  1. Nice going! Congratulations!
  2. I started out with a bobber and either night crawlers or red wigglers. Later on I started fishing with crankbaits. Probably Heddon or Cordell baits.
  3. No way. They get beat up enough through regular use.
  4. No superstitions at all.
  5. I would say no due to the fishing pressure around here. By the end of the fishing season that honey hole would be a mud hole.
  6. Looks like my backyard after a heavy rain.
  7. All of my casting rods are one piece, and all of my spinning rods are two piece. Besides the 7'0" ML rod, I don't think I have ever had them apart.
  8. Welcome to the forums.
  9. My wife doesn't care for fishing. Since we've been together she has fished maybe 5 or 6 times with me. The last time was around 1999 or so.
  10. The count so far is four crankbaits, two spinnerbaits, and a buzzbait that I had to use the telescopic lure retriever to get down.
  11. I'm trying to figure out how it managed four baits. If I had caught the smallie and it had another bait in it's mouth I would have removed it.
  12. A shallow running crankbait or wakebait could be an option depending on how deep the tree branches are.
  13. It's nice to catch a 5+ pound bass every once in a while, but fishing once or twice a week I'm good with catching 1 to 2 pounders all day.
  14. I think over my 45 or so years of fishing I have only caught one or two fish on beetle spins. For some reason they just don't work for me.
  15. On bright, hot, sunny days I stay away from the rip rap later in the day. I'll fish around it at night, and early morning, but after about 9, or 10 am, I've moved on to the shallows where the vegetation is growing. Late morning and in the afternoon I'm noticing around here that the warmer the weather is, the deeper into the slop the bass are.
  16. The variables I can change depend on the variables that I can't change.
  17. I usually buy 2 or 3 at a time depending on how many I have stored up. Another factor is the brand of jig, and if it on sale or not.
  18. When I was a kid back in the '70's, we fished for catfish and panfish to fill up the freezer. Bass fishing was something you did when the catfishing was slow. As we got older we started fishing more for fun than food. By the late '80's we were fishing for bass almost every trip.
  19. Earlier this summer it was all about watermelon red. About a month ago is when green pumpkin plastics started working. I think it has something to do with the color of the crawfish in the water I fish. They turn a brownish green later in the year.
  20. That presentation has been around for years. Because this is a family forum I can’t say it’s correct name.
  21. I use a ml rod for ul applications. Sometimes I’m pulling through thick vegetation, and sometimes I like to have a little extra muscle just in case I get hold of something bigger than a panfish.
  22. Ever since the weather got hot the bass have been going after t-rigged craws or plastic worms either weightless or on a split shot rig.
  23. I’ll watch it, but I’ve really only been a fan of TOS, and TNG.
