  1. My frog and buzzbait storage is very similar. A large Tupperware container with no lid that sits in the storage of my boat.
  2. Not at all defending, because it's a obvious copy and saying they took a bunch of time designing it is laughable, but the Bass Mafia version has a flatten/squared off belly that acts like a keel because one of the biggest issues with the Magdraft is rolling and that's supposed to help with that issue. Don't think there's many differences other than that. I've caught hundreds of fish on a WP, still have never caught a fish on a Choppo, despite carrying at least a half dozen of them in various sizes and colors. Big fan of most of Berkleys offerings, and I'll be eagerly waiting for the Cull Shad to hit the shelves to try one for myself.
  3. I've been using the 8lb for leader on my spinning rods and have zero complaints.
  4. I fish more rock than anything else, along with a fair amount of water willows and laydowns. Use to have several lakes with decent grass but the state has taken to poisoning the grass, which has really messed up the fishing and brought on lovely toxic algae blooms instead of healthy vegetation.
  5. I'm ready for the cold to be over, but I'm not ready for the fat winter bass to be over, a catch 22 I suppose.
  6. They burned off all the tall grass on the dam on the lake by my house so I decided to walk it because it gets a ton of pressure, glad I did. My second find made the whole short trip worth it. It'll need cleaned up and repainted, but a pre-rap wart is a pre-rap wart. I also found a broken bill KVD 300, along with a 6th Sense Movement 80, KVD 1.5, and a Rebel Crawdad that didn't hide from the fire good enough to be saved.
  7. A light rod is going to do everything you're trying to do better than an UL will. The UL will make the fights a little more enjoyable, but a nice L rod will still be a blast playing even small creek fish.
  8. Agree with this. Most rods have a "sweet spot", somewhere in between what they're rated for, that they function best with. Not saying you can't, or that I never do, but I wouldn't buy a rod with the intention of fishing above what it's rated for regularly.
  9. I'd say they'd be a mushy mess but I can't imagine them being much more mushy than they already are.
  10. No idea, they all taste horrible to me ?. They male excellent cutbait for catfish though. I saved a few just for that reason. I've caught 3 over 6 from that lake, 2 of them were the same day about 15 minutes apart.
  11. I have the 7' 3" H/XF and I think it'll work just fine for frogs. I use mine for jigs up to 3/4oz and it does it no problem. As long as you're not in really heavy cover, I don't think you'll have any issues.
  12. I use them a lot for both and there is no universal rule for either. I like bright colors for smallmouth, but largemouth love them too. Smallmouth here seem to like longer pauses than largemouth when the water is cold, but then like the bait sped up when it's warmer. I fish jerkbaits for both well into summer. I picked up one of the new KVD Elites last week with smallmouth in mind, but all it kept doing this past weekend was catching largemouth. Bone is one of the most universal colors I've found.
  13. I've got the 10lb on my Ned rig rod and I've been really happy with it.
  14. Very few of the baits mentioned are what I think of when someone asks about a prop bait. IMO, a plopper is a group all it's own and so is a buzzbait. Just different baits designed to be fished differently. The Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop is my favorite single prop, the Berkley Spin Rocket is my favorite double prop.
  15. Winter is toughest, but fall is a close second. I probably dislike fall more because it's typically harder for me to find big fish in fall than winter.
  16. Went to lake in search of big trout eaters on opening weekend for trout season. Didn't find any big ones but lots of nice quality fish. Stony found one of the monster trout, a 6.38 pounder on a KVD 1.5. No idea how many fish we caught but it was pretty nonstop action all day for bass and trout.
  17. Got out for just a couple hours tonight but I took the new kayak and my oldest son to test it out. He's been excited to try it out so we had to take advantage of an almost 60 degree and calm afternoon. I only took 2 rods and the baits on them and he had 1 rod with 1 bait. I just got done fishing a little cut when he snuck in behind me and plucked the first fish of the trip out on his Ned rig. Thankfully I caught 2 right as the end to save face because I was taking some serious ribbing.
  18. Karl's always has cool baits that don't seem to be available anywhere else. The Biospawn Exo Ned was a big time winner for me last year and I haven't been able to find it anywhere but Karl's. The discount is nice if you're a member also ?
  19. I've got a few glides that run over $200, but I've caught more fish on a Shine Glide in the 7.25" version than any others. That would be my favorite of the affordable glides. I fish the Clutch Glide more than any other on the north of $100 end of things.
  20. It is, I've used it on many occasions. The biggest issue is the worm nose mold fits mostly 1/0 or smaller hooks, so you don't have enough hook gap on most tubes except for small 2.5-3 inch tubes that are fairly thin. I don't fish tubes on a jighead that are bigger than that hardly ever though, so they work for what I need them to do. That said, they're not my first choice for a tube head, I use one of the actual tube head molds, but they'll work just fine in a pinch.
  21. They're a good bait and that is one of my favorite colors they make. It's a mass produced plastic bait, so I wouldn't worry about saving it for collectors or anything.
  22. Welcome!
