  1. Looks like I need to go to Walmart tomorrow
  2. I have the same reel and have never had an issue with it. I would take it apart and clean and lube it.
  3. I use KVD Line & Lure, I spray it on as I spool the reel and try to remember to spray it on before I leave the house to go fishing. I also use it on the guides of the rod. It's also great for cleaning the screen on your graph. I use it on my glasses and sun glasses too. From what I understand KVD L&L doesn't contain any petroleum products where reel majic does.
  4. Go to Eagle's web site and check the transducer in your $10 unit might just work on your Cuda, worth a try.
  5. X2 love my St Croix rods i have 2 of them and working the CFO for a 3rd one ;-)
  6. I have several Trions from 40 down to 20 they are great reels and the only one I have found that I like better is the Plueger President a few more $ than the Trions but I think they are worth it. I think the President is smoother and cast further. The one down side is that it doesn't come with the spare spool which the Trions have. I use my 30's & 20's much more that I do my 40, I mainly use it when fishing for the bottom feeders like cats, drum, or gar to heavy to be throwing all day it will flat wear you out. But then again you are a few years younger then me so it might not bother you. If you have a Bass Pro or Caberia's near you I would suggest you go there an handle the different sizes and judge for yourself.
  7. You guys are all down in Florida and I am up here in the Midwest, is it alright if I join your little online tournament? My guess is that my total for 2 fish will be about 22" as that is about the size I have been catching here. Good luck every one
  8. I am not that good of a fisherman still learning the ropes of fishing with lures. That being said I think it would still be fun. I have heard of this being done on another forum but it was before I joined. Could probably dig up the rules they used if that would help getting it started.
  9. I agree with Fishes in trees, your brother owes you a new tackle bag and what ever other gear him and his buddies messed up. I also agree fishing gear is personal stuff and I don't normally loan it out. If I'm on the trip too that is a different matter.
  10. I like that spring idea. I have been wanting to make a mount for the front of my jon boat. I don't like the transducer mounted on the trolling motor, really messes with my DI. Nice simple design.
  11. Very nice review Goose, thanks for sharing
  12. I have several fishing logs type apps on my phone but have better luck just recording it in a little pocket notebook. I try and log Date Time Place Weather, including air temp, water temp, humidity, wind direction & speed, barometric preasure Catches - size, bait used Probably should also record the rod used too but I don't. When looking to see what new apps might be available I found this one https://www.myfishpattern.com what interesting is that you record the catch and trip on your phone then when finished you can transfer it to their website where you have an account. You can also enter the data directly on the website too. You can then do sorting and create patterns. Just started using it, I think I like the web site part of the app better then the phone park. I also recently found a widget for recording catches that looks interesting, you can take a photo and record the data it's called My Fishing Journal Widget. The problem I have found with the phone apps it that it takes to much time to record the catches were as in the notebook you can make a quick entry and be back in fishing in no time.
  13. The other thing that I do that I forgot to mention was that I run the line through a phone book to help put some tension on it. Naturally I am talking about respooling at home not at the fishing spot.
  14. Good tip, I have my spools in a Plano spool box and in the counterclockwise case I put the spools in the box so the line comes off the bottom of the spool. For me I have it coming off the top for my baitcasters.
  15. No go get his big brother :-)
  16. Sounds like it will work then,
  17. Electrical tape is sticky and the glue will leak out. I think splicing tape would be a better choice. It is also rubbery and will have more of a non slip surface. Where should the rod balance? I always thought it was right in front of the handle.
  18. Thanks for supporting my favorite bass site
  19. I only use mono right now but I always forget what weight line & brand I have on which reel. I take my label maker and make a label for each reel which has the Brand/Weight on it. I stick it to the spool on my spinning reels and the real body on the BC's.
  20. That's cool looking, don't see why it wouldn't work. Let us know after you try.
  21. I like Rebel Poprs and have had a little luck with them last fall. Never heard of that trick but it makes sense, I'll have to give it a try. I really don't have any tips to share as I just started fishing with lures last summer. Up till then I was always a live bait guy.
  22. I have the Boomerang Snip and it works great. Keep it clipped on my belt loop whenever I am out fishing
  23. Another Missouri guy, Welcome!! and Hi!!
  24. I was going to say try one of those ceramic resistors that they use to lower the voltage to a coil on the older cars (60's 70's) but I like the PWM idea better. Price didn't look bad either.
  25. One sweet looking fish there, way to go!!!
