st croix avid over premier??
the main difference is the warrenty .... avid has a life time warrenty .... the premiere has a 5 year .... the avid does have a better graphite and is liter ,,, to me the avid is a better stick .... now that being said the premiere isnt a bad stick for the price ,,, i just baught a couple last year ....

Favorite frogs?
for a hollow body frog i like the spro bronzeye ( bolth the red size and the JR ) ..... for the soft frogs i use a few ..... i like the zoom horney toad ,,, the ribbit ,, and the gambler can toads .... i like the sizmic toads when you need a softer presentation ,,, but mainly use the sizmic as a jig trailer and swim the jig throgh the pads below the surface ( 1 ft or 2 down ) ....

Heddon Spook
i use the sway back spooks ,,,, they seem easyer to work .... they look just like the regular spook but have a bend in the body ... i also like to put a o-ring on the nose and tie the line to the o-ring ,,, seems to let that spook get back and forth quicker and easyier ......

Top Water Senko
i love to us a 6ft6 med spinning rod .... i like to fish the senko texas with no weight .... just cast her out let her sink and start with the rod tip down at the water and start with some snapps .... work it like a jerk bait but slower .... snap and let her sink and lay a few seconds and the snap again ..... thas senko will come alive ,,, snakeing through the water then falling back to the bottom ....

CROIX ,,, yea he uses CROIX .... he is just classy ... so why try to bagg on a classy guy .... avid you have croix rods .... right ??? no one here in NE WI has kistlers rods .... so i wont say nodda about kistlers rods .... i will say i believe they dont use the best componits ,,, i mean batson blanks and that co. makes gander guid series rods and every other main stream blank .... i mean you wouldent even try to compair it to a croix or loomis blank would you ???? heres the bottom line use what works ,,, FOR YOU ;''

cajun line
i dont know that the line is JUNK ..... i can say cajun red liting is crappy .... however cajun red cast is more than likey one of the best mono lines ..... well best monos i ever used ,,,, easy casting ,,,, good strength ,,, LOW MEMORY ..... i wont say that the red line is invisable ,,, but i never have trouble catching fish with it ..... i also do alotta bank fishing so i need a line that can handle rock and wood .... cajun red cast has done a great job so far ..... imo grab a spool of red cast .... i use 8-10 on my spinning gear and 10-14 on casting ,,, thats just what i like ...
-
Frogs and Braid?
there are plastic toads and spro type frogs ... i use braid on bolth ,,, due to the cover ..... also when you have to slam that hook home braid is key .....
-
Sufix performance braid "AWESOME"
i just picked up a spool of 65lb suffix due to the constant ranting and raving of our very own dodge guy ,,, lol just kidding dodge ..... any way she casts real nice in the yard .... so far im pleased with the casting abilitys of this line .... i also like the way this braid is round rather than flat ...... so far so good ... now i have to stick a 5lber to she how she handels a hogg ;D
-
Giant Tubes? Canyon Plastics 7"
id try a Ganny G mag hook ..... i dont think a smaller hook would work ....
-
Frog Rod
i use a st croix legened tourney bass frog rod ,,, i was useing the loomis frog rod .... bolth are great rods ,, however i felt the croix would suit me better ..... i also noted the croix had less cork and was liter in over all weight ..... i would tell ya to just get a premiere hev 7 ft fast ,,,, but i do believe you may be able to find eighter the loomis or the croix on ebay or maybe even in the flea market section of this fourm .... i would do the foot work and see if i could come up with a frog rod ..... also you may want to look at tackle warehouse and see what they may have under the frog section ..... if im not mistaken i believe they have a diawa lite and tough frog rod that may be in your price range ..... i know they also have the kistler jig and toad rods there too ..... snoop around

Okay guys, what's the secret?
all i can say is BRAID ..... also you must under stand there are times when the bass will just miss the toad all together ..... ive got my frogging down ,,, i use a st croix legened tourney bass frog rod .... i love this stick , i was useing a loomis frog rod but there was just too much cork for me,, also the st croix is liter in over all weight .... i have a diawa zillion casting reel the burner one .... and i use 50lb power pro ,, however i will be tryin the suffix 65lb braid this year ..... the rod ,, reel ,, line ,., and baits all play a big role in landing bass with a frog ..... i learned this the hard way after i lost 2 bass almost on back 2 back casts .... bolth bass where heavy the line i was useing gave the bass just enough stretch to get off and the rod didnt have the mustard to yank em free from cover ..... the reel i was using was way slow ,,, in fact i use the same reel for cranks now .... well you live and learn .... just keep tweeking your tackle till you land a few and then tweek some more ... what works for me may not be the best way ,, but it works ..... and dont pull the trigger till you feel the fish ,,, ya easier said than done .... i tend to watch the line if i see that line moving i pull the trigger ..... good luck froggin is my favorite way to catch em

swimbait starters
yea ,, i wouldet worry about fishing any of the swimbaits ..... you have to stick with it ,,, and keep covering water ..... if you want to catch a bass on every cast you may wanna toss a spinner bait ..... i also have had small 12-14 inch bass in hail a matt-lures 6inch perch ..... if you wanna swimbait get your head right first be prepaired for a long day .... if the hoggs are there they will hammer that bait ... good luck and stick with it .... and stay FOCUSED the seconed you dont an 8lber will yank that stick right outtta your hands .... i fish the swimbaits here in north eastern WI we dont have big bass by any means .... here a 5lber is a HOGG ,,, our record bass is just over 10lbs i believe and i olny heard of a few bass taken in the 6lb plus range ( a few like 2) .... however i seem to do great with the mattlures and wouldent worry about fishing the baits anywhere ..... ;D you must focus and grind it out ... the fish will come if you do
-
"walk the dog" and topwaters
ok i grabbed one outta my closet ..... its a Heddon sway back spook ..... also put a o ring where you would normally tie the line ..... then tie the line to the o-ring ..... this will help getting the action down ,,, i just learned to use these baits my self ..... well last season ,,, i love them .... ;D
-
"walk the dog" and topwaters
its the same company that makes the spook or the puppy or the super spook ..... the lure is called the sway back spook ....
-
"walk the dog" and topwaters
well the main one is just a steady snapping of the rod tip ..... not a steady retrieve .... more like fishing a huskey jerk .... i like to pause the bait in the strike zone ( or where i believe the strke zone is ) lol .... just give it a pause for a seconed or two ..... then start the snapping again .... try to find a rythm .... and dont just use one switch it up till you get bit .... you want that lure to look like its walking back and forth ,,, left and right left and right ..... just when you first try it get your self a sway back spook they are 3 bucks and real easy to walk IMO ..... the puppys are sweet too but a little harder to work IMO .... keep that rod tip down at the water when snapping and be sure to snap the rod tip on a semi slack line ,,, in other words dont just snap on a tight line ..... i use mono because it floats ,,, dont use flour it sinks ..... hope this helps ya .....

Mattlures Commercial
i dont leave home with out em ..... i like the baby bass series .... ;D
