  1. I usually go for the walking baits that sit higher in the water when I'm going to fish a faster retrieve, or in choppy water. For poppers, I like the bigger chugging type baits in darker water, especially if the fish are chasing gills. I reach for the smaller spitting or skittering baits in clearer conditions, or when fish are feeding on shad/shiners.
  2. Looks like you're in the neighborhood of what that fish should weigh.
  3. Same lines I use during the summer.

  5. IMO, Bill is right up there with Roland on the marketing stuff. It's like watching a 30 minute fishing infomercial. I just can't deal with it. Bill's a super nice guy in person, but I can't watch his show. MLF, Zona's AFS, and FLW are on the DVR right now. I have WFN, Outdoor Channel, and one other though so I have fishing shows on 24/7
  6. When the bunks on my tin boat's trailer needed replaced, I went with Ultimate Bunk Boards. I was nervous at first, because they flex under their own weight, but after a couple years of use they were still going strong with no signs of slowing down. They are slick, so you have to keep the boat hooked up until it's in the water, and strap it down before you pull it out. My Roughneck use to shoot off the trailer like a wet bar of soap. They're suppose to last the life of the boat so if you're planning on keeping it for a long time, I'd look into those for sure.
  7. I saw Jermaine's fish on FB, that is a tank! It looks like a bass from Mexico, but not any kind of a hybrid, just a straight up fattie!
  8. If your tension knob is really loose it can be a cause of side to side play.
  9. Just be glad you don't work with your ex where you both have guns and tasers, trust me.
  10. Welcome!
  11. Probably, we're mostly staying at the same place already.
  12. Mine runs maybe 8' on 10lb but I doubt it gets that deep. It's a good bait, no idea how you would get to 22' though. It could probably be fished on a spinning rod and 8lb test and maybe hit 12-15.
  13. The shad rap, flicker shad and minow would be the best options I can think of. Going to have to make really long cast with thin line to touch 20' though.
  14. Apparently there's an early season discount prices if you buy your fishing license now. I got $8 off my combo license (of course I got gouged for more than that in inconvenience fees for doing it online), but if you have to buy then anyways, might as well save some money.
  15. I've always assumed those fish just had the tail of the bait but they either turned, or grabbed it on a slack line so when I lifted the bait wrapped under their chin and ended up getting hooked under their mouth.
  16. Any of you guys that are going to the Classic and need some baits, let me know ASAP because I'm going to order the materials for everything soon so I can get to work on stuff. I have a ton of already poured swimbait and tube heads. Going to be ordering some components to make some A-rigs and pouring a bunch of Ned heads for myself. Trying not to make it a last minute thing like it usually is and with the cold weather I'm much more likely to be able to keep myself away from the lake and actually do stuff. I'm sure it will primarily be a jerkbait bite if you're planning on fishing Grand, and probably at the other area lakes, but if you're going to Beaver I'd highly suggest having some A-rigs on hand if you don't already. They had to have blades on them last time I was on an A-rig bite there but might not be the case this time. You can buy them for about the same price they are to make but I like to customize mine so I'll be pouring and building my own.
  17. Agreed, that was a big fish catching machine! Can't count how many big springtime bass I caught on a black 8" power lizard. Tried other brands but they just don't produce like that one did.
  18. I would say that the Pit Boss is probably one of the most innovative baits in the Havoc lineup. I don't know of any other bait with those appendages and that action. It's certainly become a staple for a ton of anglers all around the country, myself included.
  19. Trixie or Vixen (Reaction Innovations bait names).
  20. I like my Mettles way better than I like my PQ but there is nothing wrong with the PQs, just my personal preference that I like the Mettles better.
  21. I have fished these things consistently for over 2 years now and still haven't caught a fish on them yet! Even when the white bass are on the banks heavy I can't get one of them to eat it. They look great in the water, and I'm not ready to give up on them yet, but man they're making it tough!
