Is my spinnerbait broken?
It could be a number of things . Assuming you two were throwing similar baits , color , blades... He could have been fishing a different depth or speed. His cast may be more precise and less noisy. He could be working it differently by letting it drop or fade away . That fade technique is one that I use a lot . Its not killing the bait , just slow the lure down and drop the rod tip a little right as the lure is leaving cover , letting it fade away . I have had a good spring so far on spinnerbaits and other anglers I talked to are having it tough . Some were using tiny dink sized lures and I was using half ounce models . They were casting at the bank with high arcing cast and I was in close making under hand tosses and pitches into flooded brush . They were making a lot more noise , I'm stealthy as I can be . Theres more to it than chucking and winding .

Question regarding time of day to fish in respects to weather?
Early in the year with water temps in the 40's and low 50's , I have had more success in the afternoons . The surface temp can raise 10 degrees or more on a sunny day , then drop again that night ..

Moon phase fishing
Wow . Good job . Its been awhile since I had a five fish twenty lb limit . The only time I pay attention to the moon is night fishing . I prefer a bright night .

What am I doing wrong?
You're just using the wrong lures at the wrong time . They all work . I quit trying to keep up with all the lures . As long as fish are being caught , I'll remain happy . Where I've been fishing the spinnerbait bite is dying out. Texas rigs , toads and crankbaits are picking up . The changes will keep happening throughout the year . Its just a matter of connecting the dots .

Regional colors
The brown and green pumpkin colors that are so popular , I have only had so-so success with them and have used them quite a bit . Purple is more consistent where I fish . It can be any form of purple too . Electric grape , tequila sunrise....I had a two year hot streak in local tourneys and pocketed about five thousand dollars during that time . Every penny came on electric grape lizard's .

Regional colors
Purple is my confidence color . A fellow angler I use to fish with a lot usually threw blueberry , me black grape . If they were hitting one they were hitting the other . A local favorite spinnerbait color use to be white with red blades . I never caught a lot with it but other anglers swore by it . Another local favorite was a Pico Perch chartreuse with black spots .Once again I didnt have a lot of luck on it but did with other colors .

Favorite Early Summer Time Baits
I went yesterday not knowing the fish were in their post-spawn phase .After several hours of fishing shallow with not much to show , I found a spot 8 to 10 foot deep on a point and caught fifteen including a limit of 15 inch keepers The two lures that caught them were a Texas rigged Dinger and a Rapala Crankin Rap CR14 .

What is high wind for fishing?
If I'm fishing from a 14 foot jon boat with a modest 12 volt Minn Kota , I go on light wind days , usually nothing over 15 MPH less than 10 preferable . If I'm in my 22 foot Lowe with an 80 lb thrust elec motor then I'll go up to around 25 MPH . I can always find sheltered banks if need be .

A Saturday Morning Question
Sometimes bass are easier to catch on the sunny banks other times the shady ones . When it comes to shade created by something like a tree , Im probably casting well past the target so yeah, I'm casting into the light and retrieving into the shade . If I'm fishing a sunny bank like in the morning with long shadows , I try to go the direction that keeps my shadow from hitting the area fished .

You can choose only one lure/tactic for the day...
If it was right now, this time of year, north Missouri , spinnerbait .

Worms: curly vs straight tail
The best feature I like with curly tail worms is when rigged with the tip of the tail in the down position , it eliminates line twist .
