  1. I have four spinning rods. I use them for light crankbaits, light or weightless plastics, and for panfish.
  2. Toward the end of April I will start using a Zoom fat albert. Right now I’m using a Zoom super chunk.
  3. Right now I have 9 rods. I’ll carry 2 or 3 when walking the bank. Out of a boat I’ll have 4 or 5 rods with me. It depends on the conditions out on the water.
  4. When I finish fishing for the day the trailers come off.
  5. I think I’ve used EWG hooks for something like 15 years now. I have rb hooks but I never use them.
  6. I like red and orange in murky water. That is about the only time I use red.
  7. I don’t think that I have a favorite jig. I have a bunch of different ones that I have used over the years. The trailer I use the most is a Zoom super chunk.
  8. Try the reel on both rods and see which one feels better.
  9. Check and see who manages the pond and contact them. Around here the city manages the parks but the conservation dept manages the lakes in the parks.
  10. I only like cat, and panfish. I only keep those when I am targeting them. Most of the time I am fishing for bass so I release everything I catch.
  11. Welcome to the forums!
  12. I've been having pretty good luck with crankbaits on flats and up in the shallows. I caught the first jig bass of 2019 yesterday.
  13. If I'm on a flat and fan casting I can probably make 40 yds. If I'm fishing cover I'll try and get as close as possible before casting in a bait.
  14. November through February. The bite has shut down because of the cold weather. If you happen to get a warm day with no ice on the water you'll need to be in the right place at the right time.
  15. Wow! What a fish, congratulations!
  16. I’ve gotten ticks off of me in a boat out in the middle of a lake. Sometimes they’ll drop out of the trees on you.
  17. I’ve caught them on plastics, spinnerbaits, jigs, and squarebill crankbaits. Years ago the city had a couple of parks that were artificial lures only. Nearly everyone that fished out there used spinnerbaits.
  18. Moving baits, jigs, and soft plastics get their own rods.
  19. I’ll fish a 3”or 4” worm either weightless, t-rigged with a 1/16 oz weight, or on a split shot rig.
  20. Mann’s 1 minus - brown craw Mann’s baby 1 minus - gray ghost, fire shad, and brown craw. Cordell big o - smokey joe Cordell super spot - copper craw, chrome w/ blue back. Rat-L-Trap - chrome w/ blue back, gold w/ black back, smokey joe, orange crawdad.
  21. I have one, but I use it as a back up. Way too stiff. More like a utility pole than a broom stick.
  22. My reels currently in this years lineup include one Shimano curado, two Abu revos, one Daiwa Tatula, and three Pflueger presidents. Rods include two St. Croix premiers, three BPS rods, and two Daiwa procaster rods. This could change depending on routine maintenance and breakage.
  23. I like to throw the 4” senkos with a spinning setup, for senkos around 6” I like to use a baitcaster. For me it’s just personal preference.
