  1. I used them a lot . A black pork frog on a brown jig or vice versa caught big fish . I think that briny salty taste encouraged the bass to not let go . I also liked the Uncle josh water dogs/spring lizard . They were bigger and caught bigger bass yet . I didnt impart any extra action with them , just used them like I would any other trailer .
  2. I cast and crank a lot with success . Retrieving spinnerbaits Jimmy Houston style has accounted for hundreds of bass this year .
  3. It will work off shore as well . I like a flash of chartreuse when fishing deep .
  4. I make my own also out of mayo , mustard and relish , that is all . I like Long John Silver tartar sauce and know the manager at ours . He gives it to me .
  5. I had a Striper size Bagley Shad . I tried and tried to catch a bass with that thing after seeing huge shad in bass throats .I threw it so much that the lip fell out and never caught a bass one . Also a Musky Jitterbug . I quit trying to catch bass on large plugs .
  6. My son buys me a bottle of Whiskey at Christmas every year . Last year it was a big bottle of Makers Mark . I finished it off last night just in time for a new bottle this year .I dont drink a lot of whiskey so a bottle last me a year .
  7. Holy Cow ! I would like to fish the Everglades . I have never hired a guide but may for an 8 hour trip there .
  8. These are the brush piles I am talking about . This is the tip of the iceberg and there are many more .They are a booger to get a texas rig or jig through . I understand that snags are inevitable but I can still minimize them .
  9. I thought they were some sort of eggs too , when I first encountered them . I see them on brush and catch lots of bass in that same brush .
  10. I dont carry when I'm fishing unless I'm fishing from bank in remote areas . I judge people by my initial impression and some people throw off bad vibes . This is something I have always done and I'm pretty sure most everybody does the same thing . I was cleaning fish one day and a man came up to me too talk with two tear drops tattooed on his face . He gave me the creeps but I was armed with a razor sharp fillet knife and paying attention to every move he made .
  11. A point would be a ridge but we call them points . A saddle between to high spots would be a ridge .
  12. Ok . I'm going to pay for someones meal now . My wife and I have paid for peoples groceries on different occasions . I sold a boy a car for a hundred dollars , I was asking a thousand . His car was shot and he was a delivery boy . He could not work without wheels .
  13. Passed one about twenty years ago . It hurt so bad I was vomitting in the ER . Cat Scans shows there are two more biding their time . I'm not looking forward to it . Passing 27 of them .
  14. I have an electric smoker . I have ribs down pat . I always smoke an extra rack just to give away to whoever I think , deserves it , like mom . The other meats I'm just soso with .
  15. I fry fish in Andys Red .
  16. I Use one that heavy is enough to cast easily like a 1/2 ounce ,mostly because I'm a better angler with that weight . I use bright colors in the spring then tone it down after the spawn . Using baitfish patterns that are not bright seems to work better than flashy colors after the bass have been hammered by spinnerbaits all spring .
  17. The first bass lures that I had consistent results with were Beetle Spins and Storm Thin Fins . I still use Beetle spins regularly but dont even have a Thin Fin because they are too hard to cast .
  18. I use Texas rigs more than jigs because I have more success with them . I fish them exactly the same way in the same places . Whatever floats my boat at the time is what I use and if it doesnt work then I change .
  19. I catch four times more bass on 1/4 of the lures than when I started , fishing on the same waters . The fishing was better then too . The main difference's are lure selection boat positioning casting and better deep water skills .
  20. Are there any ox-bow lakes around there ? Thats where I would go when the water is low and clear .
  21. Last year she had to go and I told her to pee in the livewell . Then turned it on for a minute to flush it . I cant be the only person to have women go in the livewell . Theres hardly ever any fish in it . Anyone else do it ?

Mercer reminds me of Captain Spaulding .
  23. I do have a spoonbill Rogue , weighted that I have never used . I forgot about that thing . Have a Rebel too .
  24. I have a few Mudbugs and still carry one or two in my crankbait box . I caught some hawgs with them back in the late 70's and early 80's .
