  1. Been a pretty solid year so far. Few 1st place finishes, several 2nd place. Big bass for the year is 5.36. Fish are done spawning here. Summer patterns are starting to take effect. Frog bite has been hot. Literally every tournament for this past month has been awful storms. Some we probably shouldn't have been in.
  2. Quick way to shut someone up. I like it. Did you join this forum just to say that?
  3. Hahaha guys this is old old old
  4. Jig, soft plastic beaver and lizard
  5. I'd sure hope they run to the fuse box. Anything electrical should have a properly sized fuse to protect the device and prevent fires. You have a meter set to DC voltage reading across the plus and negative? If you are still not getting voltage these wires could be connected to a switch. Make sure you have any accessory power switches on. These could provide power to the wires. Possible that the key ignition switch powers them as well. If still no power found I'd check to make sure there are no fuses missing. Once you get to this point you'll have to start tracing down the wires and see where they lead. Or just look at running a new circuit from your fuse block for it.
  6. Solid advice. Got it, thanks. Hahahaha Probably give daiwa a shout and see what they have to offer. Been tempted to start buying groups of broken reels on ebay for spare parts. Seems alot of things are universal to a degree. Would be handy to have that spare spring, or washer that ends up on the garage floor never to be found. Wish the local hardware carried fishing reel parts. Hahaha
  7. Both spacing washers were in place. My 1016 has been a great reel. But has been used and abused. Cast like a dream up until this happening.
  8. Well, made an extremely bad move. Live and learn. An this is how I learn best. By taking something apart and destroying it. Hahaha. Looking to get the ar bearing extremely clean, I took it completely apart. Ultra sonic cleaned the rollers, clutch springs, and outer race. Just for anyone else that attempts this, it's not for the faint of heart. I took time and precaution, and even so still managed to lose one of the tiny clutch springs. I somehow managed to get the first two in, lost one, bent one, than decided it's not worth anymore time spent on this. So im in the market for a new ar bearing. Part # 6g819801 roller clutch. Bearing itself reads Nsk DF501018. Google search didn't lead me to much. Wondering if daiwa even carries this clutch bearing anymore. Reckon I'll have to shoot them a call. Pinion gear was correct. Spool pin had a slight bur from removing that I filed lightly. Pin was pretty even, did just the slightest adjustment. The handle did indeed move backwards, roughly 1/4 inch when the reel work jerk.
  9. Thanks fellas about to get to work on it.
  10. I use only a thin coat of cals drag grease. What do you mean by the key washer? The sleeve fits over the handle drive shaft, and sits inside the ar bearing. However, I'm not positive of there is a proper orientation of the sleeve as the are differences if you flip it around. But from looking at it im not sure it would matter which way you put it.
  11. AR bearings swapped, no dice. Still upon pulling drag, handle will jerk and gear will sound as if slipping or grinding.
  12. Spoke to soon. Got to casting it around outside, testing it for a minute. Back to square one. Still doing the same thing. Appeared to have helped it as soon as I put it back together, but no different now. Perhaps the whole AR bearing is shot? I have a similar reel that I'm think I might swap the bearings on and see if it cures the problem than I'd know
  13. Thomas, just thoroughly cleaned ar bearing and put it all back together. Cannot get it to jump like it was doing. Just want to say thank you very much!
  14. The rod loading will come from properly matching the bait to rod. As you swing back it loads the rod (arching the rod in a reverse motion) providing more forward motion allowing you to sling your bait ot further. The more you get used to it you'll feel the rod load and it'll become 2nd hand.
  15. I always used grease in the past. Just recently I started to use a heavy weight 90-120 axle gear oil. Inside the reel on both sides you'll see a slot that guides the thumb bar. Get those, then also where the clutch mechanism slides.
  16. I'm sitting here with it broken apart and was trying to think of anything I might of missed and what could cause this. What you mentioned is exactly what i began to think as well. Normally i don't touch the ar bearing for this very reason. But i wonder if over years this managed to collect too much oil. Thinking i might take it completely apart and clean every roller. Thanks
  17. I'd look at making sure the surfaces of the thumb bar are properly lubricated. An that the springs that operate the thumb bar are in proper locations, and orientated correctly.
  18. Matching a rod to a certain bait your using is going to be ther biggest factor in ease of casting and distance. You wouldn't want to throw a 1/16oz crappie jig on a heavy power rod, and you wouldn't want to throw a 4oz musky lure on a ultralight power rod. For obvious reasons you'd struggle to cast them. Look on your rods and it will have recommended lure weights and keep them in that range. You said you use 10lb line as well. I don't use any line under 12lb on bait casters. Preferably 15lb+. The thin diameter lines will make it harder to cast, and any back lashes you do get will be more of a fight to remove.
  19. The reel is a : daiwa 1016 shl tw I've been through the reel several times now and cannot for the life of me figure what is wrong with it. Yes, schematic is out and from what I can tell everything is in place. Problem: whenever you pull drag, by hand, hook set, even trying to reel in a bait, the reel will jerk as if something is slipping and the handle will turn a 1/4 of an inch backwards (opposite of reeling in line.) It appears to get worse the more you have the drag tightened down. Any thoughts, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Everything else on the reel appears to work fine. Thanks, Zachary Removing the side plate with mag force braking system I can still mimic the results so I know it's on the gear side.
  20. Shimano curado s7. She's been through hell but is smooth as could be and keeps trucking.
  21. First tournament was last weekend. Tough day for most. Ended up 4th with two fish, big going 4.8 lb
  22. Extremely shallow rocks. This one went a hair over 18" yesterday. Water temps 46-49.
  23. Y'all got me lost, lol. Im speaking of central illinois. Newton, il power plant lake. Ryan that things a slab! Good fish!
  24. All my rods I customize like that after stepping on them while laying on the boat deck.
  25. Group of baits I just finished. Most will be going to high school kids during a high school tournament our club puts on. Some im eager to fish and see how they hold up. Happy with how they turned out for my first time. Definitely alot to learn yet, but learned a ton just doing these. Would love to watch and learn how you do yours baitmaker. Yours look great!
