  1. I use them year round when there is no ice. I use the 1/4 ounce size in shallow water, and the 1/2 ounce size in deeper water.
  2. It happened so fast I missed it the first time I watched it. Had to watch it a second time.
  3. I keep my rods until they break or until they cannot be used any longer. My punching rod is probably around 25 or 30 years old.
  4. I have my lures sorted now. Next thing will be to put them on the shelf in an organized way so that I know where everything is.
  5. I have a couple different brands, but I find myself using Smithwick Rogues the most.
  6. Most likely a rattle trap.
  7. Nice bass, good job!
  8. About 7 or 8 years ago I caught a nice 4 to 5 pound largemouth on a 1/8 ounce jig. I get the bass up to the boat where my partner can lift it out of the water, and the hook slides from one side of the fish's mouth to the other. I yelled out "grab him, he's not hooked", but before my partner could do anything that bass was gone.
  9. We got about 3/16 yesterday. Looks like we are in the clear today with more coming tonight and in the morning. The heavier ice stayed south of us about 30 miles.
  10. So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
  11. Cabin fever is setting in early this year.
  12. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected this weekend. Oh joy.
  13. I usually fish early morning when it is warm outside. This time of year I prefer going fishing from mid day to sunset.
  14. Same here. If the bass don't hit a jitterbug or a pop-r, they usually aren't coming up to the surface.
  15. You have some nice fish right there, good going!
  16. Good going in the cold!
  17. I record date, day, location, weather conditions, temp, wind speed and direction, type of fish caught, amount of fish caught on each bait, the largest fish caught on each bait, the type of bait, rig the fish was caught on, color of the bait, and type and color of the trailer I was using. I also have a spot for notes.
  18. That's a great lunch!
  19. Welcome aboard! Check out the Mo. Conservation web page. It has a list of smallie streams in Mo.
  20. I use to use a 6'6", but last year I started using a 7'0" rod. It wasn't that big of a change for me and the extra distance when casting is nice
  21. Welcome to the forums!
  22. The most rods I will carry is two when walking the bank. One for t-rigged plastics, and one for spinnerbaits, or crankbaits. I leave the rest in the car.
