  1. ...glad you figured it out. oe
  2. Pretty quick diagnosis without any other considerations...
  3. Stren is a Pure Fishing label oe
  4. ... I do. You'll want the rod to load a little bit. oe
  5. Your neighborhood bar at closing time... oe
  6. Since I fish catch & release 100% of the time, my livewell makes an adequate clothing storage location in my small boat. oe
  7. Rocking in my boat, holding the grip tightly I'm looking to balance my outfit at about 5lbs tip heavy... oe
  8. I'd take more than just the bait into consideration... medium power/fast action if I was expecting to catch medium sized bass in mostly open water. I'd step up the rod to medium heavy/fast action (with a softer tip) if I was fishing around heavier cover or thought an out-sized bass might be possible. oe
  9. Berkley Bedell, founder of Berkley & Co. died yesterday (Friday Dec. 7th). He was 98 years old. Always a mild mannered gentleman. RIP... oe
  10. Ah, the beauty of becoming hard of hearing... all the benefits of ceramic, none of the distractions. oe
  11. I'm not caught up on whether a jerkbait rattles or not... I do prefer one that has a weight transfer system in it. I achieve a longer, more consistent distance which I believe will help me catch more bass in clear water. oe
  12. That was my guess, thanks A-Jay
  13. With spinning gear -- every jerkbait without a weight transfer system I've thrown tumbles when cast. Does the silent Vision 110 also tumble when cast with spinning gear? oe
  14. Without having a long-cast weight transfer system, does the silent 110 cast as well as the original 110? oe
  15. I'd take exception to the idea that a jerkbait always has to be presented erratically to catch bass... oe
  16. I measure mine... pull off a length of line (30' or so), mark the line at the rod tip, 5 turns of the reel handle and mark the line at the rod tip again, distance between marks divided by 5. oe
  17. ...the other part of the reason you're not catching bigger fish might be there aren't bigger fish in your pond to catch. oe
  18. "What Fish See:"; Colin J. Kageyama -- will give you much of what Keith Jones gave us of bass vision in "Knowing Bass". I'll 2nd "Big Bass Magic"; Doug Hannon... "Them Ol' Brown Fish"; Billy Westmorland... and "Charlie Brewer on Slider Fishin'" and add "Finesse Fishing with Mike Iaconelli". Two of my favorites: "Tony Bean's Smallmouth Guide" and "The Last Smallmouth"; both by Tony Bean. The first of these two is out of print. oe
  19. ... a 1st edition copy printed by Johann Gutenberg. (just poking you with a stick) oe
  20. I hope these macho dudes giving advice above are better anglers than marriage counselors. Pare your list down to what's acceptable for your family and master the tools you have to catch a bass... they're really not that hard to catch once they're found. oe
  21. While they MAY look like a small school of bait to a bass, I'll wager they SOUND and FEEL more like a crankbait than a small school of bait... oe
  22. In order of my preference: walkers, poppers, torpedoes oe
  23. Light weight hair/hare jigs oe
