  1. This past spring lipless crankbaits were my go to bait. The bass were tearing them up. As the temps warmed up the bite on the lipless died off, and switched over to jigs and plastics.
  2. Wow! That is one hefty bass, congratulations!
  3. It's nice when you go out and catch a 4, or 5 pounder, but when you fish all day and that's the only one you catch it starts to get old.
  4. Too many ways that a tech savvy person can get past the system. I’ve always believed that a high caliber weapon was a better deterrent anyway.
  5. Many years ago I was a co-angler and my ride was about 2 hours late. It turns out that he liked the nightlife and decided to try out some of the local watering holes.
  6. I’ve never seen a flat that didn’t have a highest point or a lowest point.
  7. I'll start off with a chatterbait. A lot of the small lakes and ponds by me get hammered with spinnerbaits.
  8. There is one bait and tackle store within 10 miles of me that sells strictly fishing items. I think this place is still in business because they do rod and reel repair. There are a couple of other places near me that sell bait and tackle, but they supplement their income by selling other things like adult beverages, and ammo.
  9. Good catching to your brother!
  10. Rods: Daiwa, Berkley, BPS, and St. Croix. Reels: Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, and Pflueger.
  11. Not one of my most productive colors.
  12. This year most of my bass have been caught on jigs, Senkos, and Lipless cranks. Spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are producing, but not like in previous years.
  13. No trailer on spinnerbaits, but I almost always use one with a bladed jig.
  14. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lake-michigan-investigators-want-to-know-who-left-gator-waukegan-illinois/ I wonder if someone let it loose, or it got loose on its own.
  15. Crankbait fishing has been very slow around here this year. I usually catch between 1/2 and 1/3 of my bass each season on crankbaits, but this year I don't think I have caught 10 bass fishing with them.
  16. Zoom Super Chunk, Zoom Small Salty Chunk, or a Netbait Paca Chunk is what I usually start out with but I'll use any plastic in my bag as a trailer. My most productive colors are black, sapphire, green pumpkin, and junebug.
  17. I have had the best luck fishing them around beds of coontail. I bring the bait right between the big weed clumps on the surface.
  18. The state Conservation dept. could have stocked a few spots to see how they hold up in different bodies of water. Missouri does this every so often.
  19. Dang that stinks.
  20. Over the years I have gone back and forth between snaps and tying directly to the line. Now I only use snaps on baits with treble hooks on them, everything else gets tied directly on. As stated earlier the trick is to find quality snaps.
  21. My favorite is a Cordell Big-O, but you can't go wrong with Strike King.
  22. When I was younger I didn't have the patience to work a plastic bait, or a jig, slowly. When I seriously got back into fishing about 16 or 17 years ago everyone was talking about jigs, so I bought a few. I finally caught a bass after 6 months of playing around and I was hooked. When I'm fishing from the bank and there is a line of vegetation that I know I won't be able to pull through without bringing in weeds I stop the retrieve, and let the jig drop down along the side of the weed line to the bottom. Works good but you almost need a punch rig to get the bass out.
