Biggest bites...
Location is the most important part. Doesn't matter what bait you put in the water, if there's no big fish where you're fishing you're not going to catch any. If I needed to catch a big fish a jig would be one of the baits I'd be tying on though.

Fall topwater
I like the Boss Pop, but I have one specific Zell Pops that is one of those baits that just has "it". That thing outfishes even the other Zell Pops I have in the exact same color. I don't know if it sounds different or maybe because the paint is ate off it, the thing is just a killer. I don't know how many sets of hooks it's gone through, but it's a bunch. Hasn't had eyes for a few years now.

What doors has bass fishing opened for you?
It's my stress relief. Addiction and mental health are big issues in my family. You're either a raging alcoholic or suffer from crippling depression. I enjoy a drink occasionally, and I get down once in awhile, but fishing doesn't leave me enough time to waste with either. I've met a lot of friends, almost all of my regular fishing buddies are guys I've met off of the forums, and I'm always looking forward to fishing with others I haven't yet. Lots of folks I consider friends that I've never met, just because I've interacted with them on here so much. It opened the door to me being a mod on this forum, which has been a pretty cool experience.

Sometimes You Just Have To Laugh
Had one about that bad with my frog rod not too long ago and actually managed to pick it out. I'm too cheap to just cut up a spool of Smackdown.

Sad/kind of funny
Skeeters are lightweights compared to black flies, glad we don't have them here. The mosquitoes down by the Kansas River are terrible. I swear they'll just lick bug spray off you like a lime chaser for a tequila shot. I think it's all the pollution in the river transforming them into super bugs or something. I used to sleep all the way inside my sleeping bag when I'd catfish all night, no matter how hot it was, better than getting eaten alive by those things. I have a bite on the back of my heel right now that itches like crazy and I can't get it scratched good enough through my work boots, it's killing me!

Fact about skunk weed { chara } that I didnt know .
I've never had much luck fishing around the stuff. Seems like if I'm fishing milfoil and suddenly start getting into that stuff, I stop getting bit. Redear sunfish love it though, I imagine snails probably eat it and they, in turn, eat the snails.

The Breakout Bass
There's a reason a lot of new boats come with sliding clear lids now, you're not the first person it's happened to.

Lake's First Tournament
We had an agreement that if we had boys I got to name them and if they were girls my wife got to name them (within reason). That's how I ended up with 2 boys named Lake and Finn.

40 Year Old Virgin: Never Frogged Before
You're going to have a really difficult time hooking a fish on a fiberglass rod and a frog, composite won't be much better. I've used a 7' MH/F Lightning Rod Shock for frogs plenty of times and it works pretty well. You can order a spool of KastKing Super Power off Ebay with free shipping for under $5 for your braided line. A lot of techniques you can get away with a multipurpose type rod and reel, frogging isn't one of them.

Heading out tonight... tips?
There is a twilight period when the fish's eyes switch from cones to rods where they have a difficult time seeing the bait and don't seem to move around much and feed very little, usually seems to last 30 minutes to an hour. It's similar to the time when it gets dark enough that we can no longer see color and our eyes have to adjust to the darkness. The bite usually picks up after that when it's completely dark out.

First time frogger
I've fished them on bright green braid and had no problem catching fish. The places you're fishing a frog they're not going to be able to see the line anyways.

Tonight I discovered my greatest fear.
I've done the same many times. A single stick can be used to dislodge a hook by pushing on the bend of the hook, or you can find a thin, green limb and bend it in half to use them as hook pullers. It works pretty well in a pinch.

Favorite?
I was a big fan of the Zoom Horny Toad until they got so expensive. Really been liking the Yum Tip Toad since it came out though.

How have you simplified soft plastic choice?
I only fish a few colors and stick to mainly a few brands. It cut down on the amount of baits I carry drastically. There's obviously exceptions, but when I came to the realization that I had baits that I'd carried for years and never even cracked them open, it became obvious there was no reason to carry them any longer.

Skunked bad
The summer to fall transition period is always tough. Losing baits is just kicking a man while he's down though.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Me neither, and I've never seen a white perch in person, but I've always heard they look like a small white bass without the stripes.

Poppers
Yes, it's huge and I couldn't get it to work like I wanted it to. IMO, if you want a large profile popping bait, I'd go with a pencil popper style bait.

Kast King Baitcaster
Oh I agree completely with the terribly overdone unboxing "reviews". A person can't give anything but an initial reaction from just opening a box and removing a product from it's container. A reel can look pretty, but if it's not functional those looks don't matter. It really mucks up the waters with those and the guys who use them once and give sparkling reviews. I can tell you that I own 5 KK baitcasters and 4 spinning reels and paid for all but 2 of them out of my pocket. They get fished with regularly and have all performed well and I'd have no problems buying more and I'm sure I will. The video I posted earlier in this thread was almost all with the Assassin.

Phew!!!!
I was working. Double time for working 8 hours and not dealing with the crowds on the water, I'll take it.

One of the most fascinating things about fishing.
I am, I get what you're saying now, people don't have to see the harsher side of life partially because of police.
