LC Pointer Question
So I recently got my hands on some LC Pointer 125 Triple Joints and some Pointer 65's. Problem is, I'm not really sure when and where to throw these. Anyone got any tips for using these lures effectively? Especially the 65s... they feel a little too light to be thrown on baitcasting gear. Should I be throwing them on spinning gear instead?

Well, the semester about to begin
In what? Consumer behavior, purchase patterns, impact of digital multimedia, etc. I'm an advertising major with a minor in business.

Well, the semester about to begin
As a second semester Junior, I really should be considering beginning some research. Then again I transferred into my major second semester sophomore year so it's a miracle that I'm even graduating on time. Hopefully I will find something after asking around for a bit. Looking forward to spring rush and all the parties though. Gonna have a great first couple of weeks while everyone is still getting their schedules finalized and the professors are still hesitant to assign anything big due to so many students moving around, adding and dropping here and there.

This reel will top the chart this year...
I agree the reel is ugly and WAY overpriced! Diversionary price? Deffinatly! Compared to Apple products? Not a chance! Apple plays a similar pricing game. For instance, they created the IPod Touch and priced it only slightly lower than the Iphone to make the Iphone look that much more appealing. Needless to say, they introduced it right when sales of the Iphone were starting to stagnate. Apple also does this with their 8gb/16gb/32gb models. They don't actually expect people to buy the 32gb models, but they make the 8 and 16 gb ones look hell of a lot cheaper. They also priced the iphone a lot higher initially because they knew the early adopters would be enthusiasts who were willing to pay. Sort of like how Daiwa prices the Steez reels so high. Lately, they are planning to launch a 7 inch version of the Ipad. I highly doubt they plan to make a lot of money from sales for that product. However, it makes the regular Ipad look a hell of a lot better. Expect to see sales of the regular Ipad rise a few weeks after the introduction of the 7 inch version when the enthusiasts have started to crank out mixed reviews. My guess is this reel is going to be similar in concept to that 7 inch Ipad.

V&M swim jigs
Why is that? AFAIK round bend hooks have a better hookup ratio than widegaps.

This reel will top the chart this year...
Not even Daiwa could truly pull it off. Tackle Warehouse ended up putting those 50th anniversary zillions up for a lot lower than MSRP. What makes Cabelas think it can top Daiwa when it comes to having a loyal fanbase of wealthy enthusiast buyers? If any thought was put into this at all, then I suspect that this whole thing is nothing more than a diversionary pricing tactic. Sort of like what Apple does with their PoS products. Not quite sure I buy into the whole anchoring effect though, especially if there really isn't much appeal to justify the price in the first place, unlike the Steez.

Best fisherman on this site....?
You gotta spam more if you want to make yourself known Fat-G!

I would not. Fuego = Fire = Red. All my Fuegos are bright red and I like them that way. Also, $300 is more than I'm willing to pay for a spinning reel.

Left handed? Right Handed? or Both?
But if you grew up using spincasting gear, chances are you're used to casting and reeling with both your right hand if you were born right handed.

How do you treat your combos?
I shore fish a lot at places with tons of trees, gravel, shrubbery, etc along the shoreline, so my stuff inevitably gets roughed up. I don't mind it much, I think it just adds character to them. Then again, I've never really cared about the cosmetics of reels/rods much. Which is why I buy a lot of stuff used. I figure, as long as it's in good mechanical condition, I may as well get em used for cheaper since they'll get dinged and scratched eventually anyway. ;D

How bad is it to always use swivels?
Do you mean snaps? The only time I would ever say it would be a bad idea to use snaps is with topwaters and suspending jerkbaits. They're not good with topwaters because they unbalance them significantly and cause the lures to be nose-heavy. Suspending jerkbaits weigh a specific amount so that they can suspend. Adding a snap may affect the weight of the jerkbait, causing it to sink instead of suspend.

Upgrading equipment, new to some brands, anyone got advice?
LC(RC) = Lucky Craft Rick Clunn Model. They were a collab between Lucky Craft and BPS if I recall correctly. 1.5 and 2.5 are just size differences. Here's a link: http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/PastArticles/Productnews/rc-basspro.htm Norman Fat = Norman Fat Boy crankbait.

Do you know what hooks they use? Man, they are the "stickiest" I have ever fished! No idea. Haven't had a chance to get mine wet yet anyhow. There's absolutely no way I'm throwing them in my usual snag-infested fishing holes. They're so bad I get hung up even while throwing skin hooked T-rigs sometimes. Apparently people were a little overzealous when adding cover to those places because I've pulled out countless tree branches, shrubs and even a length of rolled up chicken wire fencing one time. I'm saving them for when I head up to St Clair again this summer. Hopefully I'll have enough saved up to hang around there for a few days. As long as textbooks don't cost as much this coming semester as they did the last. >

Left handed? Right Handed? or Both?
I only own 2 lefties, and they're both mounted on combos that I very frequently pitch with.

Lucky Craft Gunfish are also a great topwater. The Lucky Craft Wander is a great lipless crankbait of sorts. It's got a minnow profile instead of the standard flat lipless crank body. YoZuri makes a great product. The nice thing about them is that if you're lucky, you can occasionally find them on sale for very low prices at places like BPS and Gander mountain. The Megabass Ito Vision 110 is quite possibly the most popular JDM enthusiast jerkbait out there. I don't know anything about River2Sea simply because I haven't had the chance to try out their stuff yet.

Great Deal on Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft
I've always just used the green stuff. I have some non-ultrasoft Hybrid line in clear on some of my setups as well. Tbh I haven't really noticed a huge difference between the two as far as visibility in the water. Then again, I'm not really a believer of using "invisible" line in the water as to not spook the fish.

Bass Resource and School Relation ?
If you're smart you'll take advantage of AP courses in high school and study hard for the AP exams so you can cruise by during college taking minimum hours every semester. Frees up a ton of time for fishing as well as internships/jobs during the semester which can help you beef up your resume and earn money to feed the bait monkey. Best decision I ever made.

Bass Resource and School Relation ?
I'll be more impressed if you can continue this trend throughout your college years.

Fluorocarbon for topwater?
I once did it because I only had 1 rod/reel in the car. I believe it was 12# Seaguar InvisX. Interestingly enough, it turned a few of my poppers into mini wakebaits when I reeled them in steadily due to them sitting lower in the water from the fluoro sinking and pulling down on them.

What type and weight of jig heads for tubes?
I use these. Weedless and easy to rig.

Yer Favorite Baitcasting reel for under $150.00?
You can get a Daiwa Fuego for around 120-130 if you look around. Very impressive reel and very light as well with its magnesium body frame.

Jig set up
A 6'6" rod is perfectly fine for jigs, IMO. My personal jig rod is a 6'6" MHF Daiwa Cielo, and it works great for me.

amount of drag
I would be careful about using your thumb to force the spool to a stop to horse fish into a boat. Pressing down hard on a spool could potentially bend your spool shaft.

St Clair 2011
Strong winds make for good jerkbait fishing.
