  1. a pair of 9 lbers .
  2. I wouldnt worry about learning every technique and lure and put the time and effort into catching bass . I mean its not hard to throw a crankbait but if your water makes it difficult , then dont fret over it or go some place else .
  3. I saw Clunn using an old school Gator Tail worm . The bite is a little slower this morning but still some big ones being caught . Its a slugfest .
  4. Big Fish Fest .
  5. I heard Zebra muscles cut braid pretty good .
  6. The 200 acre lake I fish a lot had an an explosion of this stuff last year. Its chara algae " skunk weed "that has no root system to keep it anchored . It completely choked out some shallow water areas . The wind blows it around . I caught bunches of fish with buzzbzits and spinnerbaits fished around and over it . Anything fished through it would come back covered ,even Texas rigged plastic worms . Frogs go over the top of it pretty good but I did not use them much as the spinnerbaits and buzzbaits worked so well . I speculate a Johnson Silver Minnow would have worked too.
  7. I enjoy seeing the anglers trying to improve their five fish limits , the strategies involved ... This is the format I like .
  8. I sharpen hooks all the time .My Leatherman is equipped with a diamond file . Just few light strokes point toward barb and when it can dig in my thumb nail , it is finished .
  9. Same here and when I have I was unsuccessful in catching it . One bass kept picking my lizard up by the tail and depositing it outside the nest .
  10. A Bass lay's thousands of eggs and the entire population lays millions . This is natures way to ensure that there will be a healthy bass population. A body of water will only sustain so many fish . Catching bedding bass is not something that concerns me .
  11. I picked the wrong Drew , the wrong Brandon and the wrong Canadian
  12. How are the cuts going to work this year ?
  13. Black/chartreuse , black/blue , purples , and browns for me .
  14. I like to throw buzzbaits at the exact same spot I throw spinnerbaits . Throw them over the top of logs , in the middle of the hairiest brush on the lake . Picking lures is the easiest part of bass fishing . Select lures that will effectively fish the places bass are likely to be .
  15. I use the David Fritz one . Sometimes its difficult holding the rod in one hand , working the lure retriever with the other with the wind blowing you in circles but I get close to 100 per cent of my baits back .
  16. Spinnerbaits , crankbaits ,Texas rigs .
  17. I used a lot of pork . Pork frogs , Split tail eels , sprig lizards/water dogs and craws .I had the best luck on frogs and craws .
  18. I dont do a lot of traveling to fish . If I was to suddenly move to the Ozarks I would surely fish differently than I do now . 45 years of fishing stained to muddy waters I have a good idea how to do that . I'll fish them deep too and not afraid to pickup a Dredger 25.5 and do some deep cranking .
  19. I have one twin spin and have never used it . The spinnerbait I like to throw is a short arm with a weedguard .
  20. My weak point is trying new stuff . There are so many techniques now days I dont put in the fishing hours to try everything . Texas rigs , crankbaits , spinnerbaits , buzzbaits make up over 90 per cent of what I use and I'm happy with that . I can fish all cover and depths i encounter effectively . There are times where other lures come into play and I'm open minded about using them but my main four usually get first preference . That and back-handed casting for me .
  21. Bill was a great Tournament fisherman too . He only did it for a few years and had an impressive run . I have my fingers crossed for his recovery ..
  22. Just like a carolina rig without a bead .
