  1. Went down to look at smoke alarms today. Individual hardwired/battery back-up and battery only were $38.99/device. I need 7 hardwire/battery back-up. Came home and went on Amazon and found a 6-pack deal and a single for $120. After I ordered I remembered this thread. If you're interested or in need, the hardwired ones I just bought are BRK First Alert SM100V-AC. You may have to scroll down a bit, but the 6-pack deal will pop up
  2. Another Brock Huard announcement?
  3. My father came to my house in Maine many years ago and we sat down and had a beer. He saw the chipmunks running all over the place and a couple went under my patio. He gets up and goes to his car and comes back with 2 smoke bombs. I'm like; "What are you doing?" He was going to drop a couple of smoke bombs down 2 holes Bill Murry style in Caddy Shack. "Dad, my kids are 2 and 5 y/o right inside the house, I'll keep the chipmunks." HAHA
  4. My strap is over and security hook (is that what it’s called?) is under. Just seems like it works better that way.
  5. Are you pouring spoons now? Winter ain’t over yet! Haha
  6. I’ll be so real with you, my rods pretty much have to break in half b4 I replace with another rod. Reels that I can not get parts for any more are either tossed if I only have 1 of those reels or used for spare parts if I have reels that are the same or have interchangeable parts. If I know I’m not using a particular combo I’ll give it to a kid who I know could use it. Pay it forward and keep the sport alive
  7. Sounds like a line from a movie … haha … Stripes comes to mind I’ll be so real with you, I do the same thing. Color doesn’t enter my mind unless I’ve already caught something on that lure. I’ll grab a different lure 9 times out of 10 b4 switching colors to the one I have on EDIT
  8. It does take more space. I had a Nissan Frontier which was waaaay better braking while towing. Your boat should be light enough and fine but I wanted you to be aware
  9. Things to consider: What's impossible to find out from 1 retailer/manufacturer to another is the blade's thickness which affects weight which affects how fast it spins which affects thump. When I was building spinnerbaits blade sizing was a little different from 1 manufacturer to the next. I'm not not sure if that has changed or not since I was making them but it can factor in your builds. I know 1 retailer has brass blades that were at a very different price point than gold blades. I didn't mind using them, brass tarnished and sometime less flash was a good thing. But if you want them shiny, then they pose a maintenance issue. So when buying make sure you pay attention to raw material vs plated. Different base materials on plated blades can make the blade heavier or lighter despite being the same thickness. Again, when I was building this info may or may not be known. How did I work around the above: I bought from 1 retailer to ensure consistency to all my spinnerbait builds.
  10. I do agree you'll be fine but I would also consider how your brakes will respond to the added weight. My Jeep Wrangler is rated for my boat weight but braking was a learning curve at highway speeds. Either way, I hope you have fun with your new boat!
  11. Now I wish you made up a story ... haha
  12. @Glenn’s vid is really good and should be a help to you
  13. I was thinking the same thing … haha
  14. This would be my answer
  15. Which makes the catch even crazier! You have to wonder if that would have been some type of state record or trophy. That's big! Especially for that line an hook size. Do they have some type of state trophy fish citation where you live?
  16. It sure is! Does that point really drop off deep? It looks like a really good fishing spot
  17. You're right, the pic doesn't show it as 4 - 5 feet, 3 feet maybe, but, still, 4 - 5 feet! That must have been quite a thrill. Congrats
  18. I ordered some plain jig heads - 10ea 1/4 oz. 10 ea 3/4 oz and 10 ea 3 oz. I just finished painting and tying bucktails on them to add to my saltwater gear.
  19. I tend to gravitate toward structure and love fishing humps or steep drop offs so I would start there for me. I suggest fishing spots that meet your strengths/comfort zone. If that means beating the bank or cruising point to point or whatever it is, fish what you’re used to and comfortable way of fishing. And the 3rd out 3rd in and a 3rd in reserve rule was very good advice given here
  20. Sorry for my ignorance ... I had no idea you experience iced over waters ... Learn something new every day
  21. But funny none-the-less There's a lot of non-member traffic on this site - right now at 8:13 AM ET there is 342 viewing and 12 are members on a slow Monday morning - so yes, there is a good chance ppl are seeing whatever your post is from wherever they live. So just think about how bass resource famous you are
  22. Haha … you’re good man
  23. Welcome from the 617. Interesting topic @PondCassie, one that I hope you can keep posting on. I’m really interested in hearing about your findings. I think there are so many factors that come into it. I’ve seen large mouth bass do exactly what @Reel mentions above. I’ve seen large mouth literally pick up the soft plastic by an appendage and move it off the spawning bed and drop it a foot next to it just to get it out of the way. And I’ve also seen them literally engulf a soft plastic like they haven’t eaten in days. Again, very interested in hearing about your findings.
  24. Well, you are certainly going to one of the best here in Boston. Good luck man
