  1. Try to sell it. It’s worth what someone will give you. Then you’ll know. Mike
  2. No intention of finding out. But I assume it could eat away the finish, weaken the epoxy around the guides etc. Mike
  3. No, it doesn’t matter unless you’re using an acetone based deodorant. But if you’re unusually smelly, a little soap and water is all you need. Mike
  4. Rarely throw a crank, but when I do it’s always shad or shiner colored. Mike
  5. Rage Bug Magnum UV Speed Worm/Cut R Fat Max Ribbon Tail Mike
  6. Yes that’s a Palomar. One thing, try to keep the 2 lines parallel to each other, not crossed when you make the overhand knot. Another, using as much line as you did, pull the main line a little before cinching, you won’t waste as much line. Mike
  7. Long Live the King!! Mike
  8. I only use a Palomar on braid for certain moving baits. Check a previous thread titled About Sunline Sniper FC. There are many posts about what folks use. Mike
  9. I certainly wouldn’t use mono!! or even a leader for that matter. All tho there are many on here who use just that. They’ll be along shortly For fishing in those conditions I use 20# Sunline Shooter, and have for years and have no reason to change. Mike
  10. Great catch! Yep, Looks like all of a 5 Mike
  11. Except for punching and frogging, all I use is Sniper or Shooter and have for years. Never had a break off using either a single or double SDJ Mike
  12. Buddy, I am so sorry for this serious lapse in your mental faculties. I hope you seek professional help soon before this serious physiological condition worsen, and you become a danger to society and yourself. If I even thought of converting to the dark side to catch a fish, I would probably admit myself into a hospital specializing in delusional behavior. My thoughts are with you. Mike
  13. New or used, If it’s not absolutely smooth I wouldn’t use it. Mike
  14. When using braid I got in the habit of cinching by pulling the main line, then tag, then mainline again. The last 2 steps aren’t really necessary but I do it anyway. Mike
  15. Happy Birthday!! Thats the way to do it. And Happy Birthday to you @A-Jay as well Mike
  16. I use a heavy/xfast with 80# braid for all punching. A heavy/fast with 20# flouro for heavy to moderate cover. Both combos have served me well for years, no complaints or concerns. I wouldn’t even consider using a leader! Mike
  17. Bladed jig, speed worm, Cut R. Mike
  18. Personally, I’ve never had a reason to use anything larger than 10” Mike
  19. This time of year and from that side of the lake I would fish East of the lock. When you go through it, go past the rim canal turn right and fish Coots Bay. There are acres of reeds and isolated clumps all through there for 1/2 mile. Pitch your favorite worm in and around the clumps and use a paddle tail swim bait through the fields. From there go back into the canal and go East. Fish in and around Ritta Island working your way into Pelican Bay at the far end. (I got a 5 and a 8 out of there) Depending on time you can go west from the lock and fish Uncle Joes Cut all the way into the lake itself. From there turn NW and hit the Monkey Box, but be aware of the water level in there. The last few weeks there was an algae bloom in some areas but it shouldn’t be a big problem. Good Luck and be Careful. One thing.. If you can see a storm building anywhere on the Lake, GO!!! Mike
  20. Tom There is nothing else to say that I haven’t said already about the loss of your son. The hurt and pain is unimaginable by any standard by anyone who hasn’t felt it. You, your family and especially your Son have been in my prayers. The brain try’s to reason when we are beyond reasoning. It try’s to accept what happens as either God’s will or a circumstance that must be accepted. The heart tho is a different thing altogether when it comes to losing a child. It makes us do things we wouldn’t normally think we would. It makes us feel when we think we are beyond feeling. It guides us when we are past being consoled. But the one thing it does best is to hold onto the Love of our children and the memories of them that we keep until it’s our time. There’s a saying I try to lived by... Do what your heart tells you, if you do that, you can never be wrong. God Bless Mike
  21. All big worms (7” and up) are T rigged. I dead stick a bit before and during a varying retrieve back, but always keeping in contact with the bottom. For me there are better options for swimming. Mike
  22. You are. The general public is invited to fish regardless of affiliations. Mike
  23. Ditto Also, As you can see there is not a lot of love on here for Trokar hooks. I won’t use anything else for punching. Make your own choices. Mike
  24. Great Job!! There is nothing like a top water hit! Mike
