  1. I wanted to try ned rigging without dropping a ton of cash on something I wasn't familiar with. I bought a St Croix mojo 7' med/lgt spinning rod paired it with a used Shimano Stradic 2500. Filled the reel with 8lb braid and a 6ft floro 6lb leader. Complete set up ran me about $225 I love it, caught many gd smallies with it up to 4lbs. Light drag and a lifting motion along with turning the reel handle on the hook set. I would highly recommend you take a look at that rod.
  2. Every parents nightmare. Condolence to the family that lost their child.
  3. Texas tackle also make a smaller set of split ring pliers for tight spaces, I believe they are called "executive" very good for smaller rings, and they have a device that opens the pliers.
  4. So, you see signs telling you it's private, you launch anyway and then get mad because he came out and told you what was already apparent, then you say your still going to sneak in anyway? WHAT PART OF PRIVATE DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND. Why make some one angry and give others a bad name? Maybe if you knocked on his door and politely asked him if you could PLEASE fish there you'd have stood a better chance. Not trying to be a jerk, but if you did that on my property I'd have you arrested, and don't be surprised if he does, he's already told you you can't fish there.
  5. The other thing with Humminbird is if you need a transducer for your trolling motor, Humminbird will swap out the transome transducer, just send them the transome ducer and $60 and they will send you the one for the trolling motor with all the hardware included.
  6. DD jerkbaits in early spring is what I use mine for, after that top waters and some swimbaits.
  7. Nice thoughts & words about your sister in law, sorry for your loss.
  8. My dad and mom were both gd swimmers and made it a point that we all knew how to swim. He always said to keep your head in the water and don't panic and you can pretty much survive any situation. When I was younger and went to a lake I would always swim to the other side, wouldn't attempt that today.
  9. Worth Company sells all kinds of blades and other lure making supplies as well.
  10. Wise choice, NO tournament or fish is worth loosing your life and or boat. If you have to ask is it safe, than you've answered your own question.
  11. My Q boat is an older 16' Spectrum Avenger with a console(I'm old and like the comfort lol) has a merc 25 4stroke, MK maxium 55 on the bow and with 2 guys over 200lbs, and a ton of gear I get 21-23/mph all day. You'll fly with the tiller.
  12. I remember that day well Tom. I did the same with a fluke a few yrs ago while fishing down the Cape. Lessons we learn. Another recommendation if your going to punch the ticket on a Q boat, is to get a motor that has tilt and trim. Well worth the little extra you pay. Check out craigslist, there was a 17 Lund for sale in NH at a very gd price. Gd luck with your purchase,
  13. Looks like TW just plan don't give a da&n what it's customers think. They've had that sale for a long time and people come to expect it and they don't even have the courtesy to say they are or are not having it.
  14. Tons of great used reels for sale. The older Shimanos with the metal frames are tough as nails, bullet proof. Curado D is a great reel IMHO much better than the new ones. Even the Citica Ds and Es are great reels. Yes they're a little heavy but they take a lickin and keep on tickin.
  15. Tournament heaven=Lake Cobbasee. Fish are pressured beyond belief. With that being said, still plenty of gd Lm in there this time of year I would try night fishing. Was up there about a month ago and even then LM were difficult but a couple of guys fishing at night were on to gd fish
  16. If there's fish in those lakes they're eating, think vibration, and sound. Buzz baits. poppers, frogs, fast action baits with lots of wobble to them. High visible plugs in yellows, pink. Think outside the bubble. you can do this.
  17. Bass have no problem eating those blue gill, perhaps you should throw something in a blue gill pattern.
  18. You looking for a Q boat???
  19. Can fish very tough in the summer. i have had some success with the drop shot in the southern end. Very early with top water in the stumps in the northern end, and if the wind is blowing hard with spinner baits over those stumps. some nice large mouth very early along the western shore where there is a totem pole by a white house with a roof top deck along the road about a half mile down from the ramp.
  20. I see your trolling. Catch any?
  21. Your going fishing with a car?? I recommend you switch to a boat, those cars don't float so gd. lol
  22. Very nice smallies(love the colors) and nice eye as well. So. west Va and WV are beautiful, enjoy.
