  1. I use 10-12 lbs for deep cracking and sometimes with jerkbaits in baitcasters, haven't have any problems, it does sink faster than other fluoros that I have used in the past.
  2. David is there any difference between right spiraled versus left? Is there such a thing as right spiral for right handle reel ? Thanks
  3. Me too....I have both.
  4. The SJR723 is way above the other 2 you've mentioned.
  5. If you live close to Trenton, the Sportmen Center offers reel service for most brands, my personal expirience, after they serviced my Accurist I had to send it to David to get it fix.
  6. Of the one you have listed the 843 all the way. I have both 843 & 844 in IMX and GLX, they are all super rods.
  7. That is a Hell of a trout....Congrats to your friend. Was he fly fishing ?
  8. RW you just need good baitcasters.....through away all this obsolete Curados and get a Pixy or an Alpha. ;D ;D Please don't but I couldn't pass it
  9. Welcome. 1) I don't know what you mean by "...one for soft bait and one for lures....." they are lures too. 2) Leaders. Always when using braid line. Rx, rod protection and less visibility. But a lot of people don't so it come to preferences. 3) Snaps. With treble hook lures that I'm going to change frequently like crankbaits and jerkbaits. Rx Speed, specially on tournaments, saving a couple of feet of line is not in my considerations. Never with soft plastics. 4) Baitcasters. 80 % of my presentation are with them. Rx. Speed and Power over spinning gear. I hope it helps. Keep shooting questions....there are always well received in this forum. Good luck.
  10. Swimbaits are like heroin......highly addictive and very expensive.
  11. I use all the DTs and I like them a lot but the lip is very fragile, broke 3 of the just last month.
  12. Most people will pitch with a baitcaster. There are many good rods out there but I can't think in a better reel than the TD-Z 105. I use braid for this technique.
  13. Yes I did!!!!great buy....it is my jig rod.
  14. I fish the Big and Fat Ikas a lot, to the point that I'm planning in getting a dedicated set. It is a 1/2 oz lure ( with the hook I use ) and I fish mostly moderate to heavy cover, pitching most of the time, 50/50 boat/shore. I'm thinking between the BCR 803 and 804, the extra fast tip is very attractive, but will take other suggestions. Thanks.
  15. Good point.....it also works well at the joints of hard swimbaits.
  16. The weight reduction is very nice but I'm not sure is a good trade for a handle support by 4 ball bearings + $ 50.00 in the STX.
  17. There is not an objective answer to that question. Like Reelmechanic said, budget is a good beginning.
  18. They only thing again this is that limited your rod selection tremendously....buy from sources that have a good return policy. Best luck with your Revo, I have the STX and I'm very satisfied with it.
  19. I use Sufix 15 lbs ( 4lbs ) with A P-line CX 12 lbs leader...there are too many shopping carts and other " cover " in my waters to go any lighter.
  20. That is my next rod.....d**n Monkey
  21. I hit a tree with mine, I have also broken some of my Loomis, Airrus and Okumas. I have no problems with seating any reel on mine.....Scorpion, Alphas, Pixy and Revo.
  22. This is the one I have been using lately just b/c I got a few bottles on a promotion, I see a clear improvement on line loops in spinning reels but I'm not that impress with baitcasters. I don't wipe anything off ( in the bottle instructions said to let it dry ), just spray the spool. It is not a reel lubricant at all.
  23. The weight of the Premier is impressive but I rather have 4 ball bearings handle of the STX. Definitely a Revo
  24. I have the He66MLC, already for a year or so, the things I like best are, virtually no weight, the ability to cast 1/16 lures, and the handle, no fore grip. I haven't had any issues with the guides and they are pretty. I use to cast mostly small jerks and cranks, down to Baby Griffons. I snapped the rod in half 3 month ago ( my fault ) this gave the opportunity to test their "No Hassle" warranty, for $ 50.00 I have a new rod at my door steps in 7 days. I will have more Kistler in the future. Good luck with them
  25. I'm not a Shimano fan with BC but the Symetre became by far my favorite spinning reel, ........light, fast and tough.
