  1. Yup. I heard the guy that lead a tournament two weeks ago had a 12lb and a 9lb on the first day. I'm pretty sure he's catching them around docks with swim jigs with a big custom (local?) paddle tail trailer year round too. My wife's parents live at Calhoun, I'm still exploring Chick. It's the place to fish in Tennessee now. Dale Hollow tournament two weeks ago had just shy of 200 anglers 2 day tournament weighed 3200 lbs of fish. They have weird slot sizes on smallies too so some people had to turn back 19-20inch smallies. Those are big fish.
  2. Dicks always has the best fishing deals I've found. I check there frequently. They had a buy one get one day last year. I spent a load but got a ton of Booyah spinners, Zoom plastics, Roboworms and their shad raps.
  3. Ayu, Blue/Orange/Chrome, Blue Chrome, Black Chrome. I think that's all I use.
  4. Okuma EVX-A - Super light and responsive. If you buy local, they should have over the counter warranty too. Can't beat that.

  6. I fish all of them all the time. Popper's I like fishing rock and bluff lines. Spooks I like over and near structure. Buzzbaits, I throw everywhere but my biggest success with them have been over flats. I do what you do as well. Poppers in flat water. Buzzbaits and spooks in a little bit of wind. I also tend to do better on them in early morning/late afternoon. You can fish a popper year round around rocks as long as it's a little shady and on flat water in all the lakes I fish.
  7. I just drilled holes int he appropriate spots and secured with stainless nut/bolt.
  8. Super Flukes - I used White Pearl, Albino, Arkansas Shiner.
  9. Thanks, I hope so. I think I'll be able to get a few hundred for my old trolling motor.
  10. Had my boat tuned up. New plugs, impeller, lower unit oil, lubed steering, cleaned fuel system and had new filters put in. I also had a new trolling motor installed. Bass Pro rung this one up during the Spring Classic for $434.00 with a $50.00 AMEX prepaid rebate card! My last TM was the original that came with the boat in 1999. I had the same motor, a MG 43lb thrust, on my 14' Grumman. It pushed it fine. Never did push the bigger boat that well. Hopefully this one will! It was in the 30s all day today here. I've only been out a few times this year - dang weather won't cooperate!
  11. Thanks for the replies!
  12. I use swivels on in-line spinners some. I use snaps on bigger heavy baits for musky/rockfish - mostly because I change lures frequently.
  13. anyone ever ordered from them or their parent company, Pontoon Stuff? The seats in my SeaArk are getting some age on them and their kits are priced extremely attractively.
  14. Abu 6501 with Power handle. Cranking big lures all day needs a bigger handle, IMO.

I use them for Strpe and Musky. Haven't caught a bass on one. I've caught a few good bass on the similar sized/colored gliding rap, though.
  16. Party Crasher, Bone, Rainbow. In that order.
  17. Tennessee Combination Hunting Fishing is $28.00... http://www.tennessee.gov/twra/fishlicense.html My three year boat registration over 16 foot boat is $71.

I don't think it's that bad, but the heavy salt impregnated baits do much better on drop shotting, IMO. I'll stick with Roboworms.

  20. I'm taking her to the mechanic for some work tomorrow. New Water Pump Impeller, Spark Plugs, Lower Unit Oil and Fuel Lines. Then the good stuff gets added: Humminbird 598 SI unit at console/TM and a brand new Minn Kota Edge. I went to Bass Pro Thursday and lucked out and got the last one - it even rang up cheaper than they had it marked. She's dirty! Next week, she'll be clean and sporting some new goodies! Also, I think my registration sticker is off on that side. Ru-roh. Here's the Hobie from my Profile Pic. she's loaded down for an overnight trip on the Caney Fork. Had to get someone to carry my hammock and sleeping stuff. ;-D
  21. Flukes with underspins, shallow shad raps, t-rigged brush hogs, poppers in the morning/later afternoon.

I like them. They are copies of Jackall crosstail shad. I drop shot them frequently. I think they work well and they are a whole lot cheaper and more durable than roboworms. I caught 4 or 5 fish off one downed tree on a single green pumpkin z-drop. I still think Roboworms are better, so are Trick Worms and Finesse worms. I can routinely find z-drops for under 2.50 for a pack of 15. The Trick worms and finesse worms are closer to 4 bucks for 20. So, they are cheaper. They catch fish.
  23. I've posted this elsewhere, but I use bonsai pruning shears. They are cheap, made of very good carbon steel and SHARP. As easy to sharpen as a knife. When those aren't around, I wrap the braid around my bicep and flex.
