I Did Not Know This About Life Jackets
A life jacket can't be kept in one of your boat's storage compartments either. It must be easily accessible.

Rod Specs For Various Techniques?
A good example would be a crankbait rig. The main concern is riping the hook from the fishes mouth. I am about to build a cranking rod and this is what I'm thinking. I'm looking at a 7'2'' MH/Moderate Blank (Glass is heavy but works great). A far as a reel goes I want a 5.1 gear ratio. I've looked at the NEW Black BPS Carbonlite from BPS as they weigh under 6oz! This may be tip heavy but should offset the rod blank I'm looking at that weighs just under 4oz. As for the line I want it to stretch on the hookset so I'm thinking about 12# mono or 1 have some 8# Zo-Yuri Hybrid.

Lew's Tournament Pro Question
I run 2 breaks on and the mag turned off and no spool tension to the point of having side to side slop. I can sometimes get down to 1 break on but I can't turn them all off. I've flushed the bearings on all 3 of my reels maybe they're a bit faster and need more break? Anyone else run no centrifical break?

Out of curiosity, do you use any mag break or spool tension?

Need Advice On New Baitcaster
I'd want a reel with a 5.1 gear ratio. Some of the reels you have listed don't have that ratio. I'd look at a Lew's speed spool in 5.1 If the gear ratio is not an issue look at the Citica.

7'8" + Length Deep Crank Rod?
Your going about things all wrong! It has nothing to do with the rod you use you need to fix your bait!!! I made this just for you. It will cast farther and dive deeper! I just tie it to my best Snoopy pole and it's a new PB every cast! BTW, I do like Snoopy poles for Crankbaits AS they are a glass rod with a moderate flex...

New Member; Buyin' First Jon Boat.
I have a Chevy Silverado 2500 hd ext cab long bed and it has no problems hauling a 12' boat. With the gate down the bed is 10' long. You'd be able to haul a 14' boat no problem as long as it was a narrow boat. As far as the load I'm not sure, It may help us decide if you'd post some pics of your 104# fiancee... Just kidding

Baitcaster For Under $100
Lew's speed spool is a good one to look at if you need it new . or look for a used Curado Btw I have a couple Excellent condition reels for sale in the $110-130 range in the flea market or I'd bet you could find a Curado there.

Boca Bearing?
Boca makes 2 different ABEC-7 bearings one with an Orange seal and one with a stainless seal. Which one works best and why?

Best Flourocarbon For Baitcast With A Finesse Application
I actually like 12# vanish and haven't had any issues with it breaking. I must have the only good spool. I have 12# shooter on another reel but it costs more than Tatsu so that's out . Try Berkley 100% flouro.

Spooling Braided Line
The spool ports are sharp on the inside of the spool. If you get spooled it will easily cut your line and leave you with an empty reel... If you aren't worried about getting spooled tie away.
