This Weather Is Killing Me
We were just in the 70's a week ago. . . now it's in the 30's. . . Missouri weather sucks, but at least its not snowing. . . . yet. . .

Do Any Of You Put You're Other Hobbies On The Backburner For Fishing ?
My hunting time is unaffected by my fishing time. I will be out in the woods come Monday morning for spring turkey. I'm lucky though, in Missouri you can only hunt until 1pm. So I will hit the lake for some evening fishing! I don't go to the range much anymore, though more due to being unable to find ammo. . . I have put photography on the back burner since I'm usually out fishing at the best times for landscape photography.

How To Deal With Complete Beginners?
I have a friend like this. He knows his way around bass fishing okay, but he is still pretty green. I figure that I'm just passing it on and it's part of fishing. Teaching a friend new techniques and such. Losing lures is part of fishing, and I'm not the wealthy type that can replace lost lures on a whim. I would go out and buy some line to re-spool his reel with. Maybe suggest that he gets a proper rod and reel, descent but on the cheap. Then I would give him something that he can't go wrong with but wont cost a fortune if he loses it. Start him on soft plastics and educate him if he's doing something wrong. If he shows interest, educate him some more and introduce some more complicated lures. If he really shows interest, suggest to him that he needs to build up his own tackle box. It's all about teaching to me. When my daughter comes of age, I wont hesitate to let her lose my lures, cause I'm passing it on or "paying it forward" so to speak.

Climate Control- Doing Your Part To Keep Our Wilderness Beautiful
The oceans may cover the land that our feet rest today, but let us not forget the tectonic plates. As the land is slowly being eroded away by all that you mentioned, it is also being pushed forth in other places. And we should also not forget where all of that rain/snow that floods our rivers comes from. The rain that falls comes from the evaporation of the oceans. Once it reaches the clouds it condenses and falls as rain. So while the rain may cause the erosion, it is not in fact adding to the height of the oceans, it is simply replenishing the evaporated water. It is all one big cycle. As to the original post, I agree that we should all do our part to help improve the environment that we live in. We only have one world, why continue to trash it. But with this said, I have serious problems with the validity of the science behind global warming/climate change. I honestly believe that they (scientists) have yet to figure out what is going on. Lets try not to forget that this round rock that we inhabit has gone through cycles such as this long before humans laid their bare feet on the dirt. If global warming/climate change is truly man made then the damage very well may have already been done and we are on a crash course for disaster.

Noodling For Bass
It must be true cause it's on the internet. . . . At this point I don't trust too many internet video's/gifs. Too easy to manipulate things now. Doesn't help that it's a gif, meaning he could have removed the slides showing the line pulling the bass to him. . . . if that's what he did. I don't buy it either way.

How Many Times Have You Taken A Hook To The Body
Had a friend sink a crank deep into the side of my neck on the back cast. I have a few nice scars from the Dr. removing that one. With all of the meaty goodness (carotid, jugular) in the neck I didn't want to risk yanking it out myself. Other than that I've never had one go past the barb. . . yet. . . . I always wear sunglasses now after seeing a pic on here of a guy with a hook in the eye. . . yikes. . .

Starting Out Right
We've finally warmed up here in Mid Missouri! 70's for most of next week! I haven't been out much in the last few weeks because of the snow. We've had a few late winter storms for the region. I'm still trying to do my spring work on my boat (oil change and such), so I haven't been out much. Beat the banks a few times and got skunked, but was still worth the time. Still fishless in '13.

Walmart Lure Extravaganza
I got about 6 zara spooks for $1.50 each today. Also picked through the $2.95 bin and scored 6 Xcalibur xcs 100 cranks.

"god's Groceries" Fishing To Feed The Needy
I never did understand this mentality. People claim that deer hunting is good for the population because it thins the heard and keeps them from overcrowding. Why is it not good for the fish population as well? I understand that over fishing is harmful, but that is why we have creel limits. I do practice catch and release a vast majority of the time, but I also like to take some home to eat every once in a while. As to the original topic, I think its an interesting idea and worth a shot.

Weather And Bass Fishing
While I think it's important to understand weathers effects on fish habits, I think it's more important to be on the water fishing. I will never turn down a chance to go fishing because the weather supposedly makes the bite poor.

Do You Worry About Exposure To Lead?
I'm gonna say that as long as your not eating large amounts of your led weights, it shouldn't pose a problem. Sun exposure is far more dangerous than the handling of led sinkers. . .

Pitching With Spinning Rig?
I learned how to pitch with a spinning reel and found it quite easy compared to learning on my new baitcaster. Guess it's just a matter of practice. As for your question I'm gonna answer with another question. Why do so many people with a baitcaster cast with their right and then switch the rod to their left to reel with their right hand? It's a matter of whats comfortable for the user.

More Snow
We got 8 here in Jefferson City. . . so sick of winter. . .

When Does Winter End?
The birds are everywhere here in Mid-Missouri. Looking at 6-8" of snow overnight and through Sunday. SMH. . . tired of winter. . .

Would You Call In Sick To Go Fishing?
I work three 12's a week, I'm off more than I work so I have no need to call in sick. If I plan my schedule right I can end up with 6 days off and still work all of my hours! I love nursing!

Lews Tournament
I've been seeing the building up of quite the Lews following here lately, and reviews seem to indicate that Lews makes quite a nice reel. Since I'm not tied to any specific brand and Lews makes LH models in most gear ratios, I'm considering purchasing a few. My question is, what is the difference between the Tournament and the Tournament Pro other than the light weight measures of the Pro such as the duralumin gears?

Pink Floyd Got It Right..
It's sad when this statement is quickly becoming a reality. Too many people getting worthless degrees at high cost universities and then not being able to find work to pay off their commitments. In a day and age where a degree is a must for well paying work, you would think people would actually THINK about the degree they are seeking and what kind of FUTURE they will have with that degree. . .

Who Got New Combos Over The Winter?
Picked up a BPS Pro Qualifier as my first baitcaster and put it on a MH lightning shock rod based on my budget. Loving my first baitcaster now and plan on adding a Lews Tournament Pro to my arsenal in the next few weeks!

How Many Wins For The Royals?
I'm a die hard Cards fan, but have to root for the other home team as well. With recent history, I have a hard time believing this season will be any different than the past decade. . . 80 wins tops. . . Chiefs have made some moves in this off season, they may surprise you this season. Then again, I thought MU had a chance in football in the SEC and . . . well. . . they sucked. . . .

Can't Find .22 Ammo
Never seen a shortage of ammo like this period. I cant find 9mm or .22 ammo ANYWHERE! I have asked when stores get shipments and wait patiently at the counter on shipment day only to find out they have none. This is getting ridiculous! I actually want to go shoot, not just horde ammo like people are doing right now. . .

How Many At Once?
As you can see in my pic, 2 on one bait is the most for me. They may be dinks, but it was fun nonetheless.

When Mother Nature Calls.
I keep crap paper in the boat. . . she doesn't go with me ever, but if the kid has to go I take her to the bank and let her do her business. For me, I lost a glove during deer season dropping a load in the woods and fishing would be no different.

Les Miles
I also did a search, and it appears that the rumor was started by a student reporter from Western Kentucky . . sounds a little fishy if you ask me.

Joe Flaccos Getting Paid
Your right, it does make sense for the Ravens to give Flacco his payday, but I have a hard time understanding making him the highest payed player. Flacco played his part well, and is getting payed for it. I guess my problem is the fact that I don't view him as the leader or best player of that team. While he is an excellent QB, is he really deserving of such a high salary? The people who sign his checks seems to think so, and that's all that matters. I hope the decision doesn't come back to haunt the Ravens though.

Favorite War Movies
We Were Soldiers Heartbreak Ridge Blackhawk Down Act of Valor Tears of the Sun The Patriot Kelly's Heroes Hamburger Hill I used to watch a bunch of old war movies with my dad. I have forgotten the many of the names, but they were all great movies. Occasionally get to watch some of them on the Military Channel's officer and a movie.
