  1. well the wait is over .. a few days ago i orderd 2 st croix legened tourney bass rods .... there here ,,, the new ones with the split cork .... wow i cant say enough the rods are killer .... these are the best st croix sticks i own and i have a few from every series even last years tourney bass series .... st croix really went all out and i cant say enough ,,, so heres the pics enjoy a little tackle porn enjoy ,,, i know i am ... i cant cant put these sticks down lol ;D
  2. sweet reels ..... wow i want a few jdm reels .... the wife would kill me lol ....
  3. hey thanks JIMzee .... yea i had trouble with the weight of the loomis also the length of the rod .... i also tryed using a flipping stick ,, just seemed to miss alotta fish it was like tryin to swing a log .... i saw the croix and after a quick look ,,, i new the croix is shorter and liter than the other rods .... the croix is crisp and fast as well as strong .... i braught in a few 5lb pluse bass that where carrin at least 7 pounds of slop ..... one i even braught in on a big peice of wood .... the rod and reel i chose are killer ... i love the lite weight feel of my frog set up .... now i did pay alot but i miss very few fish .... and the way our waters fill with weeds in the summer you really need a frog rod so i didnt mind the price ....
  4. thanks guys i may just look for some tdzs .... or even the newer zillions with the slower retrieves ...
  5. hey guys just my 2 cents here ,,, but if you want a frog rod with a crisp action and the power to horse them outta the slop .... you may wanna look at the st croix legened tourney bass ( frog rod ) ive tryed a few including the loomis frog rod ... nothing has come close,, croix really hit one outta the park with that legened tourney bass frog rod when im froggin i toss those baits in the nastest salad in the lake .... so i need to know i have the power to horse a 5lber outta that salad .... no worries what so ever ....
  6. the swayback spooks are easy as well .... i put a o ring on the front of that bait then tie the line to the o ring this helps that bait sway back and forth easyier ....
  7. i wanna know if any members here have done any work the the diawa fugo ..... ill be getting 2 in the near future .... i do have one already .... so far i like the one i have just wonder if there are any upgrades i can do .... i will be having the drag upgraded to the carbonx .... however i wonder about the crank arm and berings ????
  8. the best rod isnt on that list :-? ..... the croix avid or the croix legened tourney bass ( sweeper spinnerbait ) witch is even better .... imo
  9. ive been using a st croix legened tourney bass ( frogg rod ) .... 7ft heavy fast ,,, lite and strong .... for reel ive been using a diwa zillion ( the burner ) .... imo this set up is killer ,,, and i have had more than one frog rod and reel ..... this set up prices out at ( around ) 460.00 ,, so i believe somthing custom would cost ya more ....
  10. hey i wanna know how you like the reels you baught ..... i want to get a alpha ,, but i have no way of knowing how good these reels really are .... so be sure to let us know your thoughts on bolth reels ....
  11. ok heres my delima .... i have 2 legened elite spinning rods that i need to excange ..... i was just thinking of exchanging them for 2 legened tourney bass rods ..... i would like to try the 7ft med fast (teaser rod ) ..... and maybee the 7ft med- hev fast ( sweeper spinnerbait rod ) :-/ still thinking .... help with any thoughts or ideals .... :-/

im not sure how fast the citicas are ???? you want a burner reel ,,, you need to be able to pick up your line in a heart beat .....a slower reel will allow a bass to burry up deeper .... in an open water sitch your rod and reel should be fine ,,,, however i wouldnt try fishing the slop with that set up .... when i first started fishin frogs i started useing a horney toad ,,, this helped me understand the hook set .... the fact that the toad is moving really let me feel the fish there .... in all honsty it sounds like the trouble you are having is in the hook sets ..... all you can do is keep fishing that frog till you hook a couple to get the feel ... the best way i can explane it is to see the bite pause just a hair and PULL THE TRIGGER ,,,, keep tryin youll get it .... froggin is my favorite way to fish bass ....

before you go chunking a spro you must have the gear to get them out .... ive been tweeking my gear and this is what works for me ..... i use a st croix legened tourney bass ( frog rod ) this rod is 7ft heavy fast action ..... i use a diawa zillion 7:1 baitcast reel ,,, loaded with 50lb power pro braid .... and last i rely on a polamar knot tighted while wet ,, and tag end pulled with my needle nose to lock that knot down, after i pull that knot tight i cut my tag end ..... this is just what works for me .... then you have to work on the hook set .... when you feel the bass slam that hook home ,,,, once hes hooked bring him straight in dont try playing him he will just burry up deeper and become more of a pain .... i use a heavy rod so i can yank that bass outta the salad ... i can also say the biggest bass i ever caught came on a spro .... so if you figure the bass is 5lbs plan on bringing another 5lbs of salad in with the fish .... you need heavy gear ...
  15. ive used bolth ALSO .... id go zillion .... the burner speed of the zillion is sweet ,,, i have 2 zillions and 1 is on my frog rod ,,, i love this reel for froggin ....
  16. the spro is a main stay in my box ....
  17. i found a few of the manns 20+ in the gander bargin bin 2 bucks a pop .... i picked up 3 ,,, olny threw these baits a few times .... the few times i did throw these baits i did have follow ups ..... i was also throwing them on 10lb p-line cx and these where running deep ..... deeper than the fat free shads i was tossin that same day ......
  18. hey Ghoti if you like the hula grubs take a look at the chompers hula grub ..... chompers grubs just seem to out fish the yammy hula grub ...... and chompers stink of garlic ,,,, right out the bags ..... just a heads up if you ever see the chompers twin tailed grub ,,,, try it they are like 3 bucks a bag and i believe they are better then the yammys ..... ;D. i like the watermelon peper
  19. when its sunny i like any spro with a yellow belly ..... last time i had a good day frogging it was 80 degrees sunny and i had the green and brown spro with the yellow belly
  20. i agree with avid ..... id go with a croix .... my first choice would be the legened tourney bass rod .... the one he listed should be fine .... but id go with the teaser rod its a 7 ft med fast and if will cover alot of ground ..... tubes grubs spooks buzz baits senkos smaller t rigs and so on .... i have the legened tourney bass frogg rod ,,, 7ft heavy fast .... the more i fish it the harder it is to put down ..... now my seconed choice would be the avid .... its another great stick and price point concitered a killer stick ..... go croix ;D
  21. ive been fishing these for a while .... as for working these baits ive had my best luck just on a slower steady retrieve .... as for color i would just recomened getting the blk , wht , and i like the bull frog ..... this cane toad just sounds like a tank ... moving water to make a wake ,,, i just wouldent worry about too many colors .... the basics seem fine ive had most blow ups on blk and bull frog .... and if you like these try the ribbit too .... its not a bad frog
  22. sweet set up ..... that thig looks killer ,,, dont have too much fun .... i have one of Davids rods ,,, love it .... i have a 7ft med hev with a zillion .... i use this for jigs .... love it ;D
  23. I like the goby color by these guys .... ISG bass lures
  24. ive seen the *** senkos seem to be the same as the gander mt trick sticks ..... but cheaper through *** as long as you order 100 ct at a time
