Japanese Bass fishing techniques
Not trying to step on any toes but if you're interested in using a flick shake rig you may want to do a little googling around to see if you can find a custom jig maker who can make em for cheaper. I personally buy weedless wacky jigs from a guy for around 50-75 cents each depending on whether I want them with Matzuo Sickles or Mustad Light Wires. The nice thing about custom orders is that you can also decide on the color, hook size and type of hook. Unless of course you're set on getting only tungsten flick shake jigs. I personally find Jackall wacky jigs to be a little pricey at $6.99 for 3. That isn't to say that I don't have a few packs of them laying around somewhere. ;D

Total Rip-Off
Let's go with your argument that they are general employees and get paid to do whatever is needed, so technically there is no "extra cost" for them to pack up an item and mail it. There's still an opportunity cost, which I assume they decided to factor into the shipping cost. Some businesses do not do this because they believe it will attract more customers. Other businesses, especially local shops with established customer bases, sometimes don't feel the need to attract new customers so much that they would implement customer attraction tactics such as cutting the cost of shipping, so they don't. Their choice really. I don't think there's anything wrong with your initial request. It's a smart attempt to save a few bucks, and I'd do the same if I were you. However, I do think there's something wrong with your expectations for that store. It's their choice how they run their business, and if you don't like it you don't have to become one of their customers.

Spinning reel poll
The Bradia is an average reel at best. I have an old non A model Fuego 2000 that outperformed it by a noticeable margin. Needless to say that Bradia only stayed with me for about a week before I hawked it off to some other poor unfortunate soul.

revo sx vs. stx
From what I understand, more bearings =/= more casting distance. Typically only two out of the many bearings in any given baitcaster affect the casting distance. Those two are the spool bearings - one on each side of the spool. The rest of the bearings are located in the handle and possibly pinion, worm gear, etc. and affect how smooth the retrieve is rather than casting distance. To get noticeable improvements in casting distance, your best bet is to upgrade your current reel's spool bearings to higher ABEC rated ones, such as ABEC-5 or ABEC-7 bearings, and supertune it by polishing points of contact between the spool and the rest of the reel to reduce friction. With this being said, it's often more cost effective to soup up your current reel than to purchase a new higher end model if you're only looking to upgrade reels. However, if you actually need another reel period, it may be worth getting a higher end model to begin with to eliminate the hassle of obtaining bearings and supertuning materials or finding someone to do all the tuning work for you.

15# Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I use 15# for pitching directly into cover. I typically use 10# for spinnerbaits, finesse jigs and T-Rigs. Occasionally I will bump it up to 12# if I'm fishing areas with lots of underwater brush. I've yet to lose a fish due to line failure.

Christmas Loot thread!
I was told ahead of time that I was gonna get a check from my mom for Christmas, so I went ahead and bought myself some gear over the course of the last month for being such a good boy this year. ;D So now I have added a supertuned CV-Z 103, a carbon fiber handle to go with it and another Alphas Ito to my collection.

Misshapen Plastics?
Hmm... I wouludn't accept one "deformed". For a snmall premium, Rage Tail baits are 100% due to premium packaging. I expect nothing less. Actually, one of the baits I received slightly deformed was the 7" Rage Tail thumper worm. It appears the thumper worms are not housed in a clamshell and are instead arranged loose on a flexible plastic sheet. Honestly though, I doubt any of this is due to the fault of the manufacturer. I had a lot of stuff in the package so my guess is that rough handling probably caused all the compression and deformities.

I hate No-Va-Cane
Peridontal issues are always a pain in the ***. Too bad mine are genetic. Not a darn thing I can do except maintain good oral hygiene and hope for the best. Hmmmmm, do you need a dentist, or a gastroenterologist? A colonoscopy to examine your wisdom teeth? Ever seen the movie "Teeth"? ;D

Misshapen Plastics?
Hadn't thought of that. You may be on to something here.

Misshapen Plastics?
So I ordered some plastic baits from TW, and they arrived today. Problem is, some of the bags appear to have been squashed and the baits inside (brush hogs, worms, etc) seem to have warped. They look a little misshapen. For instance, some of the brush hogs are now a little flat looking and have a little bend in them. Will this kind of thing affect the action of the baits significantly? I don't feel like complaining to TW unless I have a good reason to. The last thing I need is for them to try and ship out replacements to me when the ones I got had nothing more than cosmetic flaws. No point in that considering how good they've been to me this year.

Favorite Fluoro?
P-Line Halo has impressed me quite a bit this fall, although it is on the pricey side. One downside of the line is that its durability can be compromised if you "snap" your line like a bowstring when trying to get a lure unstuck. I still use the stuff because of all its other positive qualities.

What should I call this color?
Looks like a cross between "Red Bug" and "Plum" colors of Rage Tail thumper worms.

Baitcast skipping rod?
I find rods with moderate fast or fast action to be easier to skip with than XF rods. Preferably a lighter rod and reel too since I find skipping with a BC to be easier when you can snap your wrist sharply without much effort. I think the reel choice has a little to do with it as well. I personally have a significantly easier time skipping with my Magforce V reels than my Magforce Z or Centrifugal Braking reels, although this might be different for others. I also find limper more manageable lines to be desirable - I have a much easier time skipping with YoZuri Hybrid 12# Ultrasoft on a BC than say, 12# CXX. Still doable with the CXX, although it takes a bit more focus and effort.

XMAS Xchange -- Show us the loot thread
You will be looking for a thin slot about 3/4"-1" wide and about 1.5-2 millimeters tall. The SD card should slide right in, and your computer should recognize it and a prompt should pop up asking what you want to do with it (open folders, view pictures, etc) a few seconds after.

Their Diesel Craw looks like it could be a serious competitor to the Hula Grub.

Daiwa Viento
If it's a light setup you're looking for I would suggest looking into getting a used Daiwa Fuego or Sol. Fuegos can be had for around 100-120 used, and Sols anywhere from 120-150 used. Heck, I sold a BNIB Fuego to a forum member for 120 a while back. There will be more.

For those of us not throwing a jig/trailer combo
The guy could probably do something similar, but as you describe it i would think the tubes would need to be secured better than that. They'll still float up and down. It's just a rough sketch. He would have to wrap the rope more than once around each inner tube and pull it fairly snug. He could probably just use a long piece of metal or wood and stick it through an end loop and let torsion do the work of tightening the rope though. I think it may just work though.

Trolling at work...
You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference unless you were looking for it. Switch a jack and coke with an evan and pepsi when they're 6 or 7 drinks in and I doubt even whisky afficionados could tell the difference.

Music?
I'm actually fairly surprised no one mentioned Radiohead or Muse. Sure, Muse kind of sold out when they agreed to have one of their songs put on the Twilight soundtrack and when they started sounding more "Pop-y", but some of their older songs are still great. Some more honorable mentions: The Police The Eagles The Killers Eric Clapton Franz Ferdinand Post 2000 Jimmy Eat World Calvin Harris Chromeo Justice Phoenix Passion Pit

XMAS Xchange -- Show us the loot thread
Well, my camera's broken and I can't find the data cable to my phone or a microSD adapter, so I guess pictures are outta the question for me as well. Still, here's what I got from Bird Dog: 2pk Mattlures 4.5" Mattshad, Fast Sink, a very nice NorthStar Custom Baits spinnerbait, and a couple of jigs from them as well. Never thrown the shads before so it'll be a learning experience for me, but I throw NorthStar stuff all the time so the jigs and spinnerbait will be put to good use for sure! @Grimlin, if your camera ain't broken, you can take pictures, pop out the SD card, and stick that directly in your computer. Most laptops and PCs made in the last couple of years have a slot for them. Edit: Correction - I got TWO spinnerbaits. Don't know how I missed seeing the second one.
