Approaching the Starting Line
Some of us a little south of you already started, kinda sort of. It was a bit odd fishing soft water in February here in Michigan last week. However as they say all good things must come to an end, currently snowing and 25 degrees as I write this.

If you could only limit yourself to 1 rod, 1 reel, and 3 lures ( soft plastics w/ hooks or other lure ) what would you chose
A TFO 6'9" med spinning rod paired with a Okuma rtx 30s. 5" senko, ned rig, spinnerbait.

Chatterbait freedom
You could try changing the hook to see if that makes a difference. That is one of the advantages of the freedom baits.

$50 Pro Qualifier
Just to make things clear, these are not the PQ2, these are the discontinued models. My receipt said $79.99 regular price, not the $99 as stated in the ad. A little trickery going on here. Still a nice reel for the price, just not as big a savings.

Biggest Michigan bass?
Simply based on the fact that the smallmouth record was broken in September and now stands at 9.98 lbs. A largemouth record for Michigan could be lurking just about anywhere.

Who makes the best line cutter?
Fiskars child proof scissors. On clearance at my local walmart for ONE DOLLAR. I guarantee you'll get at least one season out of them. As a bonus, they come in some of the cutest colors you've ever seen.

Morning vs evening fishing
It's definitely the morning for me, less people to contend with while fishing the bank.

People that leave trash
As a dedicated bank fisherman, I know first hand how messy my fellow anglers are. I haven't fished a lake or pond where I haven't picked up someone else's trash. I have two goals when I arrive, to catch fish and to police the area for trash. Sometimes I don't catch a fish, but I always end up with a plastic bag of trash. To answer the OP's question, I never approach an offender, seems like a waste of time to me. They know the difference between right and wrong.

Owner Twistlock vs Do-IT Mustad Hooks
According to a warehouse review, that is what they are using those hooks for. The shape of the hook is correct, however the sharpness of the point will not be in my opinion.

What is your choice of line for weightless Senkos?
15 lb yellow braid with a 12-15lb fluorocarbon leader . Daiwa lexa 7'2" ml rod.
