theres a company named black dog lures co .... they make a lure called the lunker punker ..... this lure is there verson of the swimbait spook .... there is also a muskee lure co making a monster spook bait ....i know a few guys have been ordering for largees .... i believe i catch the majority of my big fish on top water ..... mainly the spro frog ,,, now i see this spring spro will have a monster spro frog ..... so the big bait trend seems to makeing its way to other top water lures ..... ;D
  2. ohh my badd ,,,, ok 100 bucks .... shimano cardiff 300 ,,, 100 bucks ..... not a bad reel at all .... i say the 300 due to the smaller swimbaits you wont need all that line ....just my opnion
  3. CALCUTTA 400 TE ,,, accept no subsatute 8-)
  4. hey Chris ,,,, i would tell ya to look for arkee jigs .... they are around 2 bucks a pop ..... i just use the basic arkee jig .... the jig is just a basic jig ,,, it does have a decent skirt and hook ...... this jig will catch em ,, thats what i like about the arkee ..... my favorite color is the blk-blu ..... also look at bargin bins in any local shopps ..... i baught a ton of manns stone jigs a buck a pop .... i baught 20 terminator pro jigs for 1.50 a pop .... now i have a ton of nice fishing jigs witch works for me because i loose a ton of jigs .....
  5. me too ,,, the senko was a bait i could rely on .... i would fish them every where ,,, and seem to catch bass every where too. then i just seemed to move to different bait choices .... now it seems i focus on my JIG < FROG < SPOOK <SWIMBAIT < and spinnerbaits ... ??????? i dont know why ,, i still feel i could load the boat with that ol senko ... maybee this year ill fish a senko a little more ..... i will say i tend to pick a jig before a senko ,,, i feel i can cover water quicker with the jig ....
  6. well the game is on tonight ..... after some serious thought ,,, im still takin green bay ..... altho it will be close ,,, i believe the winner will win by one score .... this is the reason i pick green bay ,,, we have been outstanding at getting that one score to winn .... the packers have delt with overtime well ,,, i believe the packers are built to beat the cowboys .... i know the whole thing about brett not winning in dallas ..... remember brett has had alotta first winns this season .... he is playing so good i dont see dallas winning ,, but theres always that but ,,, this game is really too close to call ....
  7. i live in green bay so ill get it on local tv... however we have direct tv ,, the nfl channle is standard in our basic plan ..... man i wish this was a monday night game ....
  8. who you takin ???? ill be taking green bay ... i want to hear your thoughts on thursdays game ..... ;D
  9. ive been using a calcutta 51 ,,,, not a bad crankin reel .... i know you want a lowpro but the calcutta is killer to toss the deep divers ..... a cardiff would be fine as well ,,,, it has a nice slow retrieve and with the 100 dollar price tag its worth looking into .....
  10. i would get a swimbait rod .... you will need that back bone just to set the hooks ..... not to mention you may hook a giant ,,, so the best advice i can give you is to be ready ..... i know you would hate to have a 8lb largee spit your bait back to ya because you couldent set the hook ,,, this happened to me :-[ ... now i have a swimbait rod and i wont toss any big baits with out it ..... you can get a okuma big bait fairly cheap ,, 100 bucks ;D
  11. wow ,, you guys are getting a killer deal on those avids ..... i wish i wasnt so broke :'( ... the avid is a sweet stick enjoy the rods .... ;D
  12. 7.1:1 is the speed of the zillion i use ... it is the one with the red spool ....i like a fast reel to get the bass up and outta that slop before they burry up .... also i believe if you really fish frogs a frog rod is a must ..... if you toss a frog a few times a year then you could use any heavy stick i geuss ..... i can tell you we have so many lakes here in wisconsin that are over come with weeds the olny way to fish is with a frog or punching matted vegges with a flipping stick ..... however to use a flipping stick to fish frogs is silly .... with a flipping stick you will miss fish .... that was my gripe with the loomis frog rod it was 7ft3 heavy and was like swinging a log when tryin to set the hook ... the croix is 7ft heavy however its a easyer rod to move when you have to send that hook home .... since i switched to the croix my hook up ratio whent through the roof ... my brother in law is a loomis man and after seeing me bust those bass with a spro ,, he to wants a croix ltb frog rod ..... this may be the best stick in the ltb line up .....
  13. i been froggin for the past couple years i too love the frog game ..... i started with the g-loomis frog rod ,,, it wasnt a bad stick .... well untill i picked up a lagened tourney bass ( frogg rod ) .... the ltb frog rod is crisp and lite .... so much faster than the loomis ,,, the loomis is like tryin to swing a log when setting hooks ..... the croix is so fast and easy to set the hook with ..... if you check out reeds sports on line they have the legened tourney bass frog rod on sale .... look in the rods section you can see the stick there ..... i also use a daiwa zillion spooled with 50lb power pro ..... altho i may try suffics braid this season ,,, jurys still out ....
  14. GREEN BAY PACKERS ;D olny one baby
  15. ROBERT .... did you get your MAC ON ..... that Paris is a hottie ... i hear shes a freekey lil thang /// lol sweet ....
  16. i reel left ... i geuss at first i felt i had more comtrol over my rod with it in my right hand ( im right handed ) .... then if you watch most rightys with a baitcaster they cast then switch hands to reel ...... im too lazy to do that ,,, plus i believe i can fish alot faster than switching hands all the time ... ;D
  17. a glx is a glx ,,, and a steez is a steez .... :
  18. for me i had a ton of trouble with jigs .... i just never gave up on the bait .... ok my trouble came with tryin to detect strikes .... the best bit of advice i can give is to keep that rod tip up ,,,, move the bait with the rod .... keep the line tight from rod tip to jig ,,,, then drag or hop the jig .... i never fish a jig on a slack line .... so if im hopping a jig ill lift the jig with the rod tip and drop it back down with the tip .... i olny use the reel to pick line up /// unless swimming a jig .... i try useing that jig as a feeler ,,, or to feel the bottom ... i can tell if its rock, wood, grass, pete gravle and so on .... the main advice is to fish the jig ..... then be sure to use a low stretch line ,,, you will get better feel and hook sets .... i myself use braid 30-50 lb depending ..... no leader i tie direct polmar .....
  19. i hear people have this problem ,,, with many different baits .... makes me think maybe some are letting the baits get too much sun or heat .... i have a ton of garry yammys baits and never had trouble ..... when fishing i always keep soft plastics sealed and outta direct sun and heat .... as much as possible .... im not saying you did it ,,, just tryin to figure out whats happining .... i would send them back tho .... gycb is a solid co. and im sure they will fix it up .....
  20. well you never said what you wanted to spend ??? so its hard to get an ideal of what you want .... id say the avid 7ft med-hev fast or the 7ft heavy fast depending on frog duties ..... the med-hev should be ok for frogging it is a stout rod ... the med hev i use for jigs i love it when jig fishing ... the heavy will more than likly be better for fishing froggs ,, however it may not be as good for jigs ..... id get the med-hev but thats me ... now i have a custom jig stick that is made on a premier blank this rod is rated as med-hev but seems more like a heavy to me ... so maybe a premier 7ft med hev may be a better choice for a double duty jig/frog rod .... you can find st croix rods on sale at reedssports on the net .... i will tell you the avid is a liter rod and also comes with a lifetime warrenty .... hope this helps
  21. ohh Pain ,,,, no pun intended but we could take shady brady abd billa cheat ,,, lol .... they dont wanna see green bay in the bowl ....
  22. i just hate how almost every big football show doesnt give us ( packers ) any props .... before the game everyone was talking about how ALL DAY was going to eat us alive .... he was held to 40 some yards ,,,, grant ran for over 100 .... then when we win they say ohh Brett carryed them ,,,, yea i love Brett as most do but he isnt doing it all this year ..... the packers are doing well because of a TEAM EFFORT ,,, somthing we havent done in the past few years .... i really believe our defence is under rated .... that packer defence hasent even fired on all cilenders yet ..... if the history repetes it self ,,, we should end out the season on top .... we are known to heat up as the year goes on .... ;D just my thoughts ....
  23. i cant really say ,,, at this point .... i i really like all my rods .... ohh there all bass rods ....
