  1. The floating is the only lipless that i use consistently from Rap-L-Trap. The same scenario, shallow grass beds where the regular ones will not work.
  2. lubina replied to Anglin's topic in Fishing Tackle
    I should be at 25-30
  3. And bringing dirt inside. Right now my favorite is my newest....Alpha Type F but the rest of my TD-Zs and Quantums are nearby.
  4. The same here and I extend it to all soft plastic. Sufix 50 for me
  5. Agree with senko77, I haven't set mine yet but the details of that lure are unbelivable, also the East Coast Series are great, I got the perch and I there is no question in my mind that is the best imitation of the marquet.
  6. I only have 1 rod that was bought in the store. It is perfect, in theory, to get your reel, go to the store, try it and so on but you selection is going to be very restricted. Most of my sets are technique specific and the result of my research with the manufactories, builders and this and other forums. I still have to regret one and rarely I've moved a reel to a different rod of the one I thought will be for it.
  7. Like RW said....NO WAY!!!!!!
  8. Real California 130 in light trout
  9. E-Glass for me with the deep divers
  10. Again: Because you are an old fart that learned to fish with righty baitcasters when baitcasters were only manufactured in righty version. You are right in the " old fart " part but I use left hand retrieve only. I did tried to learn with an old right Curado.....I still can see it rear showing up in a hole in my garage wall. ;D... man I hated it!!!!!
  11. I'm exactly the same......one thing, the reels that you get back are not the same that you've sent him , they may look alike but you would realize that they are not the first time that you cast one of them. PHENOMENALS!!!!!
  12. I can't see one good reason to change hands after a cast.
  13. Same here. Last month I lost the ceramic ring of my top guide. I gave them a call asking for the guide, it was overnight delivered and no charge.
  14. Custom CBR845 with Quantum Tour and P-Line CX 15 lbs.
  15. With an extra fast action....interesting
  16. Agree. What are you planning to use it for? Just curios
  17. For the small ones any regular H flipping rod can't do it but be aware most of them are rated to only 1.5 oz max. and you can damage the tip of you rod going any higher. If you can afford Linghtninrod set, that is ideal. I fish my heaviest lures ( Max 8" for my bass ) with the Okuma H 7.10, just b/c I prefer shorter handle but if you are OK with a longer the 7.11 H or EH are great. For reel I do OK with Shimano Cardiff 301 and line P-Line CXX 25 lbs and now P-Line Evolution.
  18. I just got my first Kistler, LTA ML 6.6. My first impression is of a very well finished rod, ultra light, a very comfortable handle and no foregrip. I give my first try tomorrow match with a Alpha and a couple of Griffons.
  19. I own 2 Alphas and 2 pixys, and they appear to be the exact same size to me. The Pixy has plenty of line capacity for 10lb test and under. I do like my Alphas, and upgraded the spools to I'ZE ultralight spools with tuned rotors and ceramic bearings. This made an improvement, but they still will not match the Pixy's casting ability. The Pixy is available from Brooklyn Bill for $247, and the Alphas Type F can be had for $189 from Ginrinpeche (ebay store). As Raul said, out of the reels mentioned, I would go with the Alphas hands down 8-) I don't have the Pixy anymore so I can't compare but my impression was that is smaller, I know that is lighter and the spool diameter is smaller.
  20. I use P-Line Fluoroclear or CX 10-12 lbs except for deep cranking that I switch to P-Line Fluorocarbon
  21. I found the Pixy too small and very little spool capacity, so I returned and got a Type F, this reel cast like a dream, even better than my favorite TD-Z or my Scorpion 1001.
  22. LC GunFish for me.
  23. I use it for big swimbaits, is very strong and cast well, for worms I prefer something more sensitive and with less memory, like braid
