  1. As much weight as you can get away with. Sometimes its a guessing game as to how bass react to the ROF. Sorry the answer is vague, but is there a right or wrong answer here?
  2. For blade style you basically have 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. The Colorado will have less flash, more drag, more thump and thus slow the bait down. Great for off colored water and, IMO, for cold water presentations. The Willow will have more flash, less drag, less thump and thus will speed the bait up. Great for clear water condition and, IMP, for warm water presentations. Blade size will matter. Too small and no rotation, i.e. no thump. Too big and the whole bait rotates. I'm sure someone will chime in on hook size and weight. Good luck.
  3. Let the addiction begin!!! That's awesome man, they came out great! Let us know when you need the 800 number to cure your jig making disease. It's a free consultation.
  4. My son is gonna be really excited! These tix were just given to me...Complete surprise! My son's birthday is Sept 3 and this game is for Sept 13th so it will be a nice little birthday gift.
  5. Wow, that's weird, I've never had an issue with Rapala. I love the Skitter Walk and Rippin Rap. Although, I haven't fished the one you're having issues with, so I'll take your word for it.
  6. They certainly are hard fighting fish, no doubt about it. When they hit, they hit hard. I'm surprised I haven't lost a rig or 2 over the years.
  7. Sixers are a very hot team going into the playoffs, no doubt about it. The experience for them this year will be tremendous! As a Celtic fan, I look forward to having the Sixers playing well for years to come. I loved watching those 2 conf teams playing each other during the season and playoffs. The eastern conf needs them to be a valid team. Unfortunately the Celtics have way too many injuries. I would like to see them win a round for the playoff experience for their young guys. I agree that the championship will go through the west, but I'm not sleeping on the Raptors. They have a ton of talent on that team and could at least get to the finals. Can't forget about LeBron either.
  8. I taught my son when he was 5 on a Zebco 33 many years ago. I showed him how to cast and just before the lure hit the ground I had him stop the cast with the cast button. He was casting a baitcaster within a couple of weeks. Teach em early, it will be much easier. He's 13 now and hasn't fished with me since baseball became his favorite sport. I consider myself a fortunate dad who has a kid who still likes to throw the ball around in the back yard.
  9. I miss those relaxing days on the beach waiting for that rod to bend! I have a feeling it isn't gonna happen again this year either.
  10. You had fun didn't you? Buy more. Smithwick hasn't been around for many decades for nothing?
  11. Not a fish, a passing Ford Truck. My spook jr. caught the side mirror on the back cast.
  12. You got every right to brag, that's an oinker for sure! And a great memory to be had for you 2.
  13. I'm looking to purchase jigs compatible for MA fishing, 1/4 oz thru 3/4 oz. Would love to find out where I can get a decent assortment of grass, swim and football style heads. Any input you have is appreciated. Thanks JF10.
  14. I'm looking forward to the series with the B's. Should be a good one.
  15. Let the addiction to lure making start!! Congrats, man! Thanks for sharing.
  16. @Bluebasser86, that looks sweet! That'll work on some ME stripers.
  17. I haven't done it in a while but I used my 5 wt rod and used to tie up Royal Wulffs and had a blast with gills. Man, I may have to do that again this year. I had a blast! Thanks for the post.
  18. My buddy got a boat shortly after his divorce settlement and named it "The Rest"... Good luck with the new boat.
  19. I can't imagine playing in temps like that... I remember the Red Sox playing the Rockies in the World Series in '07 and the Rockies were waiting for the winner of the ALCS to finish up and they got a bit of snow during that week. They showed the players making snow angels on the field during practice... I thought I heard the Twins got postponed yesterday (Sunday) because of snow and frigid temps?
  20. I was hoping to start fishing this weekend but my plans have changed. My son's baseball coach wants a practice tomorrow ahead of Sunday's opening day double header. There's always next week.
  21. Absolute classic! I coached a tourney team last year and we had uniforms made up for the kids and us coaches. The 3 coaches numbers and names: #3 Who (He was actually the 1st base coach) #4 What (Me, manager) #5 IDK (He was actually the 3rd base coach)
  22. I hope this is it for snow, my son is supposed to be opening his baseball season with a double header this Sunday. It's bad enough that they start in the mid-40*'s but snow?!? LOL...Time to move onto Spring
  23. Yeah, I'm not sure. I always use the "choose files" feature at the bottom of the reply dialog box, but I guess I must have a limit on files I can upload. A 10K photo looks a little smaller than your avatar... Oh well. Thanks anyway.
  24. I'm trying to upload a photo to the "Post a Photo a Day!" thread and I get a message that indicates I can post a 10KB max. I scaled the photo down and it looks like a postage stamp, is there a limit as to what can be uploaded?
  25. AFC: The Texans have a good D and could be a contender. They really are a QB away from being in any serious talk. I still wouldn't rule out the Steeler's and don't forget Oakland. NFC: Green Bay - Aaron Rogers...need I say more Dallas - I'm with you @dwh4784, I'm not sold Atlanta will be driven Trending up in Tampa Bay - very talented group down there. Will surprise and may get in at least play off round or 2 Detroit? Trick or Treat
