  1. Just talked to a staff personnel at a local lake elec motor oly lake and got the OK to go . I'm heading out wed morning to chuck some spinnerbaits at pre-spawners .
  2. I love all the classic rock . My faves include The Beatles Alice Cooper Moody Blues Sabbath Zeppelin Deep Purple Bob Seeger CCR Grand Funk and if the Carpenters come on the radio , I am not turning them off .
  3. Which is why I never use baits with cheap ball bearing swivels like the Wal Mart dollar ones . I want those blades turning at all times .
  4. DOA also makes one it be can cut it down if less weight is preferred .
  5. I went last monday with high muddy water with temps in the low 50's . I think it was the only time in decades that I didnt even pick up a Texas rig . This was spinnerbait water and I stuck with it . It took awhile to figure out where active fish were but managed thirteen, mostly next to wood, near the mouths of small coves . I rely heavily on spinnerbaits , especially this time of year and late autumn .
  6. Even though the spinnerbait resembles nothing while looking at it , in the water those blades are flashing like baitfish and the body is just a skirted jig . I always thought it imitated baitfish more than anything .
  7. About twenty years ago my mother had seizures and it was discovered that she had a large brain tumor . It was removed and today she is 83 . Fingers crossed that all goes well for Aaron .
  8. One night I couldnt figure out why they turned the lights off at the marina. I was looking the wrong direction . Then I took off the wrong direction . When I started seeing standing timber , I knew my sense of direction was out of whack .
  9. I have a great head lamp that fits on the bill of the cap . Bought it at wal-Mart but now cant find it . It had red and green lights and easy to use .I either have to find it or buy a new one . The red light got used a lot . Lithium batteries are the way to go .
  10. I went last monday to a small Conservation Dept lake . I expect it to close any day now. If that happens , I'll get some night crawlers and visit a swollen river . Thats a lot of fun too . Make a fire , drink some beer and catch some hard fighting trash fish . Might even set up camp .
  11. Its not that I abandoned Ned Rigs , its that I'm pretty much a heavy cover oriented angler and dont see throwing them in those situations .
  12. I dont think mine has this feature .
  13. I fish crankbaits at night .
  14. Everyone of you got it wrong . ?

I test buy weighing meat at home . The weight is already on the package .
  16. I bought some of those Jungle hooks last year after decades of fishing with thinner wire offset hooks . I lost the biggest bass of the season with it . The hook just didnt penetrate the worm and fishes mouth . I immediately went back to my old hooks , that have worked well for all these years .

The one I have is the Rapala High Contrast I purchased this last year , they have been a lot of fun . Every time I go fishing I weigh my first five over 12 inch fish , releasing them after they are weighed . The scale keeps track of each fish , I think up to ten . After the first five I'm culling like in a tournament . Sometimes I add a few ounces to the total sometimes lbs . My highest total so far in less than a year has been just shy of fifteen lbs . Its kind of a rush when I get to erase a dink with a solid kicker . Any way , it adds a little bit to my excursions and even if I'm catching dinks , it keeps me motivated to catch bigger fish .
  18. I fished a sub-division pond that was covered in that gorilla snot and duck weed . Caught a bunch of big bass with a Riverside top Gun , "now its called the Yum Swurm " rigged weightless and a big heavy offset flipping hook . It went over the stuff well . The big hook added a little bit of weight to aid in casting and was strong enough to bring in a 6 lb bass enveloped in lbs of moss . The bass dont even fight , they cant . Just cast right on top of the stuff . I was even able to plop it in place, move it a little pause in holes or less thick areas . The hits were spectacular as the big bass would blow up through it .
  19. I have those and the long lipped versions . When they were discontinued I stocked up . Some of the best cranks I ever chucked . I like the red craw for night fishing . Shad colors work great during the day . My all time favorite Rapala are the Fat Raps . I have about ten . They just work well going down the bank junk fishing .Colors I like are gold foil , perch , crawdad , and silver foil .
  20. I was wondering about that .
  21. Not exactly new , I purchased these last year but they have been a lot of fun . Every time I go fishing I weigh my first five over 12 inch fish , releasing them after they are weighed . 22. I'm a hundred miles north of you and fished on a 200 acre lake monday. Sunny day with the surface temp 51 in the morning then by around 2 o'clock it had risen to 62, then started dropping back down . Bass were hitting spinnerbaits , especially when the temps spiked . When the temps started going down the bite slowed . Water high and "Muddy" . Bass were shallow and tight to wood cover .
  23. I think so too . It will make a person a better angler with all other lures and techniques . You will learn how bass relate to cover and how to detect a bite . I would not be able to bounce lipless baits in deep water near as well if I hadnt learned to worm fish first . I became a better spinnerbait/buzzbait angler . I asked myself where would I throw a worm , then chunk a spinnerbait/buzzer in the same spot . Speaking of bass in cover , sometimes they are in the middle and often times they are positioned on the outside .I've done some snorkeling in clear Missouri streams and there were always bass near a fallen tree but not always tight to it .
  24. I fished a Missouri Conservation lake on Monday and so did several other people . Nobody got close to each other .I hope they let it remain open .
  25. A long time ago, before the internet , Bass Pro came out with a barbless worm hook that had a funny shape . They didnt carry it very long and I never heard any reports on it .
