  1. I run 10lb Sunline Super Natural. Thin and sensitive sinks just fine with a 78-110 sized jerkbait.
  2. Landed a 5.5 smallie that won us a tournament a few years back and not another fish that year. The next year 4 smallies on 4 casts 4lbs plus each. Then nothing... I am still trying to narrow down it's perfect time and place. Does catch fish, but so do a lot of other things more consistently.
  3. Braid color doesn't matter if you are running a leader. I use that Rainbow stuff. That being said I run straight mono for jerkbaits
  4. A very time and place bait. One amazing day a year keeps getting them thrown.
  5. Killer bait
  6. Adding clear works
  7. Bill reminds me of a Norman.
  8. Travel costs seem to be easier with the Costa.
  9. What plugs are you running?
  10. The stretch below 89 can be accessed either at the tiny park right where the train tracks cross in winooski. Or. Where the power transformer is (on right when you are on 89 heading north). I'd wade this stretch first. Get into the weeds!!!!!!
  11. Just park the trailer up the road at the hockey rink! Some amazing water and sights in that area
  12. Stay at the Otter Creek hotel in Alexandria Bay. Cool town and puts you out onto great water.
  13. I live in Georgia... Arrowhead is wicked fun. Winooski River, put in with a buddy where River Rd is in Essex. Drift dow. To the park just above the IBM Dam (you leave your car there first). Obviously Smallies and Browns but there are some banger Green fish there too. Stretch of winooski below the IBM dam, I've caught 10 species of fish below the pump house. Stretch of winooski below 89 has big smallies Fairfield Pond has monsters. Lamoille below Peterson has its moments. Missisquoi can be hard because of the long stretches of dead water. However... where Charcoal Creek goes under rt 78 (culvert then fish south) has BIG largemouth (7's and 8's out of there). That ought to fill up the rest of the summer.
  14. Lake Fork Magic Shad Trimmed paddle tail swimbait Swim Senko Boiled grass pigs
  15. On Champlain I have seen thermocline at 50ft. Definitely looks like it to me.
  16. Only the tour pro has the spot lock function
  17. Have tried but heard a ton of positive reports. Phenix like most of the other west coast rod companies tend to run a bit more moderate in action and lighter in power than what's printed on the rod.
  18. Buy a used 6wt 8-9ft. A basic reel that's at least made of metal. A floating wf line. Then a few different leaders. Toss woolly buggers, muddler minnows and clousers. It's fun but do not get crazy overthinking it all.
  19. Works well in fatter baits like ikas and keitech sif's
  20. 3 new Trolling Motors
  21. I used a 130 wp on the same rod I toss small swimbaits (like S-waver 168). A 735 Dobyns or Lamiglas in the model you can afford. Tried it on a 7ft MHM St Croix and thought it was overloaded.
  22. I assume you have a kayak... Bomoseen St Catherine Ti area of Champlain is an hour and a half away Waterbury Res Ct River and Set backs If you want to road trip up, I live just off northern Champlain
