  1. My Papa Jake was the person who influenced my love of fishing. We would go to a pond and he would tell me where to throw and why. If there were sticks sticking up he would tell me to throw there. If it was mossy and there was a break in the moss he would tell me to work it there. He used maybe 4 - 8 different lures and probably caught more fish in his life than I ever will.
  2. Lipless, jerkbait, spinnerbait
  3. Cool. We have different experiences. Fishing is fun.
  4. 6 3700 bait coffins, 1 3700 DD bait coffin and tons of storage for line, pliers, sprays, dyes, glasses, scales, etc.
  5. If you have OCD, I apologize for the blue/black handle pliers and grey/black handle line cutters. Red/black pliers and cutters have been ordered. I didn't realize it was that bad. LOL
  6. Big difference in getting pumped when you catch an actual 5 lber and getting pumped and acting like it's a 5 lber when it's clearly a 2 lber. I don't mind a good bat flip when a guy hits a bomb. But don't bat flip when you pop out to shallow centerfield. I'm not holier than thou at all, just commenting on how his antics are old and worn out. I'm not offended at all, he acts like an idiot, just pointing it out.
  7. They are worth every penny and I would rather have one MB over 10 Lucky Craft. If it broke on a rock or something then I don't know why they would warranty it.
  8. I normally don't post on this thread, I would rather post pictures of fish, but I have been wanting one for about 4 years since I first bought my bait coffins. Never could pull the trigger. Finally was able to see one in person and I was sold. Got everything in it today and I love it!
  9. None of my reels hold 250 yards. I'm putting about 110 yards on them. If I fish with one for very long and land a number of fish I like to cut off about 20 ft or so and retie. Depending on how often I do this I can get down pretty low sometimes. When I get pretty low I will strip off and respool. Line is pretty cheap (the stuff I use) so I don't mind respooling a few times a year if need be. I would not be respooling very oten if I was using Tatsu or something like that.
  10. Too many to remember but one sticks out. Was hung up in a cat tail with a lipless and trying my best to rip it loose. I finally got it and it came flying by my head at a high rate of speed. Natural reaction said "catch it" the treble hooks screamed "CAUGHT IT". Not a good day.
  11. Well, while not cheap, the Bass Mafia bag would hold them. A TON of storage.
  12. My grandpa (who was the best fisherman I have personally known) would bash me for spending so much to catch fish. LOL
  13. As a history/geography teacher who has taught about this cathedral (kids love the story of Quasimodo), this is really crazy to me. It survived so many revolutions, battles, WWI, WWII, etc. and now it goes down to a construction accident. Sad.
  14. I use the Owner Hyper Welded 0 size and use them on ANY moving bait. Don't worry if it has a treble hook or single hook and how hard you set the hook. You will NEVER EVER break the snap. I have used them with 65 lb braid on an A rig and got hung up and straightened the hook out and the snap was fine,
  15. I have went through probably 30-40 Plano boxes over the years. Latches breaking, cracking, warping, etc. I decided to buy Bass Mafia bait coffins. I have 7 3700 and 1 3700 DD. They are EXPENSIVE and are probably NOT worth it if you can't afford them. However, I am not one bit worried that they will last me another 20 years if I need them to. Not to mention they are HEAVY and there is no way I would want to lug them around. I am a co-angler so I just carry them from my house to my truck and then into my buddies boat.
  16. I always back the boat down to launch and load for my buddy. I have been doing it for years and have it down pretty well. When we load the boat I back the trailer down all the way in the water to make sure the bunks are wet and then I pull it up till the front of the trailer wheel well is barely visible. It has worked well for us. I had to help a couple guys load their boat this past weekend at the lake who couldn't pull it off. Both appeared to be older than me and they seemed embarrassed but I would never think bad of anyone because it takes practice. It's like golf, not everyone is good and plays fast, but if you are holding someone up, move and let them go first.
  17. I waited on the TW sale and gave up. Still ordered the Bass Mafia Tackle Bag anyway just to take advantage of the shipping.
  18. My buddy and I went fishing Sunday for a couple hours. I only managed to catch one. He said something about the barometric pressure. I just said, I wouldn't have caught any on the couch and being out fishing is a lot better than anything else I would be doing.
  19. 40 lb braid, 14 lb leader with an Alberto knot.
  20. KVD blade minnow
  21. I only use tungsten, but I peg all my weights.
