How many fans of Bass on a fly rod?
Using a fly rod from the bank, around over hanging tree limbs is quite a chore.

?? For you Big Fish Hunters
Sometimes I like to be catching bass one after another all day, and sometimes I like to pick apart an area and look for a large bass. It just depends on how many and what size I've been catching up to that trip.

Winter Topic: Have You Fished In A Lake That Contains A Monster/Creature?
Yes, but the ufo came and removed it.

Targeting Giant Bass
Good point on keeping a low profile. A lot of times it isn't the boat that spooks the fish, it's me moving around on the boat that runs them off.

Guess the Weight
Somewhere around 4-1/2 lb.

Terminology
Back in the day when you talked about an open faced reel, you were talking about a Mitchell 300 reel.

What is the best temperature for fishing (bass)
The air temp is not as important to me as the difference between the day's low and high temp. If there is going to be a 35 degree difference I know it's going to be a tough day. If there is 10 degree difference then I'm going fishing.

Go-to saying before setting the hook
I don't I say anything on the hookset. If the fish is a nice one I will say "don't jump", or "stay down" while bringing it in.

Winter boredom kicking in now
I thought up another way to organize my tackle. This will be the second bag reorganization.

The Found Lures Thread
I don't think I found as many baits as in past years, but I think I'm good with the terminal tackle. I'm not going to need another weight, bobber, or snap quite a while.

The most weedless jig you throw .
Are you fishing from the bank? How deep down does that brush go? If I were in a boat I would pull right up in there and drop the bait straight down through it.

The Annual What You Got For Christmas Thread
Two Daiwa CT100H reels. Gift cards from TW and BPS.

Where/how do you keep your "used" soft plastic baits?
I keep them in their original bags. I end up using a lot of them as trailers.

My Most Productive Baits ~ 2020 Edition
This past spring was the worst I can remember. My total fish caught for March, April, and May total a whopping 27. Then in June it was like a switch was flipped and the bass turned back on, but only if you were fishing the right bait. 1. Zara Spook. Bass this year wouldn't hardly touch topwater, and this one was the last that I tried. 2 and 3. It was a tie. Jigs down deep along bluffs, and finesse worms in the vegetation. 4. Crankbaits around drop offs. 5. Senko type baits. 3", 4", and 6" around cover. The thicker the cover, the bigger the bait.

New Main Line You Want To Try Next ?
I've used 10 lb on my spinning reels before. It's OK as long as you spray it with line conditioner. Warmer air temps limber it up too.

Let’s talk. What’s your Christmas dinner?
My wife is cooking a ham with all of the fixings. After that it's apple pie. I'll go light on the ham and fixings to make room for an extra piece of pie.

BPS buys SW.
Have you pulled up the Cabela's website, and the BPS website? Not only is it the same merchandise, but it looks like the same webpage.

First fish you've ever caught
My first fish was back in the early 70's. Probably a sunfish on a sectional cane pole with a bobber. Piece of nightcrawler for bait.

New Main Line You Want To Try Next ?
I've tried a lot of different line over the years and I keep coming back to Big Game.

Hindsight - Would you have done anything differently this season?
When my Dad passed I kept all of his hard baits, and a couple different rods, and reels. I sold or auctioned off the rest. I have broken off and lost a couple of his lures, and it bums me out when it happens. Then I hear his voice in my head telling me to go out an buy another one.

Swim jig bad with grass...?
I fish 1/8 oz size jigs, but not necessarily swim jigs, in areas that have a lot of vegetation. The smaller size of the jig lets me rip it free easier than if I was fishing with a 3/8 oz jig.
