  1. otters are very cool indeed. i have a weird relationship with the beavers as i tend to see one about every other fishing trip. when i'm on the water before or after dark and come too close to one, triggering the epic tail splash, it usually scares the absolute **** out of me. on another note, this lake my buddy and i frequent has a beaver dam we found near a gas pipe that holds a lot of fish. if they aren't on that pipe, they are at the beaver dam 100% money back guarantee. have caught quite a few bass off of beaver dams after learning how many baitfish they hold.
  2. nice vid kid! that really was done quite well!
  3. just a thought here..... but if you don't want to take the time to edit out the personal stuff, you likely won't get much traction here. if you're serious about it, take the 60 seconds or less and copy/paste the relevant parts.
  4. Perhaps someone that has done this or maybe an electrician can chime in here... i'm going to convert a 30lb minn kota trolling motor for my kayak. it will be hands free drive by using the foot pedals that are currently in use for the rudder. where i do not know how to proceed is how to convert the wires/head into what i suppose would be a rotary switch of some type. anyone have any insight on what type of switch i would need to buy in order to allow me to operate the forward drive (speeds 1-5) as well as reverse from a hand operated switch or dial? links to plans or specific products are GREATLY appreciated. thanks!
  5. i personally enjoy box car grafitti, those rods on the other hand..... not for me.
  6. where are you staying at? maybe i can offer a couple more suggestions. not surprising that varner was crowded, that's how i've found it each time i've fished there. but the draw is the fact that there are some monsters pulled out of there regularly.
  7. guess it depends on how much $ you can apply towards fishing..... i've picked mine up on sales between $4 and $6 each and for that price, i like them. for full price, they are good, but likely wouldn't get me to cough up the $11 each
  8. for all the reasons above i like poppers. i like to throw buzz baits near docks and in open water and poppers around any cover.
  9. and i actually forgot to mention that the power pulse skirts are more or less interchangeable with all of my spinnerbaits so that is pretty sweet. they are pretty durable as well.
  10. something is out of place there.... your garage is far too clean to be called a garage. nice setup.
  11. KVD as well and just toss the reel magic out.
  12. bought one recently at DSG on clearance as well. i like it so far. i also have a pflueger patriarch and they are both quality reels. i would have been happy with the supreme even at full retail, it's a really nice upgrade from the lew's speed spin i was using before.
  13. came here just to say val kilmer as doc holiday..... tombstone is as good as it gets, was watching it on AMC this weekend.
  14. exactly this right here i have about a 50/50 mix of these and war eagles. i really like the t1s. you can feel the vibration really well and never have to worry about bending the wire or tuning the baits. they are pricey, but if i ever find them on sale i buy them NO MATTER WHAT COLOR HEAD OR SKIRT. then i use WIGuide's philosophy and change out the skirts in seconds. i have about 10-12 skirts in the spinnerbait box. if you have a few different weight/blade combos plus the skirts you essentially have a ton of interchangeable spinnerbaits. it can actually be cost effective in the long run so long as you don't lose too many.
  15. i have caught most of my buzzbait fish on white, white/red, white/silver color combinations. although, i would not rule out the black colors as mentioned.
  16. would agree with catching some smallmouth. also have to throw the spotted bass in the mix. sometimes they make me feel like Ike talking about "a monster" "a giant" "a beast" and then a 2.5lber spot comes to the surface.......
  17. something to measure and implement industry standards on power and action of rods
  18. My dad called me last night with terrible news...... they were draining the mountain reservoir that he and i like to fish so much, the one that produced my PB/2ndPB/3rdPB and his PB bluegill! he drove by and couldn't quite tell why they were doing it, but they had drawn down the lake and appeared to be working on something near a bridge that crosses it. i honestly don't know how big the lake is in total, but it is no more than 100 acres i would say. it is fed by an ice cold mountain river. my dad estimates the lake is about 1/4 the normal level. this lake is old. my grandfather claimed they used to drive cars on the ice back in the late 30's so it's been around for a while at least. so my question is what impact does a drawdown like that have on the fishing? if you reduce the level of the lake by 75% or so, how much of the fish population could be expected to survive? and would the bigger or smaller fish be more severly impacted by the change? thanks.
  19. Don't they come with 2 tails? If so, try it on one of the tails and see how it handles it. It's a pretty hard plastic so it may not absorb like others.
  20. He's a mutt and a worthless fishing partner but he's my main man. If I start to load my kayak he loses it, and if I don't take him it's 2 weeks or so before he gets over it!! He loves to go fishing!
  21. whoa now one step at a time!!
  22. they can track age and many other variables
  23. if the fish are bedding down, that lizard will really shine. i personally don't throw them much, but some guys i fish with prefer them over worms during the pre thru post spawn periods.
  24. ^^ second that, really like that one on the far left
