  1. Green pumpkin, chartreuse, purple, and watermelon red.
  2. I like a 1/2 oz. single colorado spinnerbait when the water is dirty or when I'm fishing in deep water.
  3. I pitch when I'm on one side of a mat, and I want to fish the other side of the mat. I flip when I want to fish holes in the surface of the mat. I punch when I want to go straight through the mat and have my bait go all the way to the bottom.
  4. That's my usual spring time pattern. I just keep the rain suit and coat in the car because I got tired of taking them in the house, then bringing them back out.
  5. I start out with a 1/8 weight, and go from there. The lighter weight makes it easier to get through rip rap.
  6. Green pumpkin and black / blue catch 99% of my jig bass. The last 1% is caught on a black jig when the water is muddy.
  7. On clear, hot days I'll be in the vegetation. The deeper the growth the better. Jigs, plastic worms, senkos, creature baits, or shad colored crankbaits.
  8. It just stopped snowing here. We got about an inch to inch and a half. Luckily we were in the high 60's yesterday, so with the car traffic, the snow is not sticking to the roads. High tomorrow will be in low to mid 50's. Go figure.
  9. Last year I was fishing some brush around an island and saw quite the disturbance ahead of me. I cast into it thinking it was a nice size bass chasing minnows or something. On the second or third cast I see this large fish swimming right toward the boat. It wasn't swimming fast, just taking its time. It swam right under the boat and that's when I saw it was a huge catfish. The cat had a crappie in its mouth and swam right into the coontail with it.
  10. I like to use weightless plastic worms, senkos, and flukes. Maybe a split shot rig if you can find some thinner vegetation. I also like to use a 1/8 oz. jig. When that gets hung up in the vegetation, I can usually clear it by taking up the slack in the line and giving a quick jerk.
  11. Congratulations!!
  12. I don’t know whether to say sorry or congratulations.
  13. When you say pressure I think of a couple of ponds around me. Anglers are on the water fishing daily coving the same locations over and over. Some of these anglers know what they are doing and same don’t. The first thing I would do is down size baits. The second thing I would do is watch the other anglers to see what baits they are using. Then use a bait that others are not using. The different bait may be a smaller version, or slightly different color, or a completely different style of bait.
  14. I haven’t used one for years. Tells you how much I like the c-rig.
  15. I usually have one or two of those days a year. Anything I touch will break.
  16. Zoom super chunks, ultravibe speed craws, or any used plastic that I have in the bag.
  17. I either T-rig them, or rig them on a split shot rig.
  18. Check out local auctions in your area.
  19. Looks like cut bait for catfish to me.
  20. Congratulations! Nice going!
  21. Since Thanksgiving I've purchased 2 new spinning rods to replace rods that were at least 20 years old, and I've purchased 3 baitcast reels to replace reels that were all over 10 years old. I need to buy a couple more casting rods, and then l'll have my old stuff swapped out. I wanted to replace while things were still working so I could take my time, and not have to run out in a hurry when something broke.
  22. The 1st generation Abu Revo-S was the only reel that I only had to clean. Never had to replace anything on it for 12 seasons. My Shimano had to have a couple of washers replaced over the years, but no major repairs. My Daiwa reels are still fairly new so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
