  2. I mastered the art of drifting on top the place I'm trying to fish .
  3. I do want to get more into jerkbaits next year . I havent fished them a lot but after some late season success , I'm raring to go . I think I can get some suspended bass if I get one down to the 8 to 10 foot range .
  4. Ice storm here yesterday . Wide spread power outage . I regained power this morning but only half my poles are hot . Luckily I have a furnace and refrigerator working but no way to cook anything . The crews left for other parts of town . I had to chip the ice out of the bird feeder so the birds are happy .
  5. I reel the slack out of the line yell 'Leroy Jenkins" then cross his eyes .
  6. I have never caught a burbot . They are rare around here but are caught occasionally .
  7. I fished for everything . Caught bunches of bull heads out of ditches , Did a lot of fishing where a creek dumps into the Mississippi and caught just about every species of fish out there . Did a lot of carp fishing too . Until recently I had a camper on a shallow bay and I was "the" carp master .LOL
  8. I never liked the idea of just sticking to one lure or technique all day just to learn it. Fishing is pretty easy . If one fishes all day and not have much luck because of hardheadedness, then all one accomplished too learn is how not to catch bass . Try something for a while and if it doesnt work try something else . Thats the way I learn new techniques .
  9. Well 2021 got off to a great start .Big ice storm . I did get power back this morning .
  10. I had to google several of the baits listed . yours is one of the weirdest looking baits I ever seen .Its actually a baby possum . My wifes nickname is possum . LOL
  11. Thats how I do it . I tie a simple overhand knot on the end , that keeps the bobber stop from being flung off but still pulls free on snags
  12. I got a lead on a deep brush pile on my favorite small lake . My goal is to find it .
  13. For the second time in the past three years my largest was caught on a Strike King Red Eye Shad . 6.2 lbs on the 3/4 ounce chartreuse sexy shad , 24 foot deep , fishing it like a worm . October
  14. I dont know when the best months are around here . I have caught big ones in every month except Dec and Jan . I just catch them in different ways and places as the seasons change .
  15. In BASS its legal as long as the angler is not sight fishing .
  16. I have one but never used it . Dont know the manufacturer .
  17. A few years back I ripped the bicep off the bone "Bowling injury" and had it repaired . I was out for six months . Luckily half of the six months was winter so I only missed three months of fishing . For three months I wasnt allowed to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup . Then 5 lbs , 20 lbs... It sucks but it is what it is .
  18. Stage 1 for me was to just catch fish .Like AJ , I also rode my single speed stingray bike in the hot summer sun for miles , just to catch a sack full of bullheads . Stage 2 was club and tournament fishing , where I tried to emulate the pros and win tourneys . I had some success but it wasnt for me . Now I'm back to stage 1 . Much more theraputic .
  19. I want to catch numbers and big ones . Thats what I strive to do each day I go out in the boat for 8 plus hours . I'm a lot better at the numbers than the big ones but get them too, some years better than others .
  20. One lake I fish only allow aluminum boats supplied by the conservation dept . These craft are noisy . Its a good deep water lake at times but mostly on calm days . If its a windy day the waves slamming against the aluminum hull turns the deep structure bass off . They are accustomed to being fished for and that pounding is an alarm to them . On calm days big ones are highly more likely to be caught .
  21. That is one skinny bass .
  22. I have some Natural "Ike" crankbaits . They are so-so .
