  1. Black and brown or brown and black .
  2. Do they have the red streak like white bass ? I dont like white bass because of that red meat and its to much work and little return to remove it .
  3. I love those old school brown and orange crawfish colored crankbaits .
  4. When I'm worm fishing there is usually going to be some pitching involved into heavy cover. I cant pitch with a light weight and bait . So its give and take . I found a 1/4 ounce weight with an eight or nine inch worm performs well . If I want a faster fall a 5/16th ounce and a six inch worm works . That sounds like too much weight for such a small bait but I have caught thousands of bass on that combo .
  5. Yellow bass I have caught one time . They look like a white bass with a yellow tint and the ones I caught were smaller . I found them in a shallow backwater area off the Mississippi river .
  6. Me too . I'll try other things then to keep tweaking the rate of fall for hours .
  7. I can honestly say I never fished that .
  8. You can also change the plastics to get a faster or slower rate . I like to keep a 1/4 ounce weight minimum when pitching , so if I want to slow it down a switch from a worm to a lizard will do the trick
  9. You list Lake Maloney as your favorite place . Lake Maloney in Nebraska? Lots of docks there .
  10. I never considered it ugly but yeah I have one in baby bass and smallmouth and have caught some nice bass on them over the decades .
  11. Do you know what kind of cover you will be targeting ? Or structure ? Pond , lake , boat , bank... You want to choose your lures based on where you are going to throw it .
  12. A light rain, the first two lures I reach for are a buzzbait and spinnerbait .
  13. They dont work if fishing from shore . You have to be above the lure and snag .
  14. Not as many people visit this sub-forum as they do the general so not as will participate .
  15. Heres another nutty idea that I think would work .I'm going to try it Use a cheap crappie jig head as the weight for a Neko rig. Just clip the hook off where it exits the worm .
  16. If you throw a gold fish into a lake its going to get eaten even though no gold fish exist in that water .
  17. According to this chart the clarity of thr water makes a difference on which colors fade quickest . Heres a link to the article . Might be true might not be , I dont know .https://www.fatguppyfishing.com/single-post/2016/1/7/Selecting-Lure-Colors-for-Successful-Fishing
  18. I have a crappie Deep Wee R that works real well .Bomber Model A in Baby Bass is another favorite .I dont think bass are mistaking them for crappie or bass they are just eating them .
  19. That one should work all right . I use the Lews David Fritts model and get about 95 per cent of my baits back . Sometimes it takes some work .
  20. I knew of this trick but it should work on a Toad too . Sometimes I dont land any fish and the toad is to tore up to use .
  21. I had a hand steer elec motor that wasnt any good . I gutted it and mounted an old Eagle Fish Mark on it .The transducer is at the bottom of the shaft . I can use it on canoes , jon boats , Bass Bay... anything the bracket will clamp to . Dont know if that would be an option on a kayak ..
  22. I use to seine all my aquarium fish . I had bass , bull head , channel cat , sturgeon ,bluegill , drum , crappie all kinds of minnows , crawdads ...The bass ate all the minnows the bluegill sucked the eyeballs a out of the sturgeon , the crappie would not eat . The drum and catfish were good aquarium fish . Next I'm going to turn it into a turtle tank complete with waterfall .
  23. The first year I participated I didnt know a lot of the anglers and picked the legends of the sport . That was a poor strategy. I enjoy playing and now am familiar with the anglers . Still suck at it .
