometimes the options can seem daunting, but honestly buying something to get you off of the bank will be the best purchase you will make to increase the amount of fish you catch. It's amazing how much it opens up the amount of fishable areas on any body of water.
  21. I don't have many vision 110's, but I don't think they make a bad color. That being said, this one is my favorite, which was gifted to me from the Fishmas exchange on this forum! Not sure the name of this particular color, but it sure is pretty!
  22. Good call. Looking back at the original bait in question, its looking more and more like a blank lure that may have been painted. You can see a place around the eye that looks like it may have been covered by tape when painting.
  23. Top one looks kind of like a Norman fat boy, but I'm not sure on that. It might also be a knock off of a rapala DT fat, as it kind of looks like that blank as well
  24. Honestly light braid can be a problem on baitcasters, digging in being the main issue. That being said, I started with 65 and then 50, and then 40, and then 30. I don't have any problems with the 30 and I just spooled up with the 20 because I have the same question. I plan on using the 20lb braid for my kayak rod to fish a variety of lures with, I mostly want to use it for squarebill crankbaits, topwaters, and weightless plastics.
