Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Unfortunately they catch fish, just stupid fragile. Needed another medium running flatside, so thought I'd try one. I liked the color, kind of a shad/crappie color. Interesting bait too. It's a great color and hard to find for a reason.

Daylight Savings Time
I just think it's stupid we change the clocks around twice a year. I like my extra time in the afternoon and not having to wake up quite as early to be at the lake at first like though.

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
Flouro is a big time "You get what you pay for", product IMO. I've had decent success with lower end products from Seaguar, Sunline, and Vicious, but occasional issues made the benefits marginal. When I tried high end lines like Tatsu, Shooter, and Gamma Edge, that's when I really got to experience the benefits of a flouro line. There's some good middle of the road lines also, but the top end is worth spending the extra on. I only use it for what I view it as it's true strength, bottom contact baits. It's a waste of money using it for anything else IMO. A good mono or copolymer can do the job that a lot of people use fluoro for, line cranking or jerkbaits.

Road To The Super Bowl 2023
He saw that his competition in the NFC is A-A-ron and??? Got to like those odds to make a deep playoff run barring injury to key players.

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
I had about given up on flouro until I tried Tatsu. First time out I had a fish run my T-rig through the heart of a big tree with 15lb test. Never thought I'd ever see it but it wrestled her back through it all. I change mine out a couple times a year usually but I only spool about 50 yards at a time so I'm getting 4 spools of line off each spool of Tatsu, makes it more palatable.

Braided line - which ones stand out?
Got some new Spro Finesse 8X braid Lime Green 10# on my Ned rig rod. Got to use it for the first time this last weekend.

Frogs vs Poppers
I use braid for almost all topwaters except buzzbaits and propbaits with a front prop. My popper rod has straight 20lb braid, no leader. The whole "You need a leader to prevent tangling on the front treble", thing is way overblown and just 1 more knot to fail. Braid on treble hooked topwaters is great because you don't have to set the hook, just reel and lean into them. That way if they miss you don't pull the bait away from them either. I lose way fewer topwater fish since going to straight braid than when I used mono.

Teckel Kicknocker vs. Reaction Innovations Vixen
I don't have any personally, but have seen them in use and neither did anything real impressive to me. They looked very similar to the 6th Sense Catwalk that I fish a lot and is a super productive bait for me. If I need an overhyped topwater, I break out my Paycheck Repo man ?

Tandem or double willow spinnerbaits for spring?
In cold, clear to stained water, I'd go with a Colorado/Indiana blade combo.

Flat sided crankbait craze - options and experiences?
The Frittside is weighted very well so it cast great and then rises slowly, a very nice feature for cutting through the wind and then allowing for a slow or stop and go retrieve. They're silent also for those neutral cold water fish. The Spro Little Jon has been around quite a while now and has a lower sounding single knocker instead of BB's, which is what I prefer in a cold water crank. The OG Slim was pretty good for me last winter but can't get touched on it this winter. The water was down last year so I think it was just able to get where it needed to be and can't do it this year. The regular DT6 has been the better crank this winter. The Strike King KVD HC Flat Side 1.5 has been my #1 big fish crank for about 4 years in a row now, including catching my only fish over 6 so far this year as well as another over 5.

New Shimano crankbaits in hand
Haven't seen their crankbaits but I'm really interested in their new jerkbaits.

Table rock color jerkbaits...
I like cloudy days if it's the bright chart/purple version of Table Rock Shad. If it's a more muted version like 6th Sense Table Rock Pro, it's a good clear water color. Megabass' Table Rock SP is the color I like in sunny conditions and greenish stained water.

Chatterbait colors
Cloudy and raining, I know what color I'd be throwing. These are my main colors I carry in my bladed jig box.

Different wake baits
I kill the fish with a Slammer, can't hardly get bit with a rat ?♂️ I caught my swimbait PB on a Slammer so I have a soft spot for them. Bull Shad Wake is a solid bait also for a better fish profile.

Small lake breakdown
Looking at it on Google, you've got a good amount of standing timber to play with. Quite a few spots where your have tight contour lines close to the shoreline where you're going to have fast drops, good spots to look early in the season and the coves close to those points with quick drops are likely where they'll pull into first since those have deeper water the closest to them. Overall, the south side of the lake looks better to me just through the eye test, but on the water and Google maps might look completely different. I like the last little bit of deeper water on the west end before you hit the big shallow flats also, that would warm very quickly during a warming trend.

New lures for 2022
Same with their jerkbait but it is a fish catcher for sure and for a few dollars less.

Jackal Rearrange
I like jerkbaits in warm water also and it's pretty similar retrieve. Jerkbait retrieve with no pauses and very aggressive snaps. I also prefer to go either small or large on the baits, the 100-110 sized baits don't seem to work as well.

Thankful !!
Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages · Learn more sport /spôrt/ noun 1. an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. So by the dictionary definition, I think fishing is certainly considered a sport. I'm thankful to my parents for taking me, both my mom and dad. Dad took me actually fishing the most, but my mom use to take me to the lake a lot and drop me off before I was old enough to drive.
