Perhaps you should look into darter heads. I suggest the Owner Ultrahead darter head or Kalin's Screwlock darter head. Both are very weedless and have bullet shaped heads.
  4. That's great news. Looks like I'll have to bundle up and go fishing then.
  5. If you don't mind a 6'3" rod, http://ohya.com/products.asp?cat=105 It's a lot of rod for only $110, considering the Cielo rods use the same rod blanks as the Steez rods. I have one and while it's shorter it's also a lot more accurate in casting. The titanium tip helps with the sensitivity a lot as well and gives you a really fast action while still being able to bend like a mod action rod if necessary without snapping in half. The only catch is that it's a light action rod rated for 4-10 pound line and 1/16-3/8 oz lures, so if you fish heavier shaky heads or dropshots that might be an issue.
  6. I think a green Daiwa Zillion would look cool. Just sayin' the green ain't so bad...it's the logo on the side that looks cheesy. and to me, gold accents is SO 1980's The body copy says 6+1 bearings but the specs chart right after say 10+1 I think this reel might actually create some sales if it does have 11 bearings. For people who are willing to pay retail for a regular zillion, I suppose an 11 bearing one for $10 more might actually be a decent deal. Not sure if it will appeal to enthusiasts though.
  7. I'm with RLR on this one. More than happy with my Droid 2.
  8. Three - Super Hogs, Beavers and Space Monkeys. Basically, one with subtle action, one that's slightly less subtle due to ribbed design and wider body, and one with lots of action and water displacement.

They need to feature Emmanuelle Chriqui again.
  10. I'd say go with moss green. Let's not push our luck with braid visibility now...
  11. What about the B'Freeze 78 from LC Japan?
  12. You can just tie it on direct, and a palomar knot should work. If you're gonna be fishing lily pads and slop, I really doubt fish will notice braid and get spooked that easily. Heck, I caught a chunky smallie on crystal clear Lake St. Clair this year while on open water on a spinnerbait tied directly to braid.
  13. This kind of reminds me of South Park s.13 e. 11 for some reason. I can hear it now... "f@#$-a you-a brufin tuna!"
  14. I really should try ice fishing... If only the ice was thick enough to walk on where I am.
  15. Use a hole punch and punch your own holes on top of each soft plastics package above the ziploc. Then stick em all in a generic binder.
  16. I have. Haven't really noticed a huge problem with weighing down the front. Then again I use the 6# test on my spinning setup for topwater plugs.
  17. I've heard Stradic CI4 owners complain that it tends to act funny when wet.
  18. Faster action rods have a smaller % of the rod flex when pressure is applied. It takes a much smaller amount of pressure to bend a long piece of material than a shorter piece of of the same material. That means while you might be able to achieve the same amount of bend in a smaller area, it takes a hell of a lot more pressure to do so, hence stiffer tip.
  19. why XF? I like a soft tip when fishing jigs, it gives it a reel nice action IMO. And it will get a lot more backbone faster than a slower action rod, which IMO, with braid, equals a good hookset, which IMO you need due to heavier wire hooks used with jigs. And I say H rod for jig weight, and more backbone. Extra Fast action means stiff tip, not soft. The faster the action, the smaller the amount of flex. If you are already using braid, I really don't think you need a broom handle since the braid itself should be enough to help you get a good hook set. The problem with XF tips is that if you have a bionic hookset, you risk injuring the fish by tearing too big of a hole in its mouth or even tearing its jaw apart. Pair that up with braid and it's a real possibility. If you debarb your jig hooks like I do, XF is even worse of a choice because it's a lot harder to maintain constant tension with an extra fast action rod than a fast action rod when fighting the fish. And if you lose tension, the fish will have a good chance to throw the hook.
  20. I'm a terrible angler. I just sound smart.

I fish them like I would a jig. I have heard that swimming them like a lipless crank works too if you push the hook eye out a little closer to the middle of the tube, provided the tube jig you use is made with a 90 degree hook.
  22. I think a green Daiwa Zillion would look cool. Just sayin' It would remind me too much of an E series Curado.
  23. I think they're trying to position themselves as a direct competitor to Abu Garcia. Their 6.7 ounce reel for 180 sounds interesting considering how beefy the drag is. I really dig how they're using carbon fiber handles too.
  24. The only Lake Fork paddle tail worm I can think of is the Hyper Worm.
  25. Cheap and effective: http://www.***.com/Scum_Frog_Popper/descpage-SCMFPOP.html Weedless Spook type Lure: http://www.***.com/Snag_Proof_Weed_Demon/descpage-SPWDD.html Expendables: http://www.***.com/Stanley_Floating_Ribbit_5pk/descpage-SRF.html If you get the Strike King Elaztech 3X stuff, be sure not to mix them up with other types of plastics as it results in a nasty chemical reaction.
