  1. He's having a blast! That's the way to do it.
  2. It was on the hook so it counts.
  3. I use bigger crankbaits when the bass are actively feeding around pre-spawn, and post-spawn. I scale it back to 1/4 or 5/16 ounce in late spring, summer, and early fall. When it starts cooling off I switch back to the 1/2 and 3/4 size baits. Chrome/blue back, shad, firetiger, crawfish, and white/pearl are about the only colors I fish with. If they aren't hitting those, they won't be hitting much of anything.
  4. Last year I started out catching some bass with a spinnerbait, but as the temp warmed up I started having better luck with a bladed jig. Usually it is the other way around.
  5. Most of the time I am fishing with Rat-l-traps or Cordell Super Spots. Chrome/blue back, Smokey Joe, and Natural Craw are the three colors I start out with.
  6. I think I have caught one bass on a Beetle Spin. I stopped using them when I couldn't even get a sunfish to bite.
  7. No DNA test, but a family member traced by Dad's family back to England. My Mom traced her family back to Germany. I guess that is why they argued a lot.
  8. When I am punching I have the drag so that it is pretty tight. When I'm pulling a bass up through the vegetation I tend to pick up quite a bit of extra weight.
  9. I use mono when topwater fishing. Even with frogs.
  10. I have been trying to answer that question for 30 years.
  11. Nice going! Those 1 minus baits can be killers at certain times.

    Welcome aboard!
  13. If it were me I wouldn't break the bank on plastics right off. I would buy some flukes and craws, get confident with them, and then go back to buy more. If the bridge has pilings, I would drop a bait straight down next to the pilings.
  14. Most of the water I fish locally is clear with a lot of vegetation in it. I like to use jigs, t-rigs, traps, shallow running crankbaits, and bladed jigs.
  15. 1. My Dad. He passed away about 3 years ago. 2. I use to have a UL 5' Eagle Claw rod from way back in the early 70's. It got crushed when the tailgate got closed on it. I have never found a UL rod I liked as much as that one. 3. Buy good fishing equipment. A discount isn't a discount if it breaks out on the water.
  16. If it were me, I would go with the Mojo.
  17. The problem that I have with the floaters is that I just can't seem to cast them out as far as the sinking traps.
  18. Nice catch. You can't beat a Rat-l-trap.
  19. I take a break maybe 3 or 4 hours into fishing. I usually have some kind of breakfast bar, and a whole lot of water.
  20. Thank you all for your service
  21. Welcome to the forums!
  22. Either a 2/0 or a 3/0 EWG depending on the conditions.
