I use the Powell 705 CB. Another one I really like is made on a MHX 843 CB blank.

Anything in the 6: something range.

Usually, a 1/4 oz and a Hayabusa #114 hook. I would go heavier if the wind is blowing too much. I never peg a t-rig unless I'm flipping.

I have no idea what they bite in Texas but the 1.5 oz jig made we read it twice.

The drop shot rod will cover ned rigs and light shaky heads also. That 735 is a pretty stout rod so the way to go would be a MH in the length of your choosing. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jigs and worms as well as bigger topwaters in a pinch.

Sounds like he has more issues going on with his fishing than the rods. If he's going to break the guides off them and use them for tomato stakes he's going to have issues. Sound like he has too much rod for the senko..

How does a rod blank stiffen over the years ?

Those older GL3s were some good rods. Pretty darn close to IMX sensitivity. If you wanted to step up to a GLX then yes, you'll feel a difference. But compared to the average $150 dollar rod of today I don't think you'll gain anything, and you will give up Loomis quality.

No amount of changing hooks or split rings or gear ratio's is going to make up for bad technique. I mean, just watch the bait.

The Gammy G-Finesse hybrid is a great hook for the C- Rig. It's got enough gap for creature baits but not too much for a french fry or worm.

In the $ 300 range I think your best bet is the Expride 7ft2 Heavy. I throw 3/4 oz. football heads on it as well as the ol' ball and chain. it's a great rod. The trouble with the NRX for a bait that heavy is that it's close to being too much for the 854/894 and the 895 was always kind of a blah model.

I had a Lowe stinger also. With a 75hp Etec it would run about 34 mph with me tackle and a buddy in it. It was a good boat . Tracker will be the cheapest but like I said be sure the price you get quoted includes batteries a decent charger and trolling motor. ect. And whatever you buy be sure there's a dealer close by to service it.

Fish position differently and they seem more willing to chase a smaller bait in warm water. In the spring you can catch them on a 2.8 Keitech on the same points you caught them on the A Rig in the winter. It's like throwing a Buzzbait in the winter..aint gonna happen, at least around here.

Its a cold water suspended fish deal for the most part. Personally, once the water temp gets much above 50 degrees I put it down. That's not to say they may still bite it but I'm tired of throwing it.

Take a guided trip to Texas or Florida. Maybe even the Tennessee river chain. MY PB came out of the St. Johns river. You Gotta fish where fish of that size live.

All depends on how big the water is your planning on fishing. Id also be careful with some of the package boats that BPS advertises that can be under powered with a 4 inch graph. I had a aluminum boat years ago and that thing would spin like a top in the wind, I was forever on the trolling motor. That was 5 boats ago and my advice would be to look for a clean used glass boat. Boats in general are stupid expensive now and if a year later you decide you wish you had bought something bigger or more powerful your going to get skinned on the trade in , Buy once cry once.

I have a Enox BMJ. Sensitivity wise I would say it's pretty close between it and a Cara. Build wise The ALX is a better-looking rod and overall, I'd pick it over the Cara but it's also more expensive.

No, I've never fished that rod but where I fish I can't see a need for it.

3/8 isn't too light for the head turner. It's just a more versatile rod than the finesse jig. The Dragger was meant to be a Carolina rig rod. I like it for 1/2-5/8 oz football heads. Falcons in general are a little soft and moderate for their ratings. The lizard dragger however is a fairly powerful rod. If you can't do the length I get it but the Amistad and swim jig are the best jig rods Falcon makes.

The rod that's now called the finesse jig was originally the Eakins jig rod. It was made to flip Jim Eakins 5/16 oz signature jig here in the Ozarks. Falcon has tightened that rod up over the years but its still a finesse jig / topwater rod. For what your looking to do I'd go with the Headturner or if you don't mind the length the Amistad.

The 843/844 are both classic's. The 844 will throw bigger spinnerbaits and heavier plastics as well as bigger topwaters like the super spook. The Expride heavy is a faster action and I personally use it for throwing the ol' ball and chain and big worms in the summer but it's not as versatile as the Loomis MBR actions.

To me, if your going to spend that kind of money get the best and get the NRX. Dobyns have always felt kinda muddy to me.

I'm not a fan of the pre-made rigs. Just buy yourself a package of the beads. swivels and some weights of your choosing.
