  1. well witch one would you use ??? id like to get the glx ,,, i believe i saw a 7ft5 heavy fast /// it looked nice /// however i know nothing about gloomis ... i did buy a loomis frog rod ,,, that didnt work out ... but that frog rod wasnt a glx
  2. ohh i get it ,, like the ulgly stick commerical where the wife stuffs the rod in the dish washer ... ;D
  3. i fish daiwa reels for the most part ... but i got a tour in a trade ... i really like the reel ... its big but its smoth and great for casting and pitching ... i plan on putting my tour on a flipping stick ,... outstanding drag ... well worth the price now that they are on clearance
  4. go digi ... ^^^ i agree ^^^ have a berkley love it
  5. thats one of the drawbacks to yammy senko .... they are good for one fish .... now that also is a pluse because THEY CATCH FISH .... LOL ... so i geuss its a horse a peice ;D
  6. Good to hear. Although I'm not sure I like the look of the new Citica. The Curado will be my next BC reel. I need a burner and this is lookin good. does this mean the new cu will be far better than the older us counter part ???? im not sure what to make of the whole made in japan ... i mean i know most guys feel japan reels are better .... i wonder how the japan cu will stack up aganst the ol us verson ??? i will say from the pics i like what i see ... however untill i see this reel in person and can be sure its not huge tank like the ol ones ,,, i wont even cosider ...
  7. ya i dont even like shimano ,,, however after seeing that new cu ... i may have to take a closer look ,, the price aint bad eighter ....
  8. check it out ... theres new info on tackle tour
  9. dont seal the hole where the hooks come outta the frog ... the frog was designed to have that hole ... if your frog is takeing on water more than likely the nose came lose or unsealed from the hook shank near the line tie ... simpley slide the nose of the frog down the hook ,, put a dab of silicone all around the hook where the nose of the frog should rest ,,,, then slide the nose back over the dab of slicone ... this sould seal that nose back to the hook eye .... and your problems should stop as long as you dont have any other holes beside the hole in the botton of the frog ...
  10. i have 2 tubes ,, lost bolth lids ... i still just keep em in the tackle bag ... when i need a dab ,, i squezz it out ...
  11. words cant describe the sweetness ... my son likes it too ... this is my son ... ;D
  12. the main difference in the avids to the LTBs ,,,, is the blanks ... the avid is sc3 with ipc and the ltb sc4 with ipc and art /// other than that i prefer the eyes on the LTB rods //// i also prefer the split cork on the LTB //// .... dont get me wrong the avid is a great stick .... but imo the ltb is just that step up from the avids ... i can tell differences in the feel ... the ltb does have more feel to it ..maybe its because your fingers are always on that blank ,,, not sure ... you wouldent think that there would be that much difference from the sc3 to sc4 .... but i will tell ya the ltb has great feel to it ....
  13. your not talking about these babys are ya ??? if so yea i fish them all the time ... great rods ... i really like the blanks ... now i too was a little worried about the split cork being a little small at first /// however after fishing these rods i will say the split cork is perfect ... and i have big hands ... but as was said before ,,, i palm the reel so there is plently of cork ... now i dont even notice ....
  14. if your frog is taking on water glue the nose of the frog back on the hook eye .... unless you have other holes on the frog ,,, aside from the hole on the bottom where the hooks come out ,,,, its the nose .... i see a few guys sinching the knot down by useing the frog to tug the knot down ... bigg no no ... when you do this you pull the nose of the frog down the hook shaft breaking the water tight seal ...
  15. i saw a nuther guy say the same thing ,,, but he baught one ...
  16. i like mine so much ,,, im getting one more .... ill be getting the new one with the split cork ... last season i hooked a bass on a spro ... as i set the hook i slipped off a rock ... this allowed the bass to wrap around a big peice of drift wood and a ton of slop ... i put the preasure on him ,,, praying the rod wouldent break .... i braught the wood , bass , and slop all in .... the bass was 5lbs the wood must have been 10 at least ( it was way bigger than the bass and soaked in water as it was under water ) then there was slop all over the wood and bass ... the ltb rod handled it no prob .... this is the sweetest frog rod ive ever seen or used ....
  17. it was designed with one hole in the bottom .... so the air is trapped in the frog ... it shouldent take water on at all ... the spro has a really nice barreling and rolling action on the water .... imo some water in the frog will hinder this action .... altho i have fished them with a little water and still got bit
  18. you dont have to have a 7ft6 rod for it to be a frog rod .... most people say to use a big o flipping stick to fish a frog ,,, yea ya can but a flipping stick is made to flip .... i true frog rod has a tip designed to toss a lite hollow frog .... it has a crisp fast action to for those quick hook sets .... it had a ton of power to pull those bass from the slop ... IMO the best frog rod on the market is the st croix LTB slop n frog ... this rod is a 7ft heavy fast rod .... this rod is very crisp on the hookset and offers a ton of power ... while being lite weight ....
  19. well the main thing you will wanna look at is the line caps ,,, speeds ... now the zillion is a great caster ,, however the 50mg will cast liter lures easyier .... i use my zillions for t-rigs ,, jigs ,,, any thing with weight ... now the zillion will cast a weightless senko with ease ..... so the line cap issue really depends on what line you wanna run .... the zillion has a nice line cap ,,, where the mg holds 85yds of 12lb i believe ... also you may wanna think about witch reel will ballance your rod better .... theres alot to think about ... for worms id go zillion but thats what i fish
  20. yea anit that the truth ROBERT ^^^ JK buddy ;D
  21. i love the spro frogs ... they flat catch fish ... as far as colors go the olny color i look at is the belly color .... the way i see it the belly color is the olny color the bass see ... i always use a frog with a yellow belly or greenish belly ... they seem to get more bites ,,, well for me ... also the spros never seem to take on water untill you catch a few bass .... i was told by a buddy the smaller size spo will take in water right outta the pack .... i never fish the small one olny the normal spro frog //// if this happens try glueing the nose back on the hook ... this works great as long as there are no holes in the the frog ( other than where the hooks come out the bottom) ... i use not glue but a fast drying slyicone made for fish tanks ... it works really well for me ... you can get a tube of the slyicon at wally world for a few bucks .... it will pay for its self ... i dont do repairs on the lake i wait till i get home ,,and give that frog ample time to dry .... i always keep 8 frogs in my box or so ,, just in case ... also id recomened not cutting the legs ,,, reason i dont cut leggs is i want that frog to have a big profile in the water .... it will walk fine with the legs on there ... i like the action better with the legs to tell ya the truth ... also before you toss a spo slime it up with some mega strike ... this will help with hook sets and save the frog some damage .. instead of the bass pulling the nose down the hook the frog will slide through the basses mouth better on a hook set ... hope this made sense ... also do not be scared to toss a spro in high sun ,,, like at noon or the middle of the day ... the sun and heat will cause the bigguns to seek cover ,,, slop , grass , pads and so on ... i find it easer to catch big bass in the middle of the day ... in fact most of my bigger frog bass have came around noon ...
  22. that zillion is sick ... ohh crap now how can i get my hands on one of those
  23. im with Wayne ... he has a great point .... but there is yet another reason not to weight the Spro frog .... the Spro has a great barrelling action ... when you add weight you really hinder the action of this frog ... im speaking of the spro frog olny here ... IMO the action of the spro is different than any other frog out there ... ive tryed a few different frogs and not one had the built in action of the spro ... you can shorten the legs if you feel it nessary ... however i dont ever cut the legs ... again i feel it may hinder the action ... also the longer legs make the frog look bigger ... we all know big bass like bigger baits ... back to my first point the action of the spro is killer ... when you work this frog along it really looks nice the way it walkes along the surface .. now im not saying that you cant weight a frog ... i keep 1 frog in my box with 4or5 bbs in it for noise and weight ... but i have yet to feel the need to tie it on ... when i have messed with the bb frog the action of the frog was duller unless i worked that frog SLOW ... now there may be a day on the lake when i see the need for a slow less active frog ,, thats the reason its in my box .... but the last 3 seasons the regular spro was fine .... i will slime my frog up with mega strike ,,, not for the sent but to get better hook sets ... im not sure if its helping but i dont seem to have trouble with my hook sets ...
  24. ^^^^ .. that being said i really never use spinning gear anymore ... in fact i dont even own a spinning outfit ;D
