  1. SuperLube is hard to beat if buying local. you can find it at most any home improvement store or Ace hardware types. Cost is around 6-7$ a tube and will last a long time. Penn and Daiwa Blue are great if you want something specific for reels.
  2. simms
  3. Haha..."EB enterprises" That's clever.
  4. I've listened to that for a few years. To be honest, it's got progressively "worse" but it's still good for a fishing podcast. if you have access to their archives, go back to the early ones /w KVD, Zona, Brauer, and others. It used to be a 1hr podcast and lots more insightful.
  5. kinda surprised you go that heavy. Would have guessed 4#.

  7. keep it PG.....keep it PG.....keep it PG.....I can't.....carry on.
  8. Assuming the motor has no issues and it was winterized properly, then yes, it's most likely the fogging oil. Mine too would smoke almost an embarrassingly amount after sitting for 5 months (iowa winters suck) in the driveway on the first startup. My winter "cocktail" was Seafoam/startron/stabil marine run for 45 minutes to get it in the gas lines and then fog the engine to no tomorrow. Smoked like crazy. I took it to the river to run it and it went away after 1-2 trips depending on how far I went the first time. Most years I would just idle for 5-10 minutes and take it easy on the RPMS for a couple miles and then just run it for 15-20 miles round trip. Put some fresh gas and a can of seafoam in the tank before you go out and then just go to town and run all the fogging oil/gas out of it. You should be fine. It is a 2 stroke so some smoke is going to happen. Mine hardly ever smoked after that all year with XD100 and seafoam/startron in every tank.
  9. If it was winterized properly and it hasn't been run WOT or really at all since last winter, take it out and run it. Check the plugs too as their probably going to be caked. I changed them every spring after the first run anyway for that reason. Plugs are cheap. The only time my old 175 fast strike smoked a lot was right after the first start up in the spring from the fogging oil...and it smoked ALOT..but I usually went to town /w fogging oil in the fall. I did run XD100 in the VRO, seafoam and startron, and ethenol free gas in every tank. Carbs were spotless and never had fuel issues with this routine.Hardly any smoke after the first couple trips all year. Guy that has it now does the same thing w/o issues.
  10. A buggy whip and/or a switch.
  11. Frame material, spool, handle/knobs.
  12. The R+ / 103 TDZ spools will fit. The TDZ100m is the same size as the OG zillion spool. It's larger than the others and I don't believe will fit. The 100m spool is a downgrade overall performance wise to the stock sv103 spool. Bombing lures it's close.
  13. The only thing they share is the name . Sv Will throw a wider range of baits and lower weights. The stock zillion is good for 3/8+. Put in a tdz100m spool in an ig zillion and it performs much better. Frames are different. Better comparision is the og zillion vs sv103. Id take the sv103 over all 3.
  14. You answered your own question. In your example of using a skirt on a jig vs not using a skirt and it's importance or "secondary action" of the skirt, you're changing the presentation. Things that are visual and less reactionary will be effected more so than a buzzbait. If presentation wasn't a factor than bait A would always outfish bait B all things equal.
  15. False. You can find BNIB vision 110s for sub 20$. not just the knockoffs. search harder on the bay.
  16. You will not catch fish without a fluorocarbon leader weaved from a yeti's nether-region and wetting the knot with unicorn tears.
  17. break it down and clean it. make sure bearings aren't seized. make sure everything is seated correctly. start /w the basics.
  18. Tossing 1/4oz -5/16 oz jigs, throwing 1/4-1/2oz spinnerbaits/chatterbaits (colorado blade 1/2 oz you will want a 4 power), 1/4oz weight + bait , the 3 power is perfect. Its terrible for a 3/8oz weight + bait. Thats 4 power.
  19. pull the cover a little more snug over the side plate before wrapping it around the handle side. both steez covers I have are on steez' reels so the fit is pretty spot on while on a rod. The tatula CT is a larger framed reel than the steez so if it's a but more snug, that would be normal. It will be fine. They are very good quality covers.
  20. steez sv tw tdz 103 type r+
  21. ditto. Investing in a set of quality precision screwdrivers is something I wish I did years ago. I have the wera screwdrivers and wiha hex sets. Both are worth it. Prefer the wera grip though.
  22. If longevity was a concern, the SV103 would be my first choice. It's based off the original zillion but /w an SV spool. Bullet proof reel and will perform flawlessly. SS SV103 is/was a JDM version of, I believe, the Steez SV. It's the steez frame but I'm not 100% on what it resembles stateside so I can't answer that. I've never used the SS SV103 but do have the Steez SV. It's a great reel.
  23. Both the SSSV103 and SV103 are on sale. 2 different reels.
