  1. Everyone should quit using any bait Roland Martin tries to peddle.....he's the king of sliding in a plug for a horrible bait so he can make a dime.....How many of you have used your helicopter lure recently? I'm sure his son Scott used it to win FLW angler of the year. I can hear it now...."Son! My son won the FLW angler of the year exclusively on the helicopter lure! Wait a minute, he also threw the Cavitron buzzbait loaded with MegaSrike!" "Scott also credits his top finishes because he used Dr. Dan's lip balm which helped him catch extra fish" "If it wasn't for Scott's Duracell Marine batteries he wouldn't have ever got his boat started which also helped him win" "Son" I'm proud of my son! (Have to admit though, Cavitron buzzbait is a good lure)
  2. that's what i originally thought......i just wanted to know if that would hurt anything.
  3. Hey guys.....I just needed some reassurance on this question. ....I have a 2 bank charger that i am only going to hook one 12 volt battery to. So i read somewhere that you still want to connect the other bank wires to the one battery so that both banks leads are connected to the one battery.......is this correct? Just want to make sure i don't mess up anything. Thanks for the help.
  4. It's a straight 24....65lb thrust.....i did have a 55lb thrust 12 volt.....so do you think i will still be ok with the 2 prong plug? I really appreciate the help.
  5. Hey guys....just bought a new 24 volt trolling motor that i'm putting on my tracker 175. My question is can i still use the original 2 prong plug that was used for the 12volt motor or do i need a 3 prong or something else.....thought i would ask on here first.....thanks guys.
  6. Fatsack app on my phone...it's free and you can upload pics of your gear and enter all kinds of information like rod type, reel type, line etc.....it's really nice. Sorry Goose...i use Excel spreadsheets way too much at work to enjoy it for my hobby....lol.
  7. Just a heads up for the guys looking for a great deal on Quantum Energy PT Baitcasters.....there is a place on flea bay that is selling right handed 6.3:1 and 7.0:1 reels for $100.00 plus free shipping....these are regularly anywhere between $150 to $160 bucks......it's legit I've bought 4 all brand new in the box....also...just a hint....on the 6.3:1 they also have a make an offer box and they will sell them for $80.00.....I've bought 2 that way.....the 7.0:1 doesn't have that option.....great deals....
  8. Its fine.....its almost the same formula as the old Reel Scrubber they used to sell. I loved the Reel Scrubber.
  9. Go with the Lew's Custom Speed Stick.....no doubt on this one....I've been using the 7'2" Medium for the last year and it is awesome.....it's lighter than the St. Croix Mojo and the Duckett lacks the quality......I'm a crankbait nut so I really do know my crankbait rods. For the $ range you are talking, the Lews is it.
  10. Yeah, seems like they are pushing people to the website more and more.....I love those catalogs....hopefully they won't go away totally. I think if T W would put one out that would be interesting.
  11. Hey guys, Just wanting to know some information on my new trolling motor upgrade. I'm putting on a new Minn Kota Maxxum 65lbs thrust 24 volt system. I'm going to rewire everything since i have to put the batteries in a different location. I just need to know should i go with 6 or 8 gauge wire and do i only need one breaker on the system? Should the breaker be a 60 amp? Also i will be running the system with Optima Blue Top Batteries. Thanks for any help. Kevin
  12. Yes....i think good forums such as this should think of all of those things....its great you can use this forum for searching out different topics that have been posted in the past but at the same time, there is the social aspect that anglers like when they get a real response that might lead to new friendships and just shooting the breeze.....If there are not those kinds of conversations then this only becomes a database that eventually gets to be boring.....I like the people who take the time to answer questions or pose different views.....that's what makes things interesting.....
  13. I believe you have to send your reels to the Springfield Missouri BPS store....I don't think each store has their own cleaning & repair shop.
  14. It's just another version of the zebco 33. Manufactured in Cabo Wabo and engineered by the great Samuel Hagar. Sounds like some guys on here have been drinking some Cabo Wabo.
  15. Yeah, the story behind the Lew's deal is with new owner Lynn Reeves who used to work for BPS. There was a problem between he and BPS and they let a lot of people go who had been with BPS for a long time including him.....so, he was friends with the Lew Childre family and purchased the name and restarted the Lew's branded reels....and I bet BPS has lost a lot of reel sales since Lew's has really taken off....and if you notice BPS does not sell Lew's.....Looks like Reeves won that battle.
  16. Lew's is catching up with everyone....its only a matter of time.....the reason....great value and multiple selections to choose from....My local tackle shop owner said, at least in my area, Lew's has been outselling Shimano 3 to 1 for the last 3 years. I'm one of those people who has started moving that way....I've got 6 Lew's, 4 Shimanos and 4 Abu Garcia's....(Baitcasting) And I haven't had any issues with my Lew's at this point.....not many problems with the others either. Just a thought.
  17. I also clean and put Lucas Quick Mist Wax on the blanks.....quick and easy....the main reason i do it is because it has UV protection in the wax that will help the graphics on the rod to not fade with constant sun exposure. Also i spray it on the guides and inserts so that it will be slick for the line to go through. But i guess i'm a dork because i also clean the cork grips and use cork sealer....that's what you do when you live in areas where the water gets hard in the winter and still want to do something with your fishing gear.
  18. Yeah, some of the thumbars on Revo's do that...but what i did was just order some black thumbars from Lew's and replaced them. Not expensive either. That so called chrome just doesn't hold up well, makes them look cheap.
  19. Yeah, I think that the Hot Sauce Grease gets a bad rap for just the staining of the red dye.....If you only put it on the gears then its not that big of a deal because its on the inside anyway.....some people have said that it hardens, or is tacky, but I haven't seen this and I've used it many times. I think its just a small complaint someone had that has gotten blown out of proportion.
  20. Hey guys......sorry to burst some of your bubbles but i called my local Cabelas and they said they didn't have any of those Quantum EXO reels in stock.....when i asked if they would be receiving any for the sale, they didn't know....so I talked to someone at Cabelas headquarters and they said that it was only if it is in stock. They didn't believe they were going to be receiving more for the sale.....so unless your store has a large inventory it doesn't look like there are going to be very many out there. And apparently they are discontinuing this model that is why what is left will be on sale. Looks like they are just trying to get people in the door. Kind of a disappointment that they can't back up their advertising. Plus they said you couldn't order it online either.
  21. A lot......I love pitching...I pitch to cover or structure, hop it a couple of times and reel back in quickly and pitch again.....I use a high speed Lew's 8.3:1 Tournament Pro so i don't waste time bringing my lure back. My tournament partner can't believe how many pitches i can get in a day. Also its good to learn to pitch right and left handed. During tournaments it helps relieve the pressure on your wrists, shoulders and elbows. If you get a chance to watch Tommy Biffle pitch a lure, you will see how easy it can be done without much effort.
  22. That's terrible. Not surprising the way things are going in this country......I think we need to start firing up the electric chairs.....
  23. That's the size I've been catching in my tournaments lately!
