War Eagle Spinnerbait Help
Well obviously there is no one "best" combo, but I like a white skirt with tandem blades, one gold and indiana, the other silver and willow. This is pretty good for most conditions.

Can You Remember The First Time (Bass Fishing)
My first fish was off a local dock last summer. As a result of summer bordness, i decided to build a raft out of plywood, inner tubes and some rope. It worked, and i decided i wanted to catch fish off of it. I have always been fascinated by fishing and always wanted to go, so this was just the reason i needed. The next day I caught 4 bluegill off crappie nibbles but decided I wanted to catch the "big fish", and therefore decided to bass fish. A long month later I caught my first bass off of a bass pro shops brand crank bait. It was about 11' but I have never been so proud of a fish as i have that one.

Catching Other Fish While Bass Fishing
Not as impressive as yours, but my brother caught a 1.5 lb crappie (a good sized fish around here) on a square bill. We didn't know it was a big fish so we just released it without any pictures or anything.

Crankbait Combo For Heavy Timber
What everybody else has said, and a good lure retriever! No matter what I do, I always lose a few cranks to timber.

Small John Boat Questions
Hey guys, quick update. The first boat is now sold, and sadly not to me. The second boat has no contact info or title, which makes me nervous. What do you guys think of this boat? It is a little more expensive, and on the phone the guy said the trolling motor is 45lb instead of 35. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/3701641718.html Thanks!

How Do You Practice Off The Water?

Small John Boat Questions
Thanks for the replies guys, I will keep you guys updated on what I do. I do have 2 more questions, though: 1. Would the seats in the second boat be harder to fish from cause they're lower than the first one? 2. What power of trolling motor would be optimal for a primary motor for a boat this size? I see the second one has a 55 lb one, is that large enough? 3. Lastly, would there be a way/place to mount a trolling motor for hands-free operation? Thanks!

Small John Boat Questions
Hey guys, I am looking into getting my first fishing boat. My budget is about $500 so I am looking at smaller john boats, in the 10-14 ft range. Here are the boats I am looking at: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/3714983675.html http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/3733403269.html Here are my questions: 1. Would there be room for my brother and I to fish comfortably in these? 2. Could we bring along a third person if we wanted? 3. Could we make do with only a trolling motor on small lakes? 4. Would they be stable enough to stand up? 5. Do these boats look good to you guys? I haven't ever owned a boat before so don't really know. Thanks in advance!

Fishin Newbie Seeking Advice
I see other people have talked about rods and reels, so I will touch on lures. If you go to bass pro or another tackle story-which you will have to- you will see more lures than you can believe. And I say, honestly, for now don't bother with them. To start out with, but some 4/0 EWG hooks and various size bullet weights. Next, start out with two packs of senkos. Buy the 5 inch ones in green and another in black (fish weightless). Next, buy some ribbon tail worms, same colors as before. These two lures are great starting points and are very versatile. Lastly, buy one spinnerbait. Buy one with a white skirt, tandem blades that are indiana and willow, gold and silver. This is a very easy and versatile lure to fish. That is all you need to start out with. Watch a few videos on here to learn how to fish them, and also read these: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/60793-best-of-bassresourcecom/ as well as http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/page-14?hl=%2Bguaranteed+%2Bto+%2Bcatch+%2Bfish#entry1193546 get out on the water! Have fun and good luck!

Favorite Square Bill Crankbait
I like the KVD series, but I also like the Luck E Strike Rick Clunn RC2 series. They are proven fish catchers.

Do Any Of You Put You're Other Hobbies On The Backburner For Fishing ?
Yes, I used to build scale models airplanes as well as balsa model planes that flew, but I haven't even sat down at my workbench for those in over a year. Fishing takes priority over those! My only other hobby is baseball and I don't think I will ever stop that.

Honey Hole, Oh Sweet Honey Hole :-)
I have only been fishing one time in the rain and the fish behaved exactly how you described. Wouldn't stop squirming when I held them, fought hard etc. I don't know if it has to do with it raining before you go but I thought it might have something to do with that.

The Best Baitcaster You Ever Used?
You're right about that one. It works great and has been great to learn on, but I will probably need an upgrade in a year or two. You never know, though, hopefully it will surprise me with years of use.

How To Fish A Texas Rig?
Hey guys, this year I am trying to learn the texas rig because it is (supposedly) so versatile and you can use so many lures on it. I have tried before without any luck. I have read a lot about them, and cannot find one thing. How do you fish it? Is it like a jig, or is it different? Thanks in advanced.
