Opinion On 1994 Procraft V170B
I once owned a procraft 21.5 fish and ski. After fishing out of that boat for about 4 years, and having the oportunity to fish out of several other makes, I came to the conclusion that there were better quality boats out there. The boat certainly got me out on the water and allowed me to catch fish but I knew there was better quality and ride out there. You get what you pay for. IMO procraft is a mid level line of boats at best. I think the price on that boat is too high but, if it is in great shape and gets you on the water and you think the price is fair then go for it. If it was only used in ND it's entire life and stored properly, chances are it has not had a lot of use, as they have a short season. With that said, I think there are a lot of great deals out there on mid 90's boats right now. Granted most of them are not close to you. I think $2500 would be fair if everything checked out. good luck.

First Tournament Of The Season
Congrats on your finish. Unfortunately some of those small mouth tourneys can turn into shoot outs. Whoever catches the one big smallie is the winner. I have fished some smallie tourneys where less than 1 pound separated the first 5 places.

Any Brushy Creek (IA) advice?
Hooli, I found this map at the dnr web site. http://www.iowadnr.gov/fish/fishing/lakes/maps/brc94.pdf It also has gps coordinates to some "hot" spots. You might double check those coordinates though or maybe someone on here knows, but I went over to that lake about 4 years ago and had plugged a bunch coordinates into my gps and they were all off. After talking to a dnr offical at the lake, they knew they were incorrect. I would think (hope) they have them corrected by now. I am sure you have heard that they have a nice population of ski's over there as well. good luck.

What Is The Better Chip LakeMaster Or Navionics?
I have only had the navionics and I like them but, have heard that with the lakemasters on the HB units it gives you the ability to color code your depth levels therefore quickly identifying certains depths you may be targeting. I would go for the lakemaster just for that option.

Wanting a new reel. Narrowed it down....
Diawa viento.....$89 at tackle wharehouse...DO IT.

Quality reel for a hundred bucks ?
I have a citica and a diawa viento. A lot of people don't like the viento soley because the fear of the twitching bar breaking. I have had 2 for about 4 years with no hassle and just picked up another viento for a buddy of mine at tackle wharehouse. $89 shipped is a great value for that reel. Especially if you like to fish slowly , with one hand.

Fish finder power cords
I think if you go to the lowrance web site they have a cross reference chart that shows what cables connector are compatible with other models. If all else fails, call lowrance and they can help you.

Nitro Z7
I was at bass pro last week and happened to check out the Z7 they had on display. It looked fully equipped with opti 150, electonics, and talon anchor system. It was a single console and was priced at $23k and change. I thought it was a good price for a new boat with said options. The other thing I noticed was the beam. It looked to be a nice wide beam. Now that said, I think there are some great bargains out there on used rigs but, with a new unit you shouldn't have to worry about repairs and upgrades for a few years. You can just go out and fish.

Mixed message on bait quality
I was watching the Bass Pros last night on DVR. I guess I was a little frustrated about the fact that these "pros" are out there touting their sponsored bait brands and the "good" quality of the brands, and then in the next breath, they say "Now make sure and put some quality hooks on your baits or trade out the hooks with quality hooks" They need to quit telling us to change out our hooks and tell their sponsors to put quality hooks on the baits to begin with. Rant over......That just struck a nerve with me last night.

Any Problems With Sidescanners?
My buddy had side imaging on the bow and stern of both of his boats. Both of them got interference on the unit at the console when using the tm. His old boat got totaled in a storm, took delivery on the new boat in september. It does the same thing. Water got hard before we had a chance to trouble shoot. both systems installed by boat dealer. I would be interested to hear any suggestions.

First time out with the new H-Bird 898.................
I know you weren't asking me but, I'll chime in anyway, as I have been planning my own installation of hbird SI I would bet you can do the installation. It is just a matter of pulling wires to the desired install areas. One of the important things in regard to SI is the position of your si transducer. I am sure with a little research you will learn the correct position for your boat. As far as the battery life, I do not believe it will significantly affect the life anymore than any other fishfinder on the market but, that is a plain old wag. It will give you a readout of your voltage though. If you can get NVB for less than a $100 adder, I would do it. The last time I purchased a navionics chip, it was $120 for just the one region. With the NVB I believe you get all regions for the US and you don't have to mess with the chips. good luck

Trailer Tire Wear-----
Take it to a professional alignment company. that is the first thing I do when buying a new "to me rig". I just had a single axle trailer done 5 months ago. They did the alignement and repacked my wheel bearings for $138. No new bearing but new seals. Based on your tire wear, I would guess your trailer needs an alignment.

anyone watching match fishing
That was so messed up. Even with that kind of money on the line I wouldn't have done that to him. Same here I always enjoy seeing fish being caught! It didn't sound like either one them had a problem with it. Just part of the strategy. Somehow it just doesn't seem right though.

anyone watching match fishing
Maybe it is old news and I am watching re-runs. (if I am don't spoil it for me) Half way through the finals it looks like Luke Clausen has the edge over Andy Morgan. I sure do like this type of competition. It gets you a little closer to the anglers and shows a more comedic side to the anglers. This format sure seems to frustrate the anglers though. Denny Brauer sure made that clear. Looks like he had a bit of bad luck in his match against Morgan. Luke sure seems to excel at this format. anyone else watching?
